Easy going but with dignity we approached each and every customer getting a cheerful feedback and mouth-to-mouth recommendation in return. Lovely spot for lunch

Came here for some lunch, both of us ordered chicken sandwiches which come with fries. Big portion for the price and tasty. The service was quick and the staff very friendly. The waiter brought us some free watermelon for forgetting to bring us some water which was very kind. Would happily come back here!!

Nice little Cafe

We only had one meal in Split, and decided to have lunch there since it was conveniently located near all the main attractions. The servers were nice and polite, and food came out quickly. My wife really enjoyed her black squid ink risotto, and I enjoyed their half chicken with fries. Nothing spectacular, but nothing bad.

Two visits and both great!

Not sure why this place has bad reviews, maybe we were just lucky. Have eaten here twice during our trip and have enjoyed both visits. Waitress was attentive and food was good, especially the Octopus salad and Mussels. Great location for people watching too!

Tourist trap, avoid!!!

The fact that anyone at the ‘no stress’ bistro can claim to work in hospitality is the one good laugh me and my partner had all night. Our evening started with the owner- a Hesten Blumenthal wannabe- telling us there were no free seats despite 8 tables sitting empty should have been our first warning. Unfortunately, we persevered. My partner ordered an Aperol spritz which was half a shot of aperol mixed with lukewarm flat soda water. The service was incredibly slow. When we ordered our server did karaoke for 20 mins without bringing the wine or food that we could see sat on the kitchen server. The bill came before the main plates were cleared (still mostly full to be fair, with my partner managing to eat all the bread and almost none of the ordered food). The starters were not as described. We were served ‘seafood platter’ which turned out to be seafood tatar ( a term loosely used as nothing was cooked in citric and seasoning was a forgiven concept). The main, their ‘special’ was apparently cod bakaler but turned out to be a lukewarm mashed up fish cake, covered in an inexplicable amount of oil. ( sadly no pan was provided to correct the issue). To top this they overcharged us on the bill and got affrontive when we challenged this. I think basically they get away with this because split is absolutely rammed and they’ll always have custom. But if you value your health and your sanity, avoid Like I said, at least me and my partner have a funny story to tell about possibly the worst restaurant that ever existed in all time.

Overpriced and overcooked. Avoid!!!!

First night in split and we were hoping to sample the famous Croatian seafood. Stopped here and it looked great. Once at the table the waiter was unfriendly and seemed annoyed when I asked about one of the dishes. We ended up sharing a pot of mussels that came in at around £20 each!!! Added to this the portion was small and they were overcooked and oily with not much flavour. £35 approx for a bottle of average tasting wine made the whole experience bad.

Incredible stress

My first ever review is a must after what we experienced in this horrible place , we order 3 dishes , 2 were wrong but we just accepted them anyway , all 3 were cold , so we asked for them to be changed with a further request for the correct order ,the waiter was angry and aggressive and refused to change food . There is a small alley where waiting staff constantly smoke next to the table we were sat but it seems they were not just cigarettes , we thought they may of been drunk at first but it was 4 pm .. If it wasn’t bad enough another customer complained and just wanted the bill , the same aggressive waiter was swearing out loud at the customer for all to hear with young children sat nearby . Service is really terrible , food awful, and we left feeling totally stressed . The waiting staff should get some serious training in anger management and customer service ..

Mauvaise expérience

We came on an evening of August 5th. After a long wait in front of the restaurant, no one to welcome us. When I ask a waiter how long around we will have a place available, he says "No it's full" without even looking at me. (the tall one with the shaved head). Finally, just after a table becomes available and my girlfriend goes to ask another server for this table, who tells us that we can take this table. After it took half an hour to get the menu with the menus. And to order, it was a disaster, no one to come and see us, we intercept the big waiter with the bald head still, to ask him if we can trade, he answers us that he is busy. After 3 other servers refused to take the order from us, we were finally able to order with a 4th server. Frankly one of the worst restaurant of my life. This year I have visited Dubai, Greece, and Tanzania, and I have never seen such a disagreeable reception. I work as a journalist for French television, our report on Dubai went well with French viewers and I intend to do something about this Croatian restaurant.

No stress but stressful

The place has a good vibe from the outside only. However it is a mid range tourist restaurant. Food cold and bland. Service average with a side of attitude. I had the shrimp risotto. There was little flavour and tiny shrimps - a big portion, but doused in oil. My friends dish wasn’t hot and when they asked for it to be heated up (kindly) the waiter forced them to feel the bottom of the plate which he claimed was hot. They felt extremely confronted and uncomfortable. There are so many nice places in Split which we’ve discovered - I recommend you spend your well earned holiday at one of those.

Delicious! Fresh, local cuisine

We ate here after a long day of travel. It is located in the square with a view of the palace. The seating is outside under a tent. 'Robbie", our waiter and Split native, gave us suggestions when we asked. He recommended a delicious local white wine. We ended up with a fresh grilled whole sea bass with a salad and sautéed kale split between the 2 of us. My husband started with a trio of fish tartar for an appetizer. Everything was delicious, the staff was friendly and gave us great service. Even though the line was growing, we felt no rush to hurry.

Surprisingly good

The restaurants name is a bit of a put off, highlighting something that doesn't reflect the cuisine it serves.Fortunately the food is very good. Black ink risotto with tender squid was excellent, as was the surprisingly large portion of their fish stew and it was very flavourful. Great friendly service, quaint covered patio seating and nice ambiance. There was live music from a guitarist, so very enjoyable.

What a joke

The bane of this restaurant is a joke. From the moment seven of us were seated, the waiter put us under pressure. He was rude to the extreme from the start, basically telling us he was too busy to serve us. In the end when we wanted to pay with four cards, three couples and a single lady, he went over the top and was extremely rude. So much so that I went to find the manager to complain. The food was only average and there are plenty of better restaurants in Split, so don't waste your time or money here.

Light lunch after walk in Marjan forrest park

Had tomato gazpacho and a salad. Gazpacho and the salad were good. Partner had prosciutto and bruschetta. He was not wowed. Masks seem optional on the service staff like most of what we have seen so far. Mostly worn on the chin or below nose if worn at all. Fortunately lots of outdoor dining and few tourists this time of year.

Great setting

It is not clear to me why this place is getting bad reviews. We had a really nice meal at a leiserly pace with some nice wine. Our waiter was friendly and helpful, but not overbaring or intrusive. We really enjoyed the two very different dishes we shared. The local cuisine dishes we ordered were very very good. Given the outstandling location and high quality of the entres, it seemed like a very good value to us.

Great traditional dalmantian restaurant

We were there the first time for breakfast, it’s was really tasty and plentiful. Came back for dinner few days later, not surprised by the quality of their food served ! Especially fish. If you’re looking for a real traditional Dalmatian restaurant, do not hesitate !

Klasicna “zamka za turiste”/classic tourist trap

Vise volim pisati hvalospjeve, ali eto. Ovo je klasicna “zamka za turiste”. Dobra lokacija, menu lose slozen, hrana bas jako losa - nemam volje nabrajati sto sve nije bilo dobro. Jedva jestivo ili nejestivo. Classic tourist trap. Good location, bad concept of the menu, really really bad food. I do not have enough will power to write down all the things that were wrong with our 4 meals, but man...barely eatable or not eatable at all.
