Finally something different

In a town overrun with pasta, pizza, grills and sandwiches this place is a nice refreshment. Completely reasonable prices for what you get, cute outdoor surroundings and really nice people .... had dinner with a small kid who's picky and everything was approved with a clean plate. Had chicken mole which is amazing combo of flavors and beef birria which i'm coming back for!! Good stuff..

Very tasty food and friendly staff

Really easy to book a table, quick responses, we were met by a really friendly member of staff, and our order was taken quickly, the mixed starter was very tasty especially with the pineapple salsa. Both of our mains were really tasty. Happy with our choices ;) great place to eat out in Split!

Delicious Mexican food and nice staff

Went for lunch at To Je Tako with my girlfriend. We got nachos with guacamole for starters. The guacamole was very nice and fresh! Then we got a chicken and a vegetable burrito (the vegetable one can be veganized and the waiter was very helpful with suggestions for it!). Everything was amazing (and plenty!). The one in the picture is the wet chicken burrito. Really friendly and accommodating staff 👍 Can really recommend this place!

Not bursting with flavour

After reading many great reviews we decided to dine here one night in Split. The first red flag was the huge menu to signal that this restaurant was not authentic Mexican at all. The staff were lovely, however we were disappointed with the bland food and were definitely expecting more flavour. A cheap eat, but there are better food spots in Split.

Would you wait in line for Sierra tequila, warm beer and average food?

Let me start by saying this: how can a high rated Mexican resturant only have Sierra tequila? If you go to Mexico and order Sierra, they would probably ban you from the country! This is what high-school kids buy because it is the cheapest one they can find, and it is absolutely crap. And that is what they make all their drinks with. Then to the food. The food is good, but nothing special... Me and my girlfriend tasted both meat, chicken, and vegetarian tacos. They are served extremely simple, with no side dips or anything. All in all its not worth the wait, it is ok food, and their drinks sucks. AND I got warm Corona beer.. A warm beer..

Well worth the wait!

We waited about 40 minutes for our table as we arrived at gone 8pm without a booking, but the host was great at communicating waiting times and managing expectations. The menu was clearly marked with gluten free options and the waitress was knowledgeable on these. The food was so tasty with great options and reasonably priced for the quality and portion sizes. The staff were excellent and the ambience made for a brilliant evening. Thanks!

Got what we ordered with out!

This restaurant’s outdoor seating is located by the street, and is separate from the kitchen that can be found in another building. I ordered the veggie burrito without cheese, but I got a burrito with cheese. We also ordered a quesadilla without the beans and rice that it comes with, but we still got it. Overall, the food was okay. They do offer multiple vegetarian options that are labeled in the menu.

Best Mexican/Tex-Mex I’ve

Best Mexican/Tex-Mex I’ve had in Europe! We ended up coming here twice in two days because everything was delicious! Our three kids loved it and finished all their food (portions are generous). Both the waitresses — one from Mexico and one from Italy, were the most kind, helpful people. The owner was cool too. Friendly atmosphere, fresh, tasty food done right, coloring pages for kids, constant refills on water, I cannot recommend this place any higher! Not cheap, but reasonable for downtown. On the first day it was the only full meal we had (at lunch) because nobody was hungry for dinner.

Fantastic Mexican food and great service

We were lucky to get a table as this place is very popular, which isn't surprising. Go early is my best advice. The food is delicious. My husband had chicken fajitas and I had a Veggie wet burrito. The portion sizes are pretty large, the fajitas come with so many extras he struggled to finish. The jalapeño margeuritas are beautifully made and very moreish. The best thing about this whole experience though were the young ladies serving. They were gracious, kind, efficient and they work really really hard, charging up and down a set of stairs to get the food out. All in all a great little restaurant.

Overrated, slow service

Hugely overrated, cramped and loud, very long wait for food to come (following a very long queue). Be warned that there will likely be a queue- we were happy to join the queue (which took around 1 hour for us) because we had heard good things about this restaurant from a friend and reviews. However, when we eventually did get inside, despite friendly staff and tasty cocktails, the food itself took an absolute AGE to arrive (30+ mins for starters and 1 hour for mains) and was really average. All in all this meant it took two hours from starting to queue, to eating our mains. We wouldn’t have minded the queue if the service was fast when you were seated. If you turn up and there is a queue I’d avoid and spend your evening elsewhere. We had much nicer and similarly priced food elsewhere in Split.

The most delicious nachos in Europe!

The most delicious nachos in Europe. Ordered the spicy Tex mex nachos and they reminded me of nachos back in California (but even better actually). Perfectly seasoned and the staff are so so friendly. The waiter with the glasses was so kind when our child broke a plate by accident. They made us feel at home and we can’t wait to go back there for more!

Throwback to South America's Epic food

The food was beyond great. After weeks of eating the same food in Croatia it was astonishing to find this little gem. I'd missed eating the South American food for years longer than usual due to Covid and every single dish was EPIC! Even when ordering the veggi version of things it was very good even as a non vegetarian (I shared multiple appetizers with the veggi gf).

Best meal in Split

Tucked away in the back streets off the Diocletian palace is this hidden gem. On arrival I was warmly greeted by two members of staff who seated me then ran me through the menu items shortly after providing me with a refreshing cucumber and lime infused water. The menu is so diverse and covers multiple Latin American influences. It’s hard to pick solely because you are spoilt for choice. The quantity and quality were above expectations and the flavours just explode onto your tatstebuds! The setting is perfect and a welcome break from the busy streets. I will definately be referring to friends and paying another visit myself on return !

Great Mexican food in the palace

Fun authentic Mexican restaurant in Diocletian's Palace. There's had a bunch of different margaritas and tacos on the menu. When we got our food, our waitress also brought over 3 different hot sauces for us to try. Staff was super friendly - would definitely go back!

Delicious food, amazing cocktails, superb staff

We were extremely impressed by this place. From the off, Dora welcomed us all and made us smile and laugh and suggested what we should eat and drink. We sat down and were promptly served our cocktails, which were excellent with the right amount of flavour and alcohol ;) Then when the food came we pretty much inhaled it because it was that good. The flavour and spice levels were perfect, and when offered a dessert one of my friends ordered another main. Naturally we couldn't say no to another cocktail either, and we tried a new one, which was equally as good! Thanks team To Je Tako!
