Royal Oak and Ann Arbor are my favorite restaurant cities in Michigan (MI). There are so many great new places but some places like the Earle have been around and are old favs with several things on the menu I can't live without. Over the past 37 years we have been many, many times. Most anniversaries, many birthdays, etc. It... More

I've been here many times and unfortunately, the quality has completely tanked. The pizza was undercooked and absolutely frozen and from a box. The salad was completely drenched in dressing, very small and expensive. The drinks tasted watered down. For the price you pay, this "French" restaurant (which has absolutely nothing to do with French cuisine) is not anything you... More

We went to the Earle for our 15th Anniversary meal in June, based on a recommendation from my husband's friends at work. It's a little confusing when you first walk in because everything looks modern and nice, but then you go downstairs to eat your meals in what looks like an old sandstone basement. Some folks might find that romantic... More

Great location. Underground, which makes for a cool ambience. Nice jazz, but loud and poor entrees. Eggplant parmesan and chicken pasta were lump and tasteless. Salmon in the puff pastry tasted good but was very salty and heavy. Desserts were excellent. Not acceptable for such a pricey place.

Went to this restaurant with a group for a party. The service was absolutely terrible for a high price restaurant. The chef did a wonderful job with the food however.

Terrible. We were here for Ann Arbor restaurant week. After eating about half of my salad, I found a huge, dead moth in my food. Instead of making a scene, I quietly motioned for my waitress to come over and showed her my plate. She seemed horrified, apologized, and took my plate away. Later, she came back and brought me... Tonight was my 5th time here. In the past i have had scallops, veal, salmon in puff pastry and tenderloin. The salmon was so good i got it again and will get it next time. I tried to recreate the dish at home. I did a really good job but the earl does better. Steve the Somalia (blame spell check)... More

A group of us was seated downstairs in a warm and cozy area. We started with stuffed mushrooms and sautéed shrimp. I had the duck breast with apples and turnip potato puree. The duck was cooked medium rare to perfection. The best I've ever had.

Consistently delivers on good food. Proper preparation, good ingredients. I recommend. The ambiance is intimate (underground), so keep that in mind if you wish to gaze out windows, that isn't going to happen.

I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. Right from the start, you are greeted pleasantly by the hostess or host who seats you. The servers can help with your menu selection and there is also a sommelier available. The cooks do a great job with the food. I've moved to Chapel Hill, NC and always stop for dinner at the...
