Traditional plates, very good price and tasty ! THE place to stop 👌 We ate twice, fish and goulash and both super tasty. A all sea bass + potatoes for 15€, nice local beer, go for it !

Well, shall I tell you what fish soup I got at Fife restaurant in Split? The restaurant Fife was strongly recommended by the hostel where I stayed. I went there and ordered fish soup. Their fish soup was like this (no exaggeration). Take a bouillon...cube and put in a liter of hot water. Then put half-cooked rice in it (not al dante, but half-boiled) and that’s it. That was the fish soup I was served. I took a spoon and sent it back. There was absolutely no taste whatsoever in this cloudy water. Any fish piece or even taste if fish was never there. Then I ordered chicken fillet with mushrooms sauce. It was a big thick lump of mushroom sauce put on the chicken. Again no taste. The only eatable I got were very nice French fries. This rubbish dinner cost almost 20 € These people should not cook food because they can not 😂😡More

The host at our bnb recommended this place. We went there and the place was semi vacant with three waiters just idling around. We were asked to sit at any table and wait for a waiter but no one paid any attention to us for...the next ten minutes; but just sat outside talking. Finally, a waiter did arrive and give us a menu and then promptly went back to the discussion with the other idling waiters. Nobody ever returned again to take an order. When a waiter did pass us by he said another one will attend to us. No one did. they however immediately served other people who would come which made us feel quite unwelcome. Not sure if us being brown had anything to do with it as we seemed to be the only people of color in the restaurantMore

We went to the restaurant at the recommendation of our hostel. We were told it was cheap. Yes it was really really cheap for Split standard! We ordered ćevapčići, pašticada with gnocchi and grilled peppers. The ćevapčići was basically the Balkan version of beef kofta....It was good. The pašticada with gnocchi was okay. The grilled peppers were fantastic. Overall I would say the taste was above average, not great. But it was really value for the money.More

Our hotel recommended this place, but after we visited it doesn’t understand why. My mom ordered fish soup - it was broth with uncooked/raw rice. I ordered grilled sea bass with some veggies and potato. Sea bass and veggies were fine, potato’s tasted ok but...they were cold. Worst part was service, our waiter were very unpleasant, it seemed that he didn’t want to serve us. While we were waiting our food, some nice young lady passed this place and all men staff were looking after her and make some comments, really unprofessional and wasn’t nice to see such thing.More

We ordered a pan fried squid, butter rice and grilled gilthead, (bream), with french fried. The 'pan' fried squid was served on a plate, not on a pan (not the same as in the pictures). The fried squid was soggy and tasted more like oil...than squid. Sometimes you can also taste a little bit smelly fish through the oil. They were fried too short in low heat oil. The French fries tasted exactly like the fried squid: more like oil than fries. The Butter rice 🍚 and the gilthead were good. The dessert wine Vermouth was out of stock. Would not recommend it or come here again.More

Very authentic local cuisine dishes. Full of flavour and not over salted. Some views to the Port and sea. Lovely spot for a leisurely lunch. Service was good and kitchen is very busy so sit back and enjoy the atmosphere.

This place is very nice, food is just perfect. Fast service, all the meals are really good. Only one bad point are toilets - its a big dirty and uncomfortable. We had plesqavica, fried squids, their typical plate with beef.

Great restaurant with look on the harbour. Full of Street cats but beside that excellent food and services. Great mixed grill. Unfortunately when you order some bread, you only get with nothing, so as in every place you have oil and vinegar on tables.....

Went twice because it was just so good. Had the fried squid and the goulash. The squid was amazing (best I’ve ever had) and quite cheap compared to other restaurants. Good service and nice views. If you get two portions of fried squid you get...an ultra big platter which is fun. Overall very recommended if you are looking for places to eat in Split.More

We tried two cooked meals , pasticada and beef with mushrooms sauce. They were really delicious and big portions . Sometimes staff's behaviour was kinda rude.

They give large portions of good with barely any seasoning. It’s good if you want a lot of food for less money, but don’t care about flavour.

Fife was highly recommended by our AirBnB host. We thought we’d take him up on his recommendation. The location is on the street facing the harbor. There’s always lots going on along the road in front of the harbor. They have a very nice patio...that takes advantage of the refreshing ocean breeze. The service was typical Croatian. They attend to you but aren’t overly attentive if you are in a hurry. This place is busy with a line of people always waiting for a table. I think that’s because it’s popular and a great location. The food was good but not great. Thus the 4 star rating. We started with Proscuito and Cheese. This was very good. They had huge slices of proscuito and aged cheese. That was a very good start. Then my wife ordered the meat. It was a little over cooked and not very tender. My meal was fine, but left so little of an impression that I can’t even remember what I ordered. My main impression was that this is a great location and average food. I am sure others will have had much better experiences here because it was highly recommended. Bottom line for me…good, not great.More
