We were in town to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We offered to take her out to a restaurant of her choice and she selected this one. It was recommended by a friend. We have never been to India but have had Indian food prepared by...Indian friends and at Indian restaurants. We thought this food was fantastic and would love to return on a future visit to Ann Arbor. The restaurant is not much to look at from the outside and the decor on the inside was assembled on a very tight budget but do not let this deter you. Focus on the fantastic meals and you will surely enjoy your visit.More

Food is flavorful and interesting. Chef/server/owner is a subtle delight. I had vegetarian, my companion lamb; both were great. The rice pudding unlike anything I had before was wonderful.

We are not authorities on Indiana cuisine. We went because of the reviews. There were several people there waiting for take-out and while we were there, a catering order went out It is very low key for atmosphere, furnished in early garage sale. But the...people were VERY nice and the food was excellent. We had the vegetarian Samosas (our favorite part of the meal), Paneer Masala and Chicken Tikki Masala with rice and the garlic naan. We will definitely go again and will probably stop and do takeout since it's on the way home for me.More

I am giving an excellent rating majorly because of three factors: 1. Food tastes amazing. 2. Authentic Indian food. 3. The owner is very personable. He is polite and has a wise thinking too. It has always been wonderful to talk to him especially about...his cross-cultural experiences. You may not like the place to be more fancy. But, if you want to have a delicious food and spend some quite time, you're gonna love this place.More

I had dinner there and both the Matter Paneer and the garlic naan were great, and also quite cheap. The looks of the place are bad, so I would recommend getting the food to go, or at least do not take there a date!

At first glance, I would imagine that many people would walk out...not seeing past the "oddity" of the location. It is not setup like a restaurant, and is more like a store cafe. The food here is spectacular. I am not Indian...I have been to...India, and this food is simply excellent. We had a variety of dishes, and each one was full of taste and was cooked perfectly. I have not had garlic naan before, and it was a great addition to an already great meal.More

Wow for my first time trying Indian good this was outstanding! So much to choose from, the decision was so hard! Food was extremely hot and fresh! Glaciers like I've never had before! Defiantly love the mushroom appetizer (can't remember what they are called) would...recommend to everyone!More

Please please eat here before you go back to any of the Indian restaurants in Ann Arbor. We're about to move and our biggest regret is that we didn't discover this place sooner. People often say something like "don't be fooled by the looks of...the place." But don't we all know the best discoveries are at a random location on the roadside, at a kitchen counter, etc? And boy... the food exceed our expectations. Even before the first bite we could tell we were in for something special - colorful dishes, fresh ingredients, and a welcoming aroma (contrasted with some typical meat covered in a pre-prepared sauce that you might find at another Indian restaurant). Aloo Gobi was great, but the Lamb Vindaloo put it over the top. Tender lamb and vibrant flavors - spicy, some sweetness, occasional bursts of clove. Delicious. I wiped up every last bit sauce with the naan that came with the dinner. Mouth watering yet??? Go there now!More

I was blown away, in a good way, by the soup I had here for lunch. Fresh flavors, masterfully combined. I ordered it medium and it was spot on. Just the right amount of heat to pique your interest, but never overwhelming. Which is great,...considering that my ethnic heritage cuisine is more in the mashed potatoes and Irish whiskey categories. Clearly these folks know what they're doing. I spoke to another diner who was enjoying the same dish and she reported that other items on the menu were equally flavorful and well prepared. The table service area is pretty plain, nothing fancy here, just excellent food served by friendly people at reasonable prices.More

Probably the only indian restaurant in ann arbor that tastes like home made indian food. Samosas are awesome. Simple menu, friendly waiters are key, but menu options should attract more crowd. Poor ambience and location should be other issues to take note.
