very cosy restaurant in the heart of the historical part of Split. Tables are in the front of the restaurant, inside and in the back yard (very quite). The food is excellent, including some Dalmatian specialities. The staff is very friendly.
Stumbled across this cute small restaurant in one of the side alleys of the old town. Service friendly and efficient. Had the green pasta seafood dish.... YUM!!!!! The Greek salad was also very good! I thought it was very reasonably priced which is a real...bonus .More
Waitress past by us three times without even acknowledging us. We had to approach them to see if we can sit. After we ordered two meals and two drinks, two other groups were seated near us. After about 15 minutes, the other tables began getting...their drinks and food. Tried flagging waitress to ask about our ordered drinks but took us having to approach a different waitress. She came over and we shared we had ordered and other tables had already began receiving drinks and then their food. Waitress went to find out. About 30 minutes later we found out that original waitress had lost our order and didn’t tell us and kept avoiding us. New waitress took our order. New waitress was apologetic. Orders and drinks arrived about 45 minutes to an hour later. We ordered a “pizza”. We got dough with cheese on top. We asked for no mushrooms, got tons chopped into the cheese. It wasn’t even cut into slices. Had to approach waitress to get it sliced. Came back chopped in half on two separate plates. Asked for it to be sliced like pizza. Took another 10 mi utes as the waitress stood in kitchen door complaining about us.
The only positive thing I can say is the waitress Anna was at least apologetic for the experience when bill came. Don’t go there. Food mediocre, waitress attitude horrible.More
This quaint little restaurant is a real gem, hidden in the heart of Diocletian's Palace. We appreciated that it is a bit tucked away from the crowds, so that we can enjoy food in a peaceful environment, bit still feel the history and vibe of...the city. The food was simply amazing, pasta with sea food and truffels was the best dish I had in Split. Our waitress Ana was so lovely and attended us professionally and attentively. Overall experience was excellent and the prices were reasonable. I highly recommend Tovar restaurant to all travelers that pass through the old town of Split!More
We had a late dinner at Tovar Konoba which was in a nice courtyard. We shared one dinner of stuffed peppers and wine near because we weren’t very hungry. The waiter was very nice and had the one entree split between two plates for us....It was delicious!More
We sat at the terrace which was really nice. The walls were all part of the original stones and the ambience was comfortable, authentic and warm. The service was fast and efficient even though the terrace was up a flight of stairs from the kitchen...and main dining area.
It was four of us and we ordered quite a bit of food. Out of which I highly recommend the grilled seabream. The fish stew taste is much milder though I can't say it wasn't nice. The pasta was substantial but not particularly stand out. The house wine was very reasonably priced. So overall, is a great place for dinner with friends for its friendly service and unpretentious food.More
Quite simply, the food was delicious, the service was wonderful (our waiter was friendly, funny and very hospitable) and the surroundings were quaint and very pleasant. My girlfriend and I felt very relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Couldn't recommend more highly.
