My large family of 10 was having trouble finding a spot to eat in Grad, but Paolo was happy to take our reservation. It took us some time to figure out what we wanted to order, but our waiter was very patient with us. Our food arrived very quickly and it was amazing. We ordered a wide variety of food, from the meat platter, tuna, risotto, everything on the menu was unreal. I would recommend the house white wine. 10/10 would love to go back

We had a delicious dinner at Restaurant Groppo on our recent stay in Zadar. My partner had the scampi Buzara style and I had the grilled sea bass-both were fresh and tasty. The service was friendly and attentive. Recommend.

We ate here twice, both times were equally as good. We tried the meat platter and the fish platter, which were both big in size and excellent quality. The salmon filet was also top-notch. Really good service and cozy atmosphere.

I can’t say anything about the food because we had the most unfriendly waiter I ever had.
We (a group of ten wanting to have fish, bottled wine etc) waited ten minutes before he came to our table and he told us “Hurry up, you had ten minutes and now I have five.” To top it all off when we were obviously baffled he added “You can leave if you want.” After that we left the restaurant.
I know that they don’t care because they have enough guests but really don’t understand such a behaviour which I have never encountered before.

We had very fresh tuna carpaccio and grope. Food was very very tasteful and waiters are very friendly, helpful, nice. Lots of choice between traditional Croatian food and regular food. The terrace is next to Zadar Cathedral, very cosy!

We have already written to other guests that fish is bought directly from fishing boats and that is why it is extremely fresh. It’s nice to know that guests recognize this and appreciate it. Thanks for the review .. 🍷

This was the first restaurant we tried when in Zadar for a long weekend, and I saved the review until I had tried others so we could compare.
The location is convenient in the old town with pretty older brick buildings around it. Nice setting with bright flowers out front over the wall, lights over tables for the evening, comfortable seating.
The menu had a lot of options on it which sounded lovely and there were many things we could have picked. We went for a fish (580kn) platter for two which came with 2 tuna steaks, 2 whole white fish, mussels, shell on prawns and a whole squid. It also included one side. Fish cooked perfectly, yummy and enjoyed the meal.
Would recommend. Range of menu choices and prices

We waited an hour for the food. Wich would not be a problem if the food wasnt horrible!! We ordered a meat plate for two, the meat was dry and unseasoned and it was served with less than avarage baked potatos and vegetables (again not seasoned). Wayyy too expensive for such poor quality. Simply unacceptable! Never coming back and would not recommend!

After coming back from the national park I was very hungry so went looking for somewhere to dine and I noticed this wonderful place so went in to see what it was like . It was magnificent.
The outdoor dining area is very pretty and full of wonderful decor . The staff are very friendly and are very helpful especially when recommending an item on the menu . The food was devine .
I went for the John Dory with homemade gnocchi and a wonderful sauce to compliment the dish . The fish was very soft and melted in the mouth. The gnocchi was perfect and the sauce was out of this world .
If you are looking for a wonderful dining experience then look no further . This place will have you covered .

Restaurant is located in the historical center, just near the tower/forum. What I especially liked, was the service, waiters pay a lot of attention to visitors, also speaking English/Croatian/German languages (those are the only I heard). Food was prepared really fast, octopus salad was really fresh and tasty, pasta with mussels was also delicious, but with a common problem for such a dish - parts of shells crashing on the teeth.(i dont even know if it is possible to cook mussels without them, happens to often). All in all restaurant is comfortably designed and has a good-relaxin' atmosphere. It is also possible to pay with a card.
In past reviews on Google, the most complaints i saw was about service, i think restaurant made an improvment and now it's perfekt, hope it will stay so on a season too.
For the future visitors, i wish you have a great vacation!😀

The food does not worse the price.
First we wanted to go to another top rated restaurant where same fish was for 10 € less but unfortunately, all tables were booked.
Then we saw on the read back this restaurant and asked if they have darada fish.
Waiter ourside said yes sure. Ok so we let in.
Then he said that ou stay better outside there is more wind. Like inside is nothing but no thats false, they just want you to sit and show how good they are that there are people.
Inside is pretty windy and well.
Then waiter did not put any salt and paper. On other tables was ok.
The worse part is now, 30€ for main dish -the fish.
Taste not good at all.
Mont fish like just taken from freeze.
Side dishes .... just wanted to ask whats that....
spinach potatoes or something but it was not possible to eat.
Ordered fresh limonade / that was lemon juice and water. Thats it.
I dont know maybe l am so spoiled with life and good european restaurants but that was awdul.
I always leave tips and l am a 100% service person, I highly respect all who provides good service.
Here was nothing.

I don't know what's wrong with this review..
The one who claims that European fine dining restaurants have fresh fish and we have frozen fish, which is actually nonsense because we are a restaurant on the Adriatic coast and we have fishing partners who bring us freshly caught fish every morning, claims that he knows better than the other 99% of guests who wrote the reviews. That is a somewhat self-centered and very confident statement from a person who has no experience in recognizing the food that has been served. I assume that it is about the revenge writing of a person who was quite persistent to sit in the VIP zone of reserved tables without a reservation. We're sorry, but IT CAN'T BE THAT WAY, no matter what you wrote in the review, but OK, anyway, thank you for what you wrote.. ;)
P.S. We don't have sea bream on the menu at all.

Restaurant is located in the city centre of Zadar, we were seated right next to the street which was a great location. Service was really hospitable, food was great (recommend the gnocchi) and the white housewine was also really good.
I was in Zadar for a few days and this was the best dining experience of all of them, with reasonable prices. Can 100% recommend!

We had a lunch in this restaurant and tried cuve, lobster with tagliatelle, tuna steak, as well as pasta with seashells (pasta groppo). It was delicious. Beside the delicious food I need to recommend and service, especially Ben. Thank you for everything. We will come back again.

It was horrible. The price was so amazing high for that quality. The bread was so dry and tasted like a old foot. Very, very sad for that beautiful location. The service was very bad too. My Rumpsteak tasted like a watersteak.

Ten of us enjoyed our time and meal at Groppo on a Saturday evening and we are so happy we chose this restaurant. Bennie and Boris expertly led us through the menu with recommendations teaching us along the way. We had starters, soups, and finally the sea bass, which was excellent.
We never desired anything throughout our meal and the service was wonderful as well. The gentlemen were incredibly knowledgeable about their menu and very patient with our many questions. I highly recommend trying this wonderful restaurant.

We have a very big group & are visiting from Hawai’i. 90% of our group work in the hospitality industry & this was by far one of the best dining experiences we’ve had! They were able to accommodate all 30 of us. The service from EVERY single person who worked there was genuine, thoughtful & very engaging. As someone who’s worked in the industry for 22 years, I am always aware of every restaurant’s staff, how they move & support each other. Service was flawless! We ordered 2 whole fish that were caught today & everything from texture to flavor was AMAZING! We like to eat family style, so we ordered fried calamari, seafood risotto, black risotto, octopus carpaccio, groppo steak, lamb shank, & truffle gnocchi. The quality of food was amazing, but the service is really what made this a memorable experience for us!
