Come here with my girlfriend, first time I had been to Stambijski and I was so impressed. The service was fantastic from the moment we got there to the moment we left. Inside the garden area and the building are very elegant and a great setting for an evening meal.
It’s expensive for Nis but you get what you pay for, for English people reading this expect to pay maybe just short or similar of what you would pay in England compared to other places in Nis which would be a 1/3 of English prices. However I was happy to pay this as the quality of food and service was better than anywhere else I’d been.
If I could offer advice to staff there, I would recommended a couple who are dining to order one main dish to share, but accompany this with side dishes. I found I had a plate of lamb and my girlfriend a plate of chicken which tasted great but one would have been enough and then we could have taken advantage of sides. I think this advice would be welcome.
To summaries a fantastic place, great service, good setting and great food. Keep up the good work.

We visited this restaurant at the end of January and it was a fantastic experience. The food was amazing (especially the salads), the service was amazing, and it’s the only restaurant I’ve been in in Serbia that didn’t smell like smoke. We will definitely return.

Truly magical, a New Balkan cuisine restaurant located in a 143-year-old home in Nis, Serbia.
The staff were incredible, we had a fun lunch with our lovely waiter and loved the warm welcome we received.
The atmosphere was very relaxing as you dined in the garden outdoors, imagine fine dining in your backyard, this was the ambience, surrounded by beautiful trees.
A wonderful wine list of the very best wines from the Balkans, with a small sample of fine Italian wines. We were recommended a Serbian Pinot Noir '2012 Aleksandrovic Trijumf Noir' to complement our lamb, it is definitely now on the top of our list. Excellent value at $50 AUD.
The food was exceptional. We started out with a very fresh Caesar Salad, followed by a lamb risotto full of flavour, we couldn't pass up the lamb and were grateful we didn't, it was very tasty and tender.
If you are in Nis, then don't miss your chance dining at Stambolijskis Restaurant, you will be taken on a food and wine journey to remember.

Big disappointment !!! Waiters disorganized, food selection quite large, but the quality very very poor. Cold food is brought in front of the guests, meat made without much imagination ... Chicken and turkey completely dry toasted .... very bad. Not a restaurant to recommend.

articulate and telling. well versed and catalogued and with slow cooking recipes. however what we had, pork was not according to that theocracy and it was good, and the veal and the vegetables were descriptively emblematic but not much more. the aromatic rakia were of interest and not the wines and beers. the professional and proud of themselves chief waiter(s) were more garrulous than of value. the clientele was willing for the ride and easily charmed. the location and the setting rather exceptional. worth trying if you are after a historic choice, though stoically, and the market is still clumsy

I unfortunately have to give to this restaurant only three stars because the waiter was not courteous with us. The quality of the food is in fact 5 stars, but we found a waiter who used a very unpleasant irony because we were Italians. He started making jokes that weren't funny at all. At the end of the dinner, even after leaving him a big tip, he didn't even say hello to us when we left. If foreigners are not well liked in this restaurant, maybe they could write it already at the entrance... I recommend the owner to talk to some of his waiters. Recommended for the food, but not for the service.

Maybe the self claimed chef had a night off or maybe he just hadn't his night but fact remains that dining was a disappointment. They claim to cook 'new Balkan cuisine' but let's leave the new out of it. Our appetizer was ok but was not served at the same time, our enormous chunk of tuna was overcooked and yes, dessert was nice. The waiters were not overly busy in making you feel welcome but just went through the motions to get you out quick. And on top of it all it was for Serbian standards an expensive meal. That said, the ambiance is indeed very nice. That much of it's claim is true.

I came with my friends and with high expectations after plenty of recommendations. We were 8 ppl.2 of us ordered lamb, me and another one of us ordered veal. Both dishes cooked in the traditional way. All 4 dishes arrived, and they looked the same, smelled the same and tasted the same. I asked the waiter if he was sure that I was eating veal and not lamb as it was EXACTLY like the lamb my friend was eating opposite me, and he kept insisting it was veal. Lost cause, lost appetite, lost credibility. I refused to have anything else after that, or to leave any tips at the end. To add insult to injury, after paying and leaving the table, the waiter found one of us who was still lingering inside and vented his anger on him after discovering we left almost no tips. I am not stupid. Lamb is not veal, and veal is not lamb. Do not expect tips if I order a chocolate mousse and you get me a lemon merengue.

The reason we went to Niš was to experience the cuisine of this restaurant and it was definitely worth it. When we said we wanted to change our table because the weather was hot, they said we could choose the table that we wanted and then we sat at a nice table. The ambiance, food, desserts and wine were all very good. And "Bratislav" (Braca), who served us was a very kind and friendly person. Thank you so much to all these kind people who made our Niš experience even better. We will definitely visit again.

Service is good, waiters are super friendly, but food is not quite good. We had pljeskavica chef’s specialty and the taste was really bad - in quality and in taste. Other dishes we had were ok, but nothing special. Would jot come again.

Excelen restourant in vity centar of Niš. Great atmosfere and excelent staff. an excellent waiter , he can recommend a suitable dish to your taste. The food was very tasty and fresh. We ordered salads, fish, pork kolenica, stambolijski pleskavica... everything was perfect. Higly recomanded place to visit and enjoy

A restaurant with a large covered terrace. The children's playground is located right next to it. It can get very noisy, especially when parents are indoors and not watching their offspring. As there are not many restaurants in the city, we went there 2 times. The dishes are plentiful but not very tasty.
