AMAZING LOCAL FOOD!!!

This was definitely our favorite meal in Macedonia! Our server Senat truly went above and beyond to ensure we had an outstanding dinning experience. Just such an incredible local restaurant, that serves traditional Macedonian dishes. The place is really amazing with an outstanding vibe and atmosphere. The food is outstanding, starting with the slow cooked lamb, the delicious pork, and the charcuterie board! Everything is so tasty and well prepared. I highly recommend going there for dinner!!!

Excellent dinner

Excellent price-quality relation, nice atmosphere and great location. Meatplatter and cheeseplatter were great starters and the garlicbread was awesome. Also the veal pot as a main course was straight from heaven and the mixed grill wasbig enough for three people.

Best dinner in Skopje so far

After a few dinners in the city center in the fancy restaurants by the river and close to the main square we sought a recommendation from our hotel and we were given Old City House. Everything was good. The meat stew cooken in the oven in a pot with vegetables was excellent, the meat so tender and tasty. The salad was large with tasty pomatoes. Raki was excellent the service was quick. Price was moderate. if you want to try local cuisine, this is definitely a place to go.

Good central food option

Old exterior , the side of the building looked like it’s close as the side doors are closed shut and tried the front. Beautiful interior of water feature, garden section. Red house wine which was Macedonian was good. Dolmades was average. The vine leafs were not holding the meat pieces in, the meat was not too gamey and was ok. The breaded green pepper with cheese was good, wasn’t too cheesey or too oily The grilled porcini mushrooms was good. Tasted like a supplement for meat. Was just oily, other could have been a great dish. The salad was large and could be shared by two tomatoes and cucumbers chunky, strips of green pepper , onion and shreaded goats cheese A salad and three starter was too much. Service was good, had a language misunderstanding with the order as asked about dishes and ended up turning up- should ask the waiter to repeat the order ya the end.

It was a Great Experience

We enjoyed everything about this place, the ambiance, service, and of course the food. The soup was delicious, good salad, fried cheese, and a tasty cold potato dish. The star of the show was the “sausage” - so tender and flavorful. The accompanying fries were also good. Service was friendly and professional.

Perfect local restaurant

Excellent restaurant. Been here several times and everything was always great. Beautiful local interior and delicious local food. There are a lot of restaurants with local cuisine in the city, however, if you want to fully immerse yourself in the local flavour and taste some really delicious local food, then I definitely recommend this place. Convenient and beautiful electronic menu. The restaurant is located in the centre of the city, but at the same time, the place is cosy and quiet. The prices are quite reasonable. I recommend this restaurant if you would like to fully feel the local flavour.

Unforgettable wining, dining and music

Anywhere we go in the Balkans we always look for a restaurant that specialises in each countries' former times. It's hard to say exactly what makes this atmosphere, but it certainly has to do with the food, the surroundings and other elements such as the other people who go there and the music. The Old House did not disappoint in any respect. The food is amazing, with a wide range to cater for all tastes: starters, salads, and main courses of traditional recipes with accompanying vegetable dishes and starches, anything from light veggie courses to all the ranges of meat and fish. I can say the starters and mains were amazing: I had no room for dessert. The wines were lovely too, and we stuck with local wines, including a nice (white) Tramenec. We also sampled the local range of rakija, spirits with a kick. On the second night we went there, a band entertained people at their tables, and we were no exception, playing Balkan tunes we knew, such as Mesecina and Niska Banja, while locals got less commercial songs, presumably, but all played with great gusto by the violinist, guitarist, double bassist and accordionist. I can't underline how brilliant our two visits were, and - obviously - I think it's a must in Skopje.

Old City House Restaurant in old 19 century house in Skopje

Good, excellent food with local taste and specialities in nice old house ambient. Music is in background with respect to space and history. We have not eaten "hard" food but local special dishes like breaded paprika, gravce (beans), lamb/pork in pot with vegetqbles, macedonian salad with parsley and roasted paprika salad were all excellent together with red dry macedonian vine

Delicious Dinner

Following reviews, we visited for dinner mid week. The venue is pretty interesting and sets a nice atmosphere. Between us we ordered a mixture of starters and mains, all of which were very tasty. Overall: I'd happily return or recommend to others.

Terrific food and service!

We had an amazing last dinner in Skopje at this fabulous restaurant! We had smothered lamb with vegetables, pork and leek stew topped with a giant (and very hot) dried chilli and a beautifully presented dessert (apple strudel and baklava)! The food was delicious and the service from our friendly waiter was excellent. This is highly recommended!

Atmosphere, taste, quality, traditon

Absolutely amazing first experience of traditional Macedonian food & hospitality. Shared Ajvar (the deservedly popular traditional red pepper spread) with wonderful warm freshly baked bread made with olive oil. To follow both had the smothered lamb pot which was the most flavoursome, melt in your mouth dish, similar to moussaka but with slow baked chunks of lamb instead of minced lamb - to die for! Highly recommend this restaurant for choice, quality, ambience, price & above all flavour.

Tasty steak

If you just want a regular, juicy steak that actually tastes good, with standard sides - nothing crazy, just a tasty steak - this is the place for you. So happy we ate this on our last night rather than the tasteless steak (litterally - no spices, no marinade or anything whatsoever) we had at Pelister the night before. Wish we had gone here both nights!

Cigarette smoke kills everything!

The food was ok. Not spectacular but tasty. We have been offered a variety of traditional Macedonian food such as cheese, paprika spread (ayjvar), pastry etc. The restaurant, to my surprise allows smoking inside. It became unbearable to breath at some point, so I had to leave. If I knew in the first place I would not come, and I certainly have no intention of coming again. No food can compensate the poor air condition.

Nice place

It was a nice place. Especially for people visiting Skopje, if your into more well known food like chicken and schnitzel and not Kebab or kofte.. But the staff on the floor is older men, they could be more welcoming and smiling... The place has great history behind. And the food was really good...

They offer several traditional dishes. I tried the Macedonian salad and the Old House pot. The salad required some additional seasoning and the meat in the Old House pot was a bit dry for me, but had a good flavor. The service was very friendly.
