This is a wonderful restaurant in downtown Ada, MI. The wait staff is efficient and friendly and the bartender remembers your name and what you drink. They have rooftop dining when weather permits overlooking the charming village of Ada. To top it off, and most importantly the food is wonderful. A charming restaurant!

We went on a Friday night, were seated right away and had an excellent meal! The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. The server was very friendly - and the staff worked as a team and looked like they were having fun! The meal was reasonably priced. We have never had a bad meal there. Would highly recommend!

Stopped here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. We both had different salads and both were excellent. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant very clean. It was cafeteria style for lunch where you ordered at the counter and sat yourself. The only potential negative was the steps.

Stairs! The food was awesome. We were with another couple and everyone enjoyed their meals. I must say the carrot cake was the best we’ve ever had. The reason for only 3 stars was the fact of the two fights of stairs that are needed to gain entry to the restaurant. There is a small elevator at the back entrance that is not advertised. Also if you are going, look really hard for the signage on the windows. Both of our parties went around the block twice before finding the restaurant. We will go back, I just think it’s important to advertise there are several stairs before going.

Excellent as always. Hubby had the Lamb shanks and I had a build your own salad with salmon. Everything was to perfection. New chef and great new entrees. Drinks are unique.

My husband and I happened to be on the east side of town earlier this week and he heard me talk about going to the Schnitz with co-workers before I retired. So we decided to do it and were not disappointed. The sandwiches were large, on fresh buns and with fresh ingredients. I had the Philly sandwich that had lots of cheese and my husband had an Italian sandwich which he loved.

My wife and I really enjoy this place. It's excellent for both lunch and dinner, and the service is always fantastic, as well as the food, too.

Favorite place to eat near us (IMO, best restaurant in Ada). Great food, nice atmosphere and really good drink. Decently priced. Occasionally they can get pretty busy and there is a wait but that isn’t super common.

OK, granted there are not a lot of restaurants in Ada, but this place always does a good job. We don't go often (it is 12 miles from out house and there are many restaurants we like equally or better in between), as it is not my grandkids favorite for dinner (they prefer Schnitz as a deli for lunch), but everytime we do, it is good. The service may be better that the food, but both are excellent. The ambiance is also quite nice and the prices are commensurate with the quality. Sandwiches, nice entrees, and a good bar. It is probably, if I were to do a relative rating, better as a deli, but I like the dinner side better. As the meatloaf, is very good, if a little unusual.

Food was tasty and visually appealing, service was great. Unfortunately vising on a Friday evening was much too noisy for my comfort. A popular, crowded place. Would return to try on a different day

Moved to Grand Rapids 11 months ago and have eaten around. Several people said they really liked the "Schnitz". I was honestly surprised by how very good it was, and at lunch it's pretty reasonable too. I started with a chicken chili, just enough pepper to notice but lots of chunks of chicken and flavors that were great. Then I had a red potato salad. Don't know what their dressing was but it was the best I've ever had (and I'm 73). Then the #2 Schnitzel Reuben. Large is an understatement. Great bread it was on. Wonderful slices of corned beef. Just enough of everything else to make it irresistible. I had spotted slabs of carrot cake when we first placed our orders at the counter. Had to try some carrot cake too. Wow! It was delicious!

I visited the Schnitz today with my office team. We’ve visited many times before as the deli sandwiches are very tasty. The menu board is pretty extensive. I would guess that most everyone could find a soup, sandwich and/or salad to their liking. I’d recommend ordering a 1/2 sandwich unless you plan to take some home with you. Even with a 1/2 sandwich, you still get a full sandwich, they just reduce the meat by half (which is still quite a lot). I frequently get the #23 “Mary’s Dilemma”. I don’t know what Mary’s issue is... it’s a simple turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomato and mayo. But very good!!! The broccoli salad is great too. Great interior character. The kitchen and order line is in one of the original historic buildings in the Village. Definitely recommend for lunch and dinner. Great food and service.

I have visited Schnitz five or six times in the last four months. Wonderful atmosphere, with indoor or outdoor seating on second level. Nice menu choices and bar. Reasonable prices. Great place to visit with family, friends, etc!

This upstairs cafe has a good menu, but the best thing there is the Fish & Chips. The fish is fresh and fried in a potato chip batter. It is the best I ever had. The portions are large and the pace is easy. It is worth the short drive from Grand Rapids to Ada.
