I’m sorry- this is going to be long….Just thinking of this place makes me so happy! Briefest summary: If you are in zadar, and you like to eat delicious food, with excellent service, at amazing value for money, go here, you will NOT regret it!...We were a group of four ladies on a four night break to Zadar. We were recommended Kornat by a local, and we are eternally grateful 😍 the food is absolutely perfect; every course exceptionally tasty and beautifully presented- service was smooth, elegant, charming- nothing was too much trouble.
We enjoyed our first evening at Kornat so much, that we asked on the spot to reserve again for the following night…we had a reservation elsewhere (supposedly very special) for our final evening, but after arriving to an aloof reception, a list of unavailable food items, and an unchecked wasp problem, left and made a call to our friends at Kornat- who thankfully managed to squeeze us in on a fantastic table despite being fully booked.
Honestly, Krisko (or Saint Krisko as I call him), Sandra, and all of the amazing team couldn’t have been more charming, fun and welcoming to us; we felt like princesses- and to be fair, the extravagant and impressive decor of the restaurant supported that feeling :) (just pop to the loos and you’ll see what I mean)
From the very first bite of the complimentary tuna appetiser, we were hooked. Over three evenings, we sampled grilled tuna steak, duck breast, monkfish and gnocchi in truffle sauce, mussels, whole grilled sea bass (wow!), veal with ravioli in truffle sauce, home made tagliatelle in wild mushroom sauce (heaven), a seafood starter…. Literally everything was perfect. Having trained as a chef and worked in Michelin-started kitchens, I have a tendency to be picky!
We were also lucky enough to sample every dessert on the menu 😍 creative, delicate and presented in a fun style.
I could wax lyrical about each and every course (and let’s not even start on the delicious and very reasonably priced wine!), but I can’t say enough, how special the team made our each and every visit.
Again, not only was (silver) service by the (white gloved) waiting staff absolutely on point (highly attentive but not overbearing), but just the kindness and hospitality we received from all the team at Kornat was one of the absolute highlights of our trip- and in a place as beautiful as Zadar that’s an achievement. We genuinely felt special, absolutely at home, and that we were among friends in their company. Suffice to say, next time I visit Zadar, I absolutely will be returning to Kornat (I’ll probably have the veal!), and can’t wait to catch up with the gang!More
