Or rather, dine in was available in October. I assume this will change with the pandemic surges. We had heard about this place from an island resident as being a local favorite. The fare consists of basic usual breakfast items. Although donuts were supposed to...be kind of a specialty, I can't say that there was anything special about the donuts, and would definitely not recommend going just for those. On the day that we went, we could see the outdoor order window, pickup, and outdoor seating, and did not realize until after committing to it that indoor seating was available as well. They were gracious enough to allow us to change. The table condiments bear a sign that they get cleaned between seatings.More

A must on Nantucket!! I only got donuts to go (maple, coconut, and chocolate frosted) but all the other food looked amazing. There's a cute cafe area outside and also inside. Highly recommend, also it's cash only!

Delicious blueberry muffins, eggs and coffee. Comfy place with a lot of locals eating. Convenient to Stop & Shop and other stores. Not touristy.

Went for the DONUTS and they were AWESOME! And coffee and tea were hot. What more do you want?!! Can’t address pancakes or table service as we sat on benches out front and enjoyed the morning.

How can such a mediocre place be so popular? I fell for the hype and ordered blueberry pancakes—they were mushy, not cooked, the blueberries were hard (how can blueberries be hard?) and the so-called blueberry syrup was colored sugar water. I complained and wasn’t charged.

This breakfast did definitely not live up to the hype! It was all just ok and our waitress was so rude! Was my first and last visit! Too many other great places!!

These donuts are the perfect size and they weren't too dry. They're cash only ($1) and come in cinnamon sugar, chocolate frosted, coconut, and plain. We got a chocolate and coconut and they were both amazing.

Our doughnuts were still warm! They were worth a trip. The rest of the food I would skip. It’s just basic dinner food.

Eating at Downyflake is like putting on your favorite t-shirt. Comfortable, and homey. The staff members who have been there for years add to the charm. The baked goods by the front door keep calling me back in, particularly the Raspberry Brambles. When heated up,...these gooey, soft, with just a bit of nutty crunch delectables are worthy of an out loud "Yumm" every time! I have dropped in many times to take a bramble home to heat up later. That's heaven in a bag right there!More

I went to Nantucket for a day to be with clients of the human service organization where I work. One woman -- a lifelong "local" -- suggested we have lunch at Downyflake. Perfect choice. This legendary spot is not downtown, yet not far off the...beaten path, either. It is obviously frequented by locals as opposed to the khaki-pants-loafers-no-socks-whales-on-belt set. My grilled cheese and tomato on marble rye was good, but my kale and linguica soup was literally the best I ever had. It had red kidney beans which I found to be a nice addition. Of course I had to try a doughnut so I went for the chocolate covered one. This is the real thing...dense, cakey batter as opposed to the air-filled variety common in national doughnut chains. I am so glad we went to Downyflake.More
