Traditional Romanian food, cooked slowly in a village outside the city and served fast in the Old Town Market. Due to the small number of seats, we are unable to take reservations. Should there be no table available, waiting times are generally up to 15-20 minutes. Looking forward to have you as our guests!

after one day on the slopes, we were very hungry and arrived at the perfect location - this was something that we realized after we were encountered by the smell in the restaurant. we were welcomed by a very nice man which told us that the restaurant is full but we can order a coffee at the bar and in 10 minutes we will have a table for 2. we waited. at the table we were surprised by the best waiter i have ever seen. in 2 minutes he took our order (please take into consideration that we did not read the menu since he presented very well the details). 10 minutes later our meal was on the table. i did not know where to look and what to love first: the food, the tast, the fact that this waiter in 5 minutes took the orders from 5 tables, talked with them in Romania, in English (and it was a very good English) or to enjoy the view from the restaurant window. i strongly recommend the place for lunch and dinner and even if you have that feeling that "you want to eat something but you do not know what". for sure this incredible team will provide you some recommendations and everything will be solved. i hope that this waiter will be here also the next time when we will go to "La Ceaun". Also, hope that this waiter will be used by the company to train all the youngest ones. He is terrible incredible and we all know that in this industry this kind of people are hard to be found and to be kept.

It is always crowded which means you might have to wait a bit but its worth it. It’s crowded for a reason and the reason is the very nice meal you will have, plenty of options in the catalogue and thankfully not far too many so that you get confused. Get the bean soup for starters its a must. The staff was very helpfull and eager to suggest dishes and help ( at least Catalin who was serving us),generally kind people good food good drinks nice atmosphere, what more does someone need?

Very tasty food and very nice atmosphere, Loredana was very sweet and chatty and she looked after us very well by asking frequently if we like the food or if we need anything else. I am native romanian but my friends from Greece,Albania,England were very impressed by the traditional Romanian food that we served in the restaurant. All the members of staff were very friendly and nice and we will definitely come back before we leave. Keep up with the great job and service.

Really average food and very poor service. I’m really not a picky person, but the “ciorba de fasole” was unbelievably tasteless, way too consistent for a supposed liquid dish and lacked any flavor. And on top of that, very expensive for a local place. However, as of looks go, it did the trick.
My friend had fish roe salad (“salata de icre”), felt sick and nauseous 15 minutes after finishing and had to spend some time in the bathroom afterwards.
The waitress Mihaela was rude and irritated when I asked why they don’t have “ciorba de burta” on weekdays, which is a very traditional food you can find in any Romanian restaurant. PS Mihaela: rolling your eyes and making surprised faces ain’t a good PR
move.
The location is lovely and the lemonade was great, so I encourage you to go there on a lazy afternoon to have a drink with a view, but for food I’d rather pick Sergiana any day.

Many thanks for your detailed feedback.
Firstly, regarding the bean soup, I understood that you ate all of it, and when our colleague Mihaela asked you if the soup was good, you said yes.
We would highly appreciate the client’s transparency when they are asked if everything is alright. We don’t ask you for no reason, we ask you because we care. Nobody is perfect but we give all our best in what we do. Furthermore, if there is a question of different tastes, because we do not have the same opinion about food, we give the chance to the client to change the dish with something else. Regarding the quality of bean soup, it is the best-selling soup and with the best feedback. That’s why, it could have been much better if we knew you don’t like it.
Regarding the fish roe salad, we can only tell you that a person should be very careful when eating a large portion with a lot of appetite, there is a high risk of not feeling well after. And I am telling you from my own experience, but everyone should know his own body. If there were any doubts about quality or freshness, the person who ate would realize after the first tiff, it is very easy with the fish products in seeing if something is wrong with them.
Regarding “ciorba de burta”, we only have it only on weekend for well-founded reasons: it is a rather complex dish that is mainly requested on weekends and one of our basic rules is to offer fresh products to our customers.
We look forward to seeing you on weekends, if you want to serve it.
Regarding Mihaela's hospitality, given the current situation and our staff facial expressions through the mask it is very difficult to figure out what the other says or do through this mask, we would greatly appreciate you to consider that it is a really torture for our employees to wear mask and gloves for hours, at almost 30 °C.
We are sincerely sorry for your unpleasant experience, and even sorrier that we could not change your opinion during your visit with us, and hope that this response clarifies some of your doubts regarding our services.

