My husband and I used to go to Metzgers often when we were students in the 1970s. We visited Ann Arbor recently and went to Metzger's new location. Our dinner was as excellent as we remembered it. We had our old favorite: sauerbraten, German potato salad, spaetzel, red cabbage.

Been a part of our family tradition since my parents first looked into moving to Michigan. They stopped at Metzger's in 1963 when the restaurant was downtown and our love for the place has never waned. We enjoy taking family and friends to explore their variety of great eats. The House Platter for two is a top choice for feasting... More

After 10 years, we finally made it to Metzger's and I'm sorry it took so long. I am of German descent and have visited there several times. I had high expectations and Metzger's met every one. Though the flavoring of their sauces and the texture of their spaetzle is different than mine, the food was still tasty, fresh and very... More

Extreme German décor as expected - tons of steins and plates around the place. We both had Weiner Schnitzel, Red cabbage, German potato salad. The veal was "ok", as was the cabbage, didn't like the potato salad at all. Really missing Richter's Chalet in Dearborn (they closed - tax issues) - although not the cleanest restaurant in the world, they... More

Excellent schnitzel and really authentic German food. Great choice of German beer and very good service.. It is always crowded, so be sure to go early and maybe a possible wait for a table ,but well worth it.

All the German fair is very good, the beer was also very good. Make sure to call ahead on the weekends.

We always visit Metzger's after a U-M game! Even though that is a busy time for them we are always able to make reservations. Every time we go we have a great time. I prefer Sauerbraten, and wifey likes the schnitzle with the mushroom sauce. We even had someone order the salmon this time and they said it was the... More

I have never eaten a traditionally German dish before, but my meal, Metzger's house specialty Sauerbraten, was decked out as German as I could customize: roast beef in creamy sauce, potato pancakes, and fresh egg noodles -- imagine fried eggs, only strained into mini-spaghetti. Happy happy, joy joy. Good beer selection, friendly service, and an apple strudel that was light... More

Authentic German, also American available. No reservations, frequently crowded on weekends, but service is fast.

The perch is my favorite thing on the menu, along with the wide variety of sides. We have tried many different items on the menu and always enjoy them. We have always had good service at this family restaurant.

Thank Carla M
