We had 5 dishes and 4 of them were truly excellent. The genial and attentive manager took our concerns about the fifth dish on board, and was good enough to take it off the bill, unasked. The wines were superb. Relaxing ambiance. Efficient service, but...never stuffy. Black risotto delicious. Justifiably rated one of the best restaurants in Dubrovnik. Highly recommended.More

We were spoilt for choice when it came to food in Dubrovnik, usually we would look for good food on a bit of a budget but we planned for one expensive meal and decided on FortyFour. We visited during the day to make a reservation,...I am glad we did as when we arrived for dinner the place was full. We were seated in the courtyard which felt like the best table in the house as we had the stars above us, a view of the entrance arch and because they have glass doors we were well sheltered from the wind. The staff were friendly and funny, they took time to chat and were attentive throughout. We had the 44 cold platter to share as a starter, it was accompanied by homemade focaccia and very nice oil and balsamic vinegar. For main I had grilled lobster which came with mixed vegetables, it was very fresh, I picked it from the tank. My partner had tuna which came with potato and spinach, this was some of the freshest tuna I have ever eaten, it was like a huge piece of sashimi! For drinks we had a bottle of white wine, after dinner we were offered a digestif and to finish we had a cocktail. The quality of the food, service and surroundings were superb so they warrant the price tag. I particularly liked how the atmosphere was not pretentious, as some mid-high end restaurants can be.More

We stopped at Forty Four in Dubrovnik mid-afternoon to be sure we could get in. From the first moment, we knew this would be a special experience. We enjoyed the fun vaccine-themed drinks... finally got my double dose of Moderna! This was a delicious drink,...served from a monster syringe. My hubby enjoyed the Pfizer. He’s double-dosed now too. LOL Before our amazing meal arrived, the homemade bread with Istrian evoo and Modena balsamic was brought to the table. This alone was worth the visit. We started with the garden salad and breaded fried artichokes with quattro formaggio. The salad was fresh and delicious, with a light dressing. The artichokes were meaty, perfectly fried, and expertly seasoned. Highly recommend. My husband ordered the tuna. It was unlike any tuna he’s had in the U.S. Delicious! I had the lamb and I couldn’t have been happier. The lamb was perfectly cooked to medium rare, well-seasoned, tender, and not gamey, and the potatoes were exceptionally seasoned to create a sublime experience with every bite. We weren’t sure we had room for dessert, but managed to thoroughly enjoy and completely consume carrot cake and black lava cake. As we’ve come to enjoy in Europe, neither was too sweet. Both were exceptional. The restaurant atmosphere is rustic modern, very pleasant, and our server, Kristian was fun and helpful. Our entire experience was top rate; a wonderful way to end our two weeks in beautiful Croatia. You must eat at Forty Four Dubrovnik. You won’t be disappointed!More

I was at this restaurant with my partner. The restaurant was located in an alleyway and beautifully decorated. The food was great and the service was great too. Definitely would recommend it to anyone who likes to taste authentic croatian cuisine.

There are so many lovely restaurants to choose from in Dubrovnik but this restaurant is just amazing. From the beginning you arrive you are made to feel incredibly special. All of the service staff are attentive, knowledgeable and well trained. To have the personal touch...of the owner regularly coming over was also a lovely personal touch. The food matches the level of service ( absolutely sublime ) and guidance was welcomed about the wine ! A super showpiece of a cocktail was the icing on the cake ! Thank you for a very special night out !!More

1. Let's get this out of way: The food is excellent. Everything we ordered : Risotto with scallops, macaroni with beef and goat cheese, and the lamb chops were all well prepared and delicious. The lava cake for dessert was heavenly. 2. This restaurant came...recommended to us from a local tour guide who actually lives in Dubrovnik (shout out to Ivan on Discover Dubrovnik walking tours who was also amazing). 3. The staff is remarkably friendly and the service was excellent - ask for Christian as your waiter! 4. The serving sizes are large. The appetizers were enormous. Better wear your stretchy pants. 5. It’s owned by Utah Jazz superstar Bojan Bogdanović (shout out to Utah) 6. For the first time today, we went a full hour without hearing about game of thrones. 7. The restaurant is away from the tourist traps on the main street and has a lovely ambiance. 8. I may have over committed with the 44 reasons... just try itMore