Not many healthy options. We asked to get plain potatoes or rice and remove something from a plate in menu but they could not make it.
All choices were really heavy in fats and calories.
Finally we order some traditional "salads" as we thought that would be.
It turned out there was a mashed eggplant mash and bean mash.
We had also a typical Romanian dinner in Bucharest everything was delicious so it not about the local kitchen.

This feedback is very surprising and disappointing. We serve hundreds of customers each week and as you can see from other reviews, the feedback is usually complimentary.On the other hand, everyone has their own right and opinion and we fully understand that we may not be to everybody’s taste. When this is the case, feedback is welcomed and used constructively. As an advice, I recommend you align your expectations with the type of establishment you are visiting and do more research, before you decide on a place (brewery, pub or restaurant) that will work for your personal preferences.

Nu recomand!
The food presented very pompously by the waiter, although it had nothing special, something mediocre at an exaggerated price.

This is an excellent venue for a hearty meal, served in an efficient and friendly way.
The first point to be made is that Catalin, our server, was superb - he really knew the menu and delivered service with gusto and charm.
My sister enjoyed one of the hearty soups served in bread, whilst I opted for the meatball and potato meal. Both were excellent.
We had two Romanian desserts (the pancake and the blinske) and both were enjoyed.
The beers flowed!
Really recommend this place a for a really enjoyable meal in this unique city.

The service was incredible and our waiter Cătălin was outstandingly kind and friendly. Also the food was delightful (-we had the lamb chop and "tochitura"). The food comes pretty quick even though the restaurant is always full at 8-9pm.
The restaurant has a modern but traditional style which is a really good blend for when you are in search of good food and a little tradition.

The host was welcoming and cheerful, and waiting time was unusually short giving the fact that the restaurant was full and had a waiting list.
Tripe soup was rather bland and lacked texture and taste. Did not enjoy it.
Main course - "bulz ardelenesc" - was properly made and fresh.
Will come here again for the main course.

I would like to start by saying that, even if you are not the biggest fan of traditional Romanian food, this restaurant is worth trying.
First and foremost, the food exceeded my expectations (I am more of an international cuisine kind of person) and I found myself finishig all of it, even though I was rather reticent at first.
Secondly, the service was great. Although it was quite a busy time of the day, the waiting time was shorter than we had expected. In addition to this, the staff was really friendly and helpful, which, to be honest, made our evening more enjoyable.
As for the prices, I do believe they are (even if not the lowest) acceptable, taking into account the food, services, location and so on.
In conclusion I would recommend this restaurant to whomever is in the mood for some traditional Romanian food.

We spent a wonderful evening at La ceaun restaurant, in the old city. Our waiter, Cătălin, presented us the menu in a professional manner, with a lot of humor and good mood. He knew what to recommend to each of us. We served ciolan with cabbage, lamb with mushrooms and grilled pork with onion jam and potatoes. Everything was very tasty. We didn't wait long for food and the prices are average. Thank you Cătălin for this evening!

It's an important thing to protect your culture. One of the ways this happens is through the sharing of traditional food. If you can do that, and raise the level at the same time, then you've really performed a service. Not only to customers looking for a great meal, but to the protection and promotion of National identity and pride. That's what is happening here at La Ceaun. Our extremely friendly waitress was happy to speak English. Even with the limitations of the conditions due to Covid-19, we had a great meal. We started with the Bean and Pork soup served in a bread bowl. How delicious to scoop up the soup with the sides of the bread. A great begining. Now I'm going to focus on the Pork Chop. The pork is raised locally especially for the restaurant. It was one of the best pork chops I've ever had. The quality of the pork was superb and the preparation perfect. The sides equally excellent. The city is clearly going to become a must see destination, if it hasn't already. La Ceaun is a must visit restaurant. Next time lamb chops.

Good food and full big plates. Our host was a cool guy, Catalin. If you get lost in the temptations of the menu, at a glance, Catalin seems to guess your tastes and recommends exactly what you want.

Beautiful nourishing food!! Highly recommend to experience authentic Romanian cooking. Daniel Ivan was super friendly and made us feel very welcome, speaking English too and the specials he recommended were delicious. A family friendly spot where you won't be disappointed.

Went for dinner there, looking for something traditional to eat. Had my mind on tochitura de porc but instead got myself some good ol' pomana porcului. First thing first, the price was way to expensive for this dish. And the dish itself was nothing special (not really a fan of meat on top polenta and the sausages were meh), altough it was pretty good. The bluebarry lemonade was lame, really cheap taste. But the papanasi was very good.
The atmosphere, the papanasi and Daniel, who was kind, always joking and helpful with recomandations, made the dinner enjoyable.
