The duck was perfect as was the sommelier's recommendation. The setting is quiet and understated, the service attentive. Enjoy.

Had a wonderful meal here, catering for 6 of us. Very informative of the oils, wines etc. Little hidden gem in a quiet area out of the main town.

My partner and I came here for lunch on a whim before getting on our boat trip booked for 3pm at the nearby harbour. We were shocked to see so much on offer for their lunch service, and settled for starters of foie gras and...raw venus clams, which were both tasty but not exceptional. Our server was knowledgeable but had limited English, thankfully my partner is fluent in German and the server was able to explain our dishes to her before serving as well as breaking down the different olive oils available at every table that went best with each kind of dish. For mains, I chose the 45-day dry aged steak cooked medium rare which came with a side of grilled corn and buttered potatoes. My partner opted for the lobster linguine. The steak was packed with flavour from the aging process and you could taste that it had come off a grill, it was cooked to perfection. The corn side was also a pleasant surprise, as it offered a smoky and sweet contrast to the deep umami flavour of the steak. The linguine on the other hand, was a tad bit bland but came with large pieces of lobster-- perhaps they wanted the focus to be on the star of the dish, but a bit more attention to the sauce and pasta would have elevated it. The local wine was lovely, and paired with both our starters and mains well. Overall, a very decent lunch to have come across on a whim, but needs some refinement. The crepe dessert that we so desperately wanted to try was also not available to order, which dampened the experience a little bit near the end. Alas we would still like to come for dinner at this place the next time we are in Pula :)More

This is a wannabe place in the pricier segment. On their webpage they talk about Family, Istrian Cuisine and Tradition. What you get is some strange asia-confused mix. I don‘t have a better name for boringly executed tuna sashimi and raw seafood starters. And then...you can choose from a variety of risottos, Kobe beef (why?), other, more native meat, and fried fish & seafood. With some wasabi, teriyaki etc. thrown in here and there… But the main problem is not the Menu. It is its execution which is all over the place! They know how to grill and cook meat & are sadly bad when it comes to fish&seafood. But at the end, on the table, what you get is bland and unimaginative. Sides are overcooked, unseasoned, the fried stuff is just that - all one texture. There is nothing on those plates to breakout the boring. Serving fried seafood with potato chips, cooked octopus with DOA vegetables - it’s all just more of the same same. The jus and demi-glaces are there only to paint the plates - very little sensory input if any. Fries are served with canned ketchup(?) And, don‘t even bother with desserts! Chocolate cake is a Browny with a thick, fatty glaze, hazelnut cake an artificial tasting fluff. You get better cakes at the bakery… All in all this is not enough for the category they want to play in! And than, there is the over attentive, fussy service. Overexplaining (sorry guys, I know what I ordered, don’t need your finger in my plate, even gloved one!) and fidgeting around you… Wine selection is very good. Ambience is so, so. Don’t like looking at bondaged seafood counting their last breaths next to me in an huge desolate aquarium. Two instead of one point only because of sashimi tuna which was fresh. But can you even call it sashimi if it’s just one tiny piece on a plate?More

Personnel was very nice and relaxed. We had an excellent experience. The waiter presented us with a tray of fresh fish, we choose one and they grilled it to perfection for us. The vegetables were prepared the Croatian way, which was a great addition. the...whole evening was just perfect!More

This definitely felt like a restaurant that was trying to be something that it’s not. The waiters wearing white gloves and high end prices (for Croatia) were very much out of place. The food was good, but just as good as other places we visited...in Pula. When ordering the lamb chops (which were delicious) the waiter suggested medium rare. I prefer medium for my lamb and requested so. Unfortunately that request was disregarded and the lamb was medium rare. I assume that is how the chef likes to cook it, as this was also the recommendation from the waiter. In the end it tasted great, but not what i would expect from a “fine dining” establishment. Waiter was friendly and dessert was not interesting. Cant say i would jump to recommend this place unfortunately.More

A bit more expensive than some of the other local restaurants but well worth the extra. The food, presentation and service cannot be faulted. Nice sweet and sour fish small dish as a complimentary small starter dish which was delicious. Tuna and lamb meals cooked...exactly as ordered and the most comprehensive wine list seen for a long time. A culinary experience.More

Several years ago locals have recommended this restaurant as a value for money fish restaurant.Unfortunately, we did not visit at these good times, but this summer. Now this is a pretentious restaurant with short menu & crazy prices & poorly prepared food and we deeply...regret we have visited this place. The owners have obviously invested in interior decoration and uniforms of staff, but they do not understand that it does not make a good restaurant, just an (unsuccessful) illusion. Waiters wearing white gloves look really bizarre there. Greetings from the kitchen - a bite of grilled smoked tuna was good, fish soup good, octopus salad average, a very small portion. Grilled fish was poorly prepared and dried, with damaged skin. Duck breast were served raw. Swiss chard has not been cleansed before cooking, served unclean, we found in it a big black piece of something that looked like weed. When asked if we were enjoying ourselves, we answered the waiter that we didn't really, he ran away instead of asking what was wrong. He did not even try to offer an apology. This means that he is either aware of the fact that the kitchen does not have the necessary technical knowledge and does not know how to prepare the meal or/and he does not care about the guest. It is both devastating. Money thrown away, worst spent EUR 100 on lunch for two.More

The Lanterna is quite formal dining if you like that sort of thing. For me I prefer something more relaxed. The menu is quite expansive. We dined there as it was close to our hotel.
