Amazing Bolivian salteñas in a cute courtyard. Be aware that it closes at 12:30! And there may be long queues, but worth the wait.

Very cool historic building and patio. Full of locals and great for people watching, which is how we learned most Bolivians eat their saltena with a spoon! Delicious food at 8 bolivianos each. Be patient (like the locals are) and get there early. Kid friendly.

I had the meat (carne) salteñas. They were so delicious. Best salteñas in Sucre! Very cheap 18 bolivianos for two. Great service too.

This is the saltena place in Sucre. There are far more locals than tourists. Saltenas are the Bolivian version of an empanada or meat pie. Specialists could tell you the difference between a saltena and an empanada. It is close to the Plaza de Armas and the market. Come a little before noon to avoid lines. Most of the tables... More

Great saltenas. I mean really tasty, sauce inside is lava so be careful! As for the guy at the door and the girl wandering around collecting dishes, replace them with mannequins. More cost effective i reckon. Once we got our ticket we had to wait about 10-15 minutes for her to collect and give to the kitchen. And they seemed... More

From the ambiance of the quaint outdoor courtyard to the piping hot pockets of deliciousness, we could not get enough of the El Patio Salteneria. It's flooded with locals and tourists alike and sells out fast! Get there between 11 and 12 to ensure you get a taste of both the beef and the chicken Salteñas.

We have been in Bolivia for a week now and have tried several salteña places in LaPaz and this Sucre location blew us away. A good sized salteña with great flavor. A bit most (as it should be) and delicious. Would go again - we even took a couple to go!

We tried A LOT of empanadas and saslteñas throughout out time in Sucre. We heard about this place and thought it might just be all talk and swarming in tourists. there were a few tourists, but also heaps of locals. Its a quick process (kinda confusing first time as they dont have a menu and you have to order as... More

Queue system to order and pay before sitting down. Service was efficient but if you want more you need to queue again. Very popular with locals. Great courtyard and excellent for people watching. Saltenas very good. Basically it's a Bolivian Cornish pasty. Used to be given to the silver miners to take to work. The lemonade was very sweet.

This were supposed to be the best place for saltenas in Bolivia, and you know what? It was! They are delicious! Especially the ones with chicken. They have something special about the filling and the crust. I would totally recommend it! Just be prepared for long time of waiting because the waiters prefer to chat in the kitchen than take...
