Beautiful outdoor sitting in a cobble stone with lovely fairy lights above it was too cold to sit outside, but thankfully they had heaters to warm up. Ordered aubergine with pomegranate and tahini and yoghurt dish which was beautiful cooked up perfection. I ordered a Rakia and was asked if I wanted balkan or Bulgaria and answered Bulgarian only to be asked again and then brought out their highest end Rakia which cost 10Lev for 50mls . I would suggest clarifying which Rakia you are getting before being served. Service was good and a nice ambience.

We weren't sure what to expect. We knew that it was highly rated but we don't usually trust reviews. They didn't have free tables so they actually offered a table in the near bar which is probably under the same owner 'NatBar' and told us they will serve the same food/had same menu. So we agreed and my partner had a appetizer, main and dessert, while I had only main and a drink. Everything they served was made of fresh and tasty products and they showed great attention to details. Even the pink tomatoes had great taste! The dessert was cheesecake brownie which has soo tasty! I highly recommend this venue.

The food is nothing special, I truly don’t understand why they recommend it so much. Inside is very small and the atmosphere inside is quite dull. On the outside was quite cold and not all table had a heater to keep you warm.

It was total chaos: 1 the white wine was too hot. 2.the red wine was also too hot. 3.we ordered starters and main course: they brought all dishes together and refused to wait. We had no place on the table and it was total chaos. 4.we asked for the wine menu and we had to order eight different wines because they were all out of stock.5.we ordered coffee and they forgot. They asked us how dinner was: we explained it was not good and we even did not get an excuse, an offered drink or a rebate. We come here never again.

I had high expectations for Pavaj in Plovdiv, but our experience was ruined before we even got the chance to try the food. We arrived as a family, hoping for a nice lunch, but were met with shockingly rude and unprofessional service. The hostess was completely uninterested in doing her job—she was too busy flirting with two men who cut in front of us while we waited to ask about available tables. Instead of managing the queue of guests, she left us standing there and went to chat with what seemed like her friends. Frustrated, I approached a male waiter for help. He told me to wait while he delivered orders, which I understood, but then, without even looking at me properly, just said, “No tables.” He could have told me that from the start instead of making me wait unnecessarily—especially since I was holding a small child in my arms. I can’t comment on the food, as we never got the chance to try it. But with service this unprofessional and dismissive, I have no intention of ever returning. There are plenty of great restaurants in Plovdiv that actually respect their customers.

As a Bulgarian/English family, we have been coming to Plovdiv for 26 years. We have an apartment close to the city centre. Ate in Pavasha tonight, probably for the 4th or 5th time since the Kapana area was developed. When Pavasha opened it was “the” place to eat in Kapana. Unfortunately what we experienced tonight was mediocre food from a very limited menu, abrupt service and the smallest glass of white wine I have ever had to pay for in my life!!! Please bear in mind that this region of Bulgaria is famous for beautiful wines and has copious cellars of various grapes. We complained about the minuscule amount of wine in the glass to be told abruptly that this was the measure they offered. My wife (Bulgarian) tried to point out to the staff that this was way short of what any tourist never mind Bulgarian would expect in a restaurant. A bit sad, as Kapana is an amazing place for a meal or a drink with friends or family. But we will definitely never eat there again. Mr P Taylor Southampton UK. Ps, the waitress told my wife that the reason for the low level of the measure, was that the wine glass had a wide bottom, that’s a new one on me. It’s also become very expensive and there are lots more beautiful much cheaper restaurants within metres.

Unfortunate Fail. We ordered some food. They brought half of the dishes and suddenly the waiter said they ran out of the other dishes leaving my partner with no food. She ordered something but no luck. She ended up not having dinner. Unfortunate, if she told us before there ran out of the other dishes we would of leave.

We visited the restaurant on a cold Monday evening, the only option offered was to sit outside (next to the heating lamps), which we accepted. Initially we waited for about ten minutes to get the drinks we ordered, no idea what it took so long. The wine that arrived, was a very small quantity - never seen such ridiculous amount being served in any restaurant (8.90lev for this). Only thing that saved them from one star review was that the food was delicious. Exactly next to us there was big group of foreign tourists. Upon paying their bill the guy who acted as manager offered them complimentary digestive drinks. Nice gesture indeed, but it is very ugly and cheap when offered only to big groups who make a descent bill. Either you offer it to all guests or to none. On a contrary we were rushed to pay the bill. Perhaps would never repeat it, even though the food quality was good. The service level let them down.

I did not feel welcomed from the start. I took a taxi from my hotel approximately 6k away. This night it was raining and chilly. I happened upon the staff closing the patio, putting away the olive oil and balsamic bottles, letting down the umbrellas etc. I arrived at 9:15pm and asked the staff if I could be accommodated as a solo traveler. Initially one of the male staff who I later discerned was a manager told me there was no room for me. This restaurant has posted hours to 11:30pm and was recommended to me by a colleague at a winery with whom they do business. After I pressed the issue I was allowed in to the mezzanine dining area only to discover there were three available tables. I was seated at a small table in the center of the dining room. The server was very nice and indeed I think she intervened on my behalf with the manager downstairs in order to allow me to dine. The food was excellent and the wine list by the half bottle was great for a solo traveler like me. Approximately 45 minutes into my repast there I was asked to make a final order for the kitchen- it was at this point 10:15pm. In order to not make any 'waves' I ordered a final course to go. I felt hurried and again unwelcomed. I feel as though I was a nuisance for the staff and though I left a generous tip and enjoyed the meatballs later the next day I would recommend only going if you are sure the manager is in a good mood.

Nice location, generally good service. Salads and mains are simple, traditional dishes and quite tasty. Drinks however are ridiculously priced - a bottle of sauvignon blanc recommended was sold to us for 85 lv, which is double the price for a bottle at Andre Tokev’s in Sofia - an entirely different dining experience. Left feeling a bit ripped off.

Ate upstairs. Comfortable setting. Friendly server. Tasty seafood soup, full of seafood. Pork schnitzel was a really large portion, served perfectly hot, with delicious roasted potatoes, and a salad. Reasonable price. I liked this restaurant!

I had a superb meal at Pavaj, indeed it was my favourite meal in a week of travelling across Bulgaria. It came highly recommended, in various guide books, & has won multiple culinary awards. It’s a fairly casual place, with minimal signage, the only indication it was Pavaj being the packed out tables. The location in the bustling, hip Kapana district, suits it’s laid back, youthful vibe & eclectic, unfussy decor. Be sure to book, as the restaurant isn’t large, just a handful of covers across 2 floors within, & a few al fresco tables on the pavement. The welcome was warm & service friendly & helpful. The menu offers a variety of intriguing small plates, & everything was absolutely delicious - fresh, zingy & prepared with care & know how. Top pick in Plovdiv.

The sad thing is that this could be a very good restaurant however a few things ruined the visit. Be aware have plenty of cash they do not accept credit cards. The restaurant states the price range of 6-14 leva just be careful probably not wise to order the special. Our party were told the special was lamb and risotto, well the lamb was fatty and cold the risotto stodgy the stunning thing was the price 46.50 Lev a portion even accepting the ingredients cost it should have been no more than 30 leva if you factor in the quality of the dish no more than 15 leva.

I traveled to Plovdiv with a friend and we tried this restaurant. Great experience! The place has a very good location in downtown, and the atmosphere was excellent. The food has a very good presentation and everything was delicious (I tried Bulgarian style meat) A place to add to your "must go" list of restaurants
