This is a French restaurant. The meals are consistently exquisite. We have had lamb, beef, shrimp, and even vegetarian meals. They are always delightful. The selection of wines is also very impressive. It is a very quiet atmosphere as the restaurant is not in the...center of Antigua and there is always ample parking. The owner, Pascal, is always present and very helpful. Suggestion call 502 7937 4065 to make your reservation a bit in advance.More

el Rincon del Conquistador is a real gem of a restaurant here in Antigua, a town filled with way too many mediocre restaurant. We visited this Friday evening and were amazed at how good the food was. We started with the Camembert appetizer. What a...wonderful combination with the plum chutney! My wife had salmon and I had a steak. Both were prepared just right, not overcooked and the spices that were used were amazing. Tonight they had a special with mushrooms (chanterelle?) that was a delight to my taste buds. For the steak they were prepared in a reduction that gave it an incredible flavor. This isn't your USA steak house style....it was delicate, full of well balanced flavors and paired perfectly with the steak. For my wife's Salmon, they were prepared in a different style, again, a perfect pairing for the fish. It is obvious that the chef takes the time to choose components to the meal to complement each other and then prepares them exquisitely. We asked the maitre'd for a recommendation for a bottle of wine (they have a nice selection of French wines at reasonable restaurant prices (Q 200-250 range) and were very pleased with the Bordeaux he recommended. It paired nicely with our meal (Normally we'd only drink a glass or two but we finished the bottle!) Desert was a nougat glace that was slightly sweet, slightly tart and an amazing way to clean our palate at the end of the meal. My wife and I were fighting over who would lick the plate clean! If you live in (or visit) Antigua, you will know there are hundreds of terrible or mediocre restaurants and only a few gems like this. (How the terrible ones get such high ratings is beyond me) Take the time to take a 5 minute ride outside of Central Antigua to visit this place. The neighborhood is SAFE (I live only a block away) and the food worth the journey.More

Invited 20 people to celebrate my wife's birthday at the last minut. Everything was perfect from a private menu with a pre established menu saying Happy Birthday to not wanting to go home since everyone enjoyed their meal and had a great time. They will...lprepare anything you want. The cost, I felt, was reasonable for a top quality meal.More

In a town like Antigua, it's not easy to find a quiet dining experience. This restaurant is just outside of Antigua, very easy to get to by Tuk-tuk , taxi or Uber and it's located in a private home. The place is magical. My husband...and I and another couple went there for dinner and everything was exquisite. We each had starters: baked camembert, french onion soup, salmon carpaccio and escargot with wine, cream and garlic. We ordered a Cotes du Rhone Pinot Grigio and then with our entrees we had a Columbia Crest Syrah. The entrees we ordered were duck breast, a beautiful salmon filet, two filets of beef, both medium rare, one with with red wine reduction and the other with a mushroom sauce. We ended taking half of the beef home because we were so full. Our server, Pascal, was charming and attentive. General consensus was that we had a delicious time. We look forward to returning!More

A refined cuisine made with quality fresh produce. The guatemalan chef worked several years in Michelin-starred restaurants in France.

This is the type of finding that really makes a trip worth. Decided to visit this restaurant with a group of friends for lunch una sunday, its location may be discouraging at the beginning, but when you sit and relax and hear nothing, not the...usual bussiness of Antigua downtown then you appreciate that is located outside Antigua. The food was superb, the appetizer (a wonderful camembert cheese with fig compote) then the main course (stuffed shrimps with herbs), and dessert (Meringue ice cream !!!). The friendly host and Chef really made a difference in our experiencie. Then after lunch we sat on the front garden just enjoying the most wonderful afternoon in Antigua.More

The Antigua Gourmet Club selects a different restaurant in Antigua, Guatemala every month. Last week we selected El Rincon del Conquistador. The food was excellent and presented very nicely. The service was fine - we did order in advance as we are a fairly large...group. The atmosphere was very friendly. All the participants were very pleased with the experience.More

Slightly removed from the bustle of Central Antigua, the Restaurant el Rincon del Conquistador counts as a real find for gourmet food lovers. It is exquisitely prepared French food at a surprisingly reasonable price. My wife and I were recently taken there by my daugher...and her husband for Father's Day and it definitely exceeded all our expectations. The softly lit pristine interior had an understated charm and class. The effect is very comfortable and home-like with personal service and attention from owner Pascual and chef Noe. The service began with fresh, hot toasted rolls and butter with a good bottle of Cabernet. For appetizers we ordered escargot and roasted camembert cheese. The escargot were served in a creamy sauce full of herbs and garlic which we enjoyed to 'the last drop'. The browned camembert with plum sauce was also unforgettable. For dinner, my wife ordered the duck and I got the pepper crusted grouper - both cooked and seasoned to perfection. My son-in-law had the steak with mushrooms while my daughter enjoyed a superb rack-of-lamb. We all bragged about our dishes and wound up sharing bites that were amazingly delicious. My fish may have been the best I've ever had - moist and served on a bed of perfectly seasoned fresh vegetables with mashed potatoes. Although I was delighted with my dish, I had to admit my daughter's lamb and her husband's steak were also about the best ever. Noe is a chef who trained in Paris - and it shows. Every preparation could easily have come from one of the best places in France. The desserts were also exceptional, although we were too full for one apiece. It was hard to choose which two from the selections, but we wound up sharing scrumptious key lime and a unique fruit-nut-nougat combo. The whole experience created one of those rare, 'can't wait to come back', moments, even while still enjoying our dinners. Hats off to these two friendly people and their outstanding restaurant. We'll be back many times and recommend it heartily.More
