I live in Antigua and had been through for coffee (which is also very good when served black) several times but went for dinner for the first time on Monday because my mom was visiting. The tamarind chicken wings and the yellow curry with a mixture of shrimp and various meets were unbelievable. We thought we knew good Thai food... More

Okay all you backpackers....do yourself a favor and find another place to eat in Antigua. Cafe Flor is the typical restaurant that seems to draw backpackers in droves. I tried it twice and do not see the draw. The food is about as Thai as I am. At least I've visited Thailand a few times.

I know everyone likes this place, but I just don't. The food is ok. I have always gone there when I in a pinch, i.e. hungry and need something pronto. It is fine for this, but if you only have a weekend or a week in Antigua don't go here, there are so many other places to go to.

Yolkobsens have a compass for variety when it comes to food and are always on the lookout for restaurants that provide an alternative to the wonderful, but often very similar platos, on offer in Antigua Guatemala eateries.  Cafe Flor's Thai cuisine was a happy diversion.   Our noshing clocks must have been on Asian time because we stumbled into Cafe... I live in Antigua part-time so I have tried at least a hundred restaurants. This is restaurant number three for me (top 3 percentile). The combination of great ambiance, great live music, great service, great food, and comfortable prices makes it a great option for travelers and locals alike. I like coming to this restaurant on special occasions, especially when... More

I found the atmosphere charming, the service above par, and the owner (who was there at the time) extremely charming. As for the food - yes, I have had pad thai that was very different from what I had here. However, the Pad Thai I had a Cafe Flor was unquestionably tasty - I choose to think of it as... More

What we ate was fine, but only one dish was vegetarian -- the fried rice. The curries have a chicken base, and the Pad Thai has fish sauce -- they could not be prepared as vegetarian dishes. We ate fried rice, which was good, bu the limited choice was very disappointing.

Let's be honest here, the atmosphere is strange. Absolutely mediocre Thai food served in a piano bar!? It just didn't add up. Next time I get that green curry itch, I'm getting takeout. Or making some Pad Thai at home for a fraction of the price. All of the 5 star reviews out there have clearly never been to a... More

We dined at Cafe Flor three times during our visit to Antigua and liked the food each time. Since we're vegetarians, we requested that the food be made without fish sauce and the end result was delicious. We had the vegetarian stir fried rice (my fav) and the thai red curry each time. The veg spring rolls weren't too great,... More
