We ate two very tasty dishes (light lunches): black calamari risotto and penne with chicken and truffles.
Portions were huge and beautifully seasoned and the prices were more than fair (about 100 kuna or less than 15 € per dish).
I've spent a week in the old Town of Dubrovnik beginning of August and ate most of the meals at Pupo (lunch and dinners), with an occasional coffee.
I would recommend it to anyone who wants great service, delicious and very fresh food,...good selection of wine and very tasty desserts (I am not even a big sweets person!).
Food: always fresh. I even talked to the staff about how they prepare dishes and everything is made with the highest quality standards and ingredients. Selection is great, a lot of delicious seafood, as well as other options.
Drinks: good selection of Croatian wines, great Aperol Spritz (not watered down!), etc.
Dessert: They make their own desserts and always have a few tasty options to try. Carob cake is amazing!
Service: Everyone working there does a great job to make the guest feel good. They are fast, knowledgeable, willing to help with recommendations, are kind and add to the whole experience.
I would always, 100% go back to this restaurant, and will do so as soon as I go back to Dubrovnik. Keep up the good work!More
What we liked about the place is mainly the quality of food and the cocktails. The waiter was very helpfull but what’s best again about Pupo were the dishes. We ordered a cheese plater (which I read now in other reviews is considered too...little for the price ) which was ok for 60 kunas considering prices in Dubrovnik old town. The (tomato) soup of the day was fine and the so was the puree that came as garnish to the beef steak. The Lobster pasta was outstanding as was the beef which I ordered medium-. One of the waiters told us that the cocktails we had after, were prepared by a barkeeper who attends mixing competitions and we can believe it. Great cocktails! Great food!
The portions of both the main dishes were too big and we could have skipped the starters. While this is not that big of a con we both could not finish them, which we consider a con for sure. I loved the puree but it is because I have very strange taste and it hit it dead on. It was way too much for addition to the big chunk of beef. There were just 2-3 Croatian wines on the carta. The service was good but not amazing but yet again the place is clearly not as pretencious.More
We called at this restuarant looking for vegetarian options. The service was excellcent as they offered to make a vegie risotto and then gave us the name of another restaurant. We went to look at the alternative and it was closed, so we headed back...and had a wonderful meal with great serviceMore
