I know this place for several years back and 3-4-5 ago we had almost perfect meals at this restaurant. So since we were there we sat in - looking forward to another great experience - pity this time did not happen. why? here are the...why's...
Location on the Cetatii Street - near the Thalia room of the theater of Sibiu. A generous spot frequented by tourists and easy to find . No parking since it is not accessible by car.
Food - now here comes the pain. For the starter I ordered a beef tartar - surprise , got a minced meat something, mixed together with onions - I was wondering for a few seconds if I shall end it back to kitchen and pic something else ... still got urged by my girlfriend to taste it - taste was good, even than it looked awful the taste was surprisingly good, also the toast bread - well it was burned - carbonized here and there ... I cleaned the most part of it in order to be able to eat it ... so not the best, that's for sure.
Second plate - mash potatoes with an oven backed duck leg - in theory nothing shall be wrong with this dish... once again proven wrong - the duck leg was tasty - nothing to say - backed nicely ... but the potatoes, well different story - with lumps, blunt and resembling to a sort of glue (majority remained on the plate). a bit of freshly ground black or green pepper makes the difference - or a bit of finely sliced green onions ... small but effective tricks ... instead I got a piece of parsley on top of the dish and a generous amount of spiced oil in the plate - what if I wasn't a fan of spicy food? Overall an average combination of food - not great but also not bad ... minor things make the difference between a good and an average plate.... here to many mistakes this time.
Prices - well not that bad , if it would have been a good meal - in this case I would say a bad price to quality ratio - especially with so many very good places in Sibiu - to pick from.
I hope that they will improve , and I do hope to return in the future and write about excellent dishes and not about mediocrity and average dishes like today.More
