There are several excellent places for Neapolitan pizza in Dubai and Akiba Dori is up there with the best of them. Their pizza oven is a super-hot, high-tech Japanese machine that requires a fancy toss of (Japanese) salt before each pizza can go inside. Some...of their pizzas, like the Strata, are only available for dine in, but eating a freshly baked pizza in a restaurant is the best way to enjoy it.More

Akibadori,a japanese restaurant and bar located in Dubai Design District is inspired by the anime culture of Akihabara in Tokyo. This place instantly transports you to the lively streets of Tokyo. They are offering to its diners some japanese street foods and pizzas. We simply loved their food...and the whole vibe. We tried the following dishes from the menu:- Kani Salad - A fresh, crunchy and tasty salad made with crab sticks, avocado, romaine lettuce,Japanese mayo etc. Akiba Rock Shrimps- Shrimps coated in a spicy mayo sauce is a must try starter here. Wagyu Katsu Sando - High grade wagyu beef served on toasted bread with honey katsu sauce was highly enjoyable. We also tried their maki rolls and pizzas.Akiba maki rolls are super yummy.Nyuyoku and their special pizza of the day were so good.Pizza base was super fresh, thin and divine.Highly highly recommend their pizzas. For desserts we had their lotus cheese cake and Panko crusted brownies with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.Lotus cheese cake was really nice.Brownie was just okay. @akibadori was an amazing experience. Customer centric operation! Great food and inviting interiors makes it a place one would want to visit again. I am really fond of Japanese food. And I think if made well it’s something people can enjoy. I ordered Ariba rock...shrimps and don’t let the name fool you as they were perfectly soft and are basically dynamite shrimps. My favourite was the Dynamite shrimp Maki (sushi) I thoroughly enjoyed the Sashimi salads & Seafood gyoza. The wasabi prawns were done to perfection and I finished the entire platter. I was so full that I couldn’t eat much of my Yaki soba noodles. However I had a bite and they were divine. The most interesting bit was the pizza which they claim is like no other. I watched it bake infront of me and I can tell you it was light and different and I enjoyed it. For desserts I highly recommend the Lotus cheesecake. I put @akanadori on my top 5 list of asian restaurants in Dubai. A must visit place! Insta - @hookedonhenaMore

Thanks to JustFoodDXB, my wife and I thought of giving this place a try especially since we're big time fans of Japanese cuisine (which we found strange that pizza is a must-try here). We ordered the Diavalo 2.0 which basically had olives, anchovies, beef bacon,...mozarella cheese, and the usual tomato base on top of this really thin crust! "Magnificent" doesn't even justify how good this tasted! As for experimenting with their other Japanese items, I wasn't as impressed unfortunately... The calamari was "okay". The wagyu sando were almost well-done when we specifically asked for it to be cooked medium (the image shows how well done it is). The beef donburi was also "okay". Bottomline, I think their pizzas are the stars of this fine establishment. You can try their other items, but I can't really guarantee they'll be exceptional.More

Food was pretty good but attitude of staff really spoiled my experience and not one of them wore a mask correctly. Would not return.

Hello Emily and thank you for your review. We have cameras monitoring the restaurant and the staff are aware of repercussions for not wearing a mask correctly. We will investigate & take action if this was the case. Thank you for your feedback.

Terrible food, zero flavour covered in unnecessary sauce to disguise the poor produce I would imagine. Only thing that worked was the fries. This is a real shame the food used to be great but this was totally disappointing - zero effort for anything even...a basic saladMore

Thank you Charlie. Same team since opening. Same suppliers since opening. Same produce since opening. But after this review I'll fire everyone and start all over again. Thank you.

Back after lockdown! I missed this place so much. They were out of some things on the menu which is understandable but it didn’t bother any of us. AND new pizzas on the menu - took some home to the kids and they were pretty...decent after a quick oven situation.More

Had lunch here on a recent trip to Dubai. Love the Japanese-Italian fusion street food concept. The food was delicious, my particular favourite was the lotus cheesecake - quite possibly the best dessert I’ve EVER had!!
