The Barkarola Tavern is located in one of the most beautiful areas in the city of Split. It has a spacious terrace with a beautiful view over the sea and Split marina, whilst in the immediate vicinity are the popular beaches of Bačvice and Trstenik. The complex extends over 250 m2, and carparking for all guests is ensured. Our offer includes a wide selection of dishes that will definitely satisfy everyone’s taste and we would like to point out our fish selection, which has made us famous widely. Daily fresh fish, prepared according to Dalmatian recipes, will certainly be a lure to attract you and make you return to the Barkarola. Nice view, average food but could be better and happier service!

Location is great and we were able to park with little trouble but could imagine that there might be problems in the high season. There are different restaurants at different levels in the building and all seemed OK. We had a late lunch and the staff were obviously tired so service was not that great but after so many good reviews we expected better. One of us had a. Pork steak in Mushroom sauce which was good. Pizza Margarita was not good and the dough was a bit soggy so not Neapolitan style - thin and crispy. Topping not great. My wife and I had muscles in Buzzaru sauce. To me a small portion and lots of sauce which was disappointing. House white wine was good. Overall, I would not come back here but would just about rate average.

Dinner with a view

Saw good reviews about this restaurant and decided to have dinner here. The restaurant has a nice view on the marina and the food was good. The chicken stuffed with cheese and ham (basically a cordon bleu) was homemade and tasty. Dessert was not as good as the main courses we ordered, but still quite OK.

Wow and wow

I've never seen such a hospitality by waitress. And the food.. Like wow, I could eat it every day and not get enought of that taste. For the price od 200HRK(less than 30€) it is totally worth it. The portion looked small at the first but we definitely didn't left hungry. Btw desert was gratis. We'll definitely come back again and again.

Don't go there, food is really not good!

I don't know how this restaurant got so many good reviews maybe just because of the view which was OK, but not great. The food was really not good - I ordered pasta with salmon and shrimps. The sauce was disgusting and the seafood was of course not fresh. I didn't eat even half of my meal. My partner order mix of meat - the waiter didn't even ask how do you want your steak to be cooked. The meat was not good at all. While leaving we have noticed that they keep all the row meat and chicken together which is against the general food hygiene. I strongly do not recommend to go to this restaurant.

Wonderfull experiance

The food is wonderfully done. High quality. Expecialy sea food and the meat. The view is good even in the night tho its better during the day. Staff is so much kind and helpfull. They really made my dinner special and will remember them. The only "warning" I can give is that the prices are a bit higher then average but it makes up for it with quality in every department. In the end all I can say is that I will definetly go back to this place 10/10 easily one of the best restaurants in Split Croatia

Must have experience, don’t regret not coming

One of the best restaurants I have visited in my life! Location and view let’s say above average but quality of food and professionalism of staff is really on highest level. Went to late dinner with my wife and from first second felt really special thanks to charming, friendly and professional waiter (Ante ❤️), ordered appetizer Tuna carpaccio and for the main course tuna steak with traditional chard and medium done beefsteak with side dish potatoes with onion and bottle of sauvignon. Food was absolutely stunning, portions big, prices affordable regarding the experience. Absolutely must visit if you ever visit Split. Special regards once again to waiter Ante who made our visit really enjoyable and something to remember. All in all 9.5/10 just because they don’t have Michelin star ;)

Lovely experience

The location is fantastic and the waitres are very plesent and wlcome. We nearly try all dishies and I will recomend: Lobster taglateli, shrimp soup, clamps in souse,taglateli with tartufi,shrimps and beefstek, Fish is always fresh and they are preparing home made gniochi, fish pate is also very teasty. We are wine lover so they have wonderfull home made white wine. I hope we will be guest next year again to enjoy the food and ambient. Best regards, VESNA

Stunning views

We were welcomed and shown to our table on the beautiful balcony at the restaurant. The food was reasonably priced and excellent, the mussels that I had were large and meaty. My wife had a large bowl of pasta with shrimp. It was a fairly busy evening with a lovely atmosphere.

This is the worst restaurant that we have been in Split. the food is bad, the service as well. i ordered a better roast steak and got bloody. the better roasted tuna came raw. all very bad. Waiter service done unprofessionally. left everything, paid and left. Not recommended to anyone

A Lovely Restaurant

This was a restuarnt close to our hotel and was the first we visited. Breakfast was not great so it put us off going there for dinner. We visited a number of other well rated restaurants, came back to Barkarola just to wish we had eaten there more. The dinner menu was comprehensive and everything we tried was well cooked and the portions generous. The service was excellent and the staff very accommodating. We will certainly be going back to Split and this restaurant in the future.

Great view and location , solid food

Went here for a dinner with colleagues, it is a nice restaurant, basically on the sea side above the marina with a great view of the nearby islands. For appetizers we had a selection of sea foods (pate, octopus salad, anchovies etc. ), all good. For main dish we had a couple of sea bass fishes from the grill, well made and of good quality in general. With that we had some nice white local Pošip Čara. The service was not that great, it was okay but sometiems late with water and general responsiveness. The prices are quite competitive. To conclude a very good restaurant, but not a great one due to some details in service and food quality.

Fabulous service and the grilled scampi was amazingly delicious. The gorgonzola sauce that came with a meat dish was so tasty. 😍 Sitting above the marina with a fabulous view in a mix with locals and tourists made this dinner so nice. Authentic and true is the right words for this. Thank you. 🙏

We recently had lunch at this restaurant and decided to try four different dishes. Unfortunately, none of the dishes managed to impress us. The standout disappointment was the "Ramstek Bakarola," which hardly differs from the regular except for the three slices of cheese it comes with. Overall, the meal was underwhelming and did not meet our expectations

Excellent local cuisine at reasonable prices.

Excellent local cuisine at reasonable prices. I eat there three times on a city break as I was staying close by. I had the fish platter, the house stuffed chicken breast (with leeks, cheese & shrimps) and the stuffed veal. The house wine is also great, and excellent value - the white is like a crisp pinot grigio and the red is a delicious merlot. Service is great, and very friendly.

Smells of smoke and food was basic

The first thing we noticed was the stale smell of smoke, and lots of people were smoking on the terrace which is almost indoors. So not a good start. The food was really basic and bland, no seasoning. Would not recommend or go back.
