We enjoyed our dinner here. It's located at the road side so it does seem abit weird / dirty. But I think it was a nice experience eating outdoor by the river (and the road hah). Not too sure if the restaurant still operates if...it rains though. It's buffet style (70k for adult). There's a good selection of meat and seafood too. We liked the pork belly most. Cooked food available too (fried chicken drumlet, fried mushroom, vegetables, fried rice etc.) Drinks are separately charged. Not sure if it's open for lunch. But if it is, I don't recommend lunch because it will be very hot.More

This place was full because of a very large Chinese tour group that made equally large noise. The food did not look ok so we turned away. You have your own steam boat to grill / cook you food. There are meats, veggies and mushrooms...but non of the looked fresh.More

It’s a quite rustic place and for those who may have hygienic concerns, probably not the place to go. But considering that all dishes chosen are more or less boiled in the hot soup, we did not have troubles the days thereafter. You pay a...lump sum amount and can eat as much as you want. Good selection ranging from vegetables to fish & meat, put all together in the hot soup and that’s about it. Good value for moneyMore

This is pretty popular in Asia and I'd had something similar in Thailand - Shabushi. You pick your own stuff and cook it on the hot coals and plate. Nice spot on the river side. Tables a bit old and there was an enomous Chinese...tour party there when I went with a couple of friends from my hostel. Heard that was a pretty common deal here, so maybe try it early or late and you can avoid the tour guide groups. Was much better when they left. It was a nice experience, but once was enough for me. It's pretty good value as you can load up yourself, but be careful to make sure everything is well cooked. I was lucky that a friend had eaten at places like this before, so he made sure that everything was well coooked, but not burnt. Nice to be by the river.More

We stumbled across this eatery as it was just around the corner from our hotel, on the waterfront. It seemed to be popular with locals and tourists alike so we decided to give it a go. You pay 60000 kip per person and can help...yourself to a large variety of food. There are a few levels of dining tables in this al fresco area and each table comes equipped with a BBQ. The staff light the BBQ for you and come around every once in a while to check on the heat levels. We tried pretty much everything they had on offer and were very full and happy by the end of it. They have seafood, meat, vegetables and processed foods that you can put on the BBQ as well as steamed dim sum dishes. They also have drinks available for sale. We were happy to be getting more vegetables in our diet and particularly enjoyed their mushrooms. There were cheese balls that go soft on the centre when cooked which were also a favourite. We had a very enjoyable meal here and thought it was excellent value.More

We ate there three times and we enjoyed the "sytem". You choose your food at the buffet and then you put it in or on the grill at your table. After some time you have a delicious broth and you can eat yourselves through a...variety of meats and fish. Every night there were hordes of Chinese tourists coming - both fascinating and compelling. Sorry to say that, but manners are important. You could teach your children how not to eat and behave when you show them these people. But - we had fun, enjoyed the food, left filled up. One word for the service. They are very industrious and friendly.More

1) Buffet style bbq and steamboat (2 in 1). It uses charcoal (instead of gas). 2) Offers very good variety of food - from different type of meat, veggies, tofu, glass noodle, mushrooms, sausage, fish, shrimp, etc. 3) The taste of the dishes come from...the sauce that is put in a plastic bottle on the table. 4) Good price - really value for money 5) Location is along the Mekhong river 6) Open from 5-10pmMore

This is a must stop for tourist. It is a bit like Mookata Steamboat which is quite popular around Asia now. Plenty of selection and plenty to eat. We were a bit skeptical at first as we were not too sure about the cleanliness but...am happy to report the food is good and clean. Our group ate happily for hours as it was eat all you want. We top up by having one coconut each, heaven! If only the coconut was cold.....Anyway, the food provided is half steamboat and half BBQ so you can have your pick on your preference. Lots of vegetables too and the sauces that go with the food was great!! Highly recommended as KIP60,000 per pax is a steal as food in LP are not cheap!More

The selection of foods that you get to cook yourself is overwhelming. Vegatables of all kinds for the broth and a large selection of fresh meats, pork, chicken, beef, sausages and more. Also a good selection of seafood including fish, shrimp and more. There are...also precooked dishes like spring rolls, fried chicken wings so there is something for everyone here. It's an interesting way to enjoy a meal. There is basically a small fire pit in the center of your table. The serve fills it would hot colas and places a pan the looks like a Mexican sombrero over the coals. The brim of the "hat" is then filled with broth and you can cook your vegetables in the broth. The center portion is a dome where you can grill your selections of meats and fish. I found the plain cooked meats to be a little bland so I made a marinade of soy sauce, sugar, a little salt, lime juice and some hot peppers that were all available there. Dip the meat in the marinade before cooking and the result was excellent. This is all you can eat and you can go back over and over again. And don't miss the all you can eat ice cream!! It's across the street in the guest house. A fun meal and different experience. We understand this is a traditional Laos way of cooking.More

A memorable and truly great culinary experience. Helpful staff give you pointers in terms of how to cook food and a huge range of fresh ingredients to choose from. Very reasonable priced and right by the Mekong. Our party of nine had a great evening.

Good views of the Mekong, cheap drinks (10k big Lao), and delicious meet, seafood, and veggies. You pick your food buffet style and then you cook it yourself on a hot place over coals and you make a soup around it at the same time....It's Anthony Bourdain worthy. FYI: It's also called BBQ Buffet Mekong.More
