A real gem in Luang Prabang! House specialties, such as fish penny sauce and fish laap were excellent. Very friendly staff. The owner took the trouble to explain how to eat the dishes Lao way. Very pleasant, quiet location, far from the crowds. Go there...before mass tourism discovers it.More

This restaurant has a riverside terrace across the road from the restaurant, which overlooks the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khon Rivers. You can while away a lots of time on such a peaceful scene. I didn't eat here but I did have an...avoacde smoothie, which was very disappointing, being bland and tasting of nothing more than ice. It was, however, a nice break on a hot day.More

Read about this restaurant before arriving to Luang Prabang. Simple restaurant, with focus on delivering true local taste. We had the the papaya salad, fish penny sauce, which is chili dip with fish roe - a must try, and the minced fish with herbs -...all accompanied with sticky rice. All dishes were excellent. The owner who speaks good English showed us how to eat the dishes, the way the locals enjoy them. This was with no doubt the best we had in all of Laos. An additional bonus is that you can dine with a good view of the river.More

All dishes were delicious, a must-try is the fish penny sauce, which is essentially fish roe stir-fried in chili oil. Use it as a dip or eat with rice! Ordered many dishes to share, and all at around USD8 per person!

We learnt about this restaurant through Marc Weins.vblog of food migratory. This restaurant located on the Mekong river bank. The owner can speak English, and very proud of the fact that Marc was there and did a blog about his restaurant. We ordered the fish...penny sauce, Mekong weed, ladd, sticky rice, and a Laos beer. It was so delicious that we savored them all. We had a best seat look out to the Mekong river so we could see the sunset while having dinner. The owner made sure to show us step by step how to eat the food in a proper way.More

Not sure how this place only get 3 views!!! We found this one from a YouTube video, and when we got there it has a really simple menu of English weird translation on it, and there’s only 1 table local ppl eating there. Compared to...most of the other river view restaurants, it’s so low key, and not busy at all. We hesitated, until we saw one local women ordered takeout, we decided to give a try. We ordered exactly what she ordered: fish soup, minced fish salad, minced fish chops. We also decided to order Papaya salad, and basil shrimp. All dishes end up to be a huge success!!!! It’s not touristy, not fancy as some restaurants of the town. But, it’s one of the best meals we had!!! They just need to do better marketing!More

Very good and fresh food at this local restaurant, honest prices and friendly, helpful service. We tried the fish soup, the fish salad and the specialty, fish eggs in chili, everything was delicious. Thank you for this great meal!!

We found this restaurant during our last visit to LP and decided to return during this our most recent visit. My wife and I managed to get seated at a table along with several local Laotian also having lunch. We had a local Lao fish...soup, a fish salad with various greens and a nice cold beer Lao. The service was quick and good and we were soon served our meal which was of excellent quality and extremely tasty. The restaurant quickly filled with locals getting a quick lunch. Our bill for the entire lunch was less than US10. Great price, great food and a pretty good ambiance.More

We found this small place by accident. Our hotel was adjacent to the small restaurant (sits about 30) and it was on the bank of the confluence of the Nam Khan and Mekong rivers and close to the Mekong Riverside Hotel and also close to...Wat Xiengthong. We watched from our balcony at lunch time and were amazed that it was full or over-flowing …and mostly by locals. Farangs were not frequenting the place. We decided to try the food and were happy that we did. The menu was basic with two main meals – hot spicy fish curry and a spicy fish salad, although fired chicken and other basics were listed, including various cold veggies such as cucumbers. The fish curry was excellent with large chunks of fresh water fish and an amazing and very tasty broth cooked with ginger, kaffer lime leaves and other spices. The fish salad was likewise very tasty and a bit spicy and eaten with lettuce leaves and other fresh green. The beer Lao was nice and cold and went well with the food. Prices are rather inexpensive with the curry and salad being priced at 35,000 Kip each and large beers for 10,000 Kip. Servings were large and service quick and efficient. We enjoyed the food so much that we returned another day and found the quality to once again being excellent. The restaurant is run by a family and mainly frequented for lunch however, towards the end of the week we noticed the restaurant to be filled once again …and with local people. Dress is casual with shorts and t-shirts permitted although the locals were dressed more elegantly.More
