Amazing food! We asked a waiter for a recommendation, and he was helpful and brought us starters that were authentic (from ajvar and pindjur to their version of garlic bread). For main dish we asked for the menus but wanted to try also local specialties and it did not dissapoint... at all!
We couldn’t finnish our main dishes, but took a brave step and decided to try their baklava. We ordered only one portion!
Special compliments to the waiter who made us feel welcome, brought us open wines they had for us to try and decide which we liked better. Most of all we liked how honest he was; to the point where he said we won’t be able to finnish our main dish 😅

We went with a group on a Saturday night - service was a little slow - food portions were huge and tasty....so think about sharing. Had a nice cold pint of local Skopsko draft beer - reasonably priced around £3. Large groups of men in the restaurant, not many women...and later a band of musicians came along and played traditional music (to be honest the music was a bit of a dirge). The groups of men seemed happy with the musicians, putting banknote in the folds of the accordian.

One of the best local foods we had in Macedonia!
Little bit pricey if compared to other local restaurants, but worth it. Tasty food.
Only one thing they could improve: when we went to the restaurant to pick up the order (ordered by the website KLIKNI JADI) there were lot of smokers inside the restaurant. If I were to dine there, I would give up eating there because I cannot stand the smell of cigarettes, even more in an eating place.
And also the waiter instead of asking the order number, he asked about the amount we paid online. I had no problem showing him the price we paid, but maybe for other people it could be little bit embarassing/awkward to be asked to show it.

It's a bit expensive restaurant compare to the Skopje standarts; but it's highly recommended. I also have to mention that it's in Bohemian Street and you can realize the differences between this location and the others right away. There you can try Macedonian kitchen with some traditional wine. Our red wine tasted like carob which we unfortunately don't like very much. We ordered smoked pork neck as a starter which we did love so deeply and tava as main dish. Tava was also delicious, but I should mention that it's a really oily meal.

We ordered food from Skopski Merak a couple of times. It’s top-level local food! Highly recommended. Well-cooked meat, decent portions, tasty bread, fresh and delicious salad.
Probably only one thing I would mention for those who want to visit the restaurant in. When we visited it was really a heavy cigarette smoke inside. As people were smoking inside.. I would advice the Skopski Merak to prohibit smoking inside the restaurant.. It’s unhealthy.

Here on business. Went to a different, and rated place every meal I could so far for four days/nights (6 places in total so far) and this by far is the best place I’ve eaten.
In a very upmarket part of the city. Mostly locals and waaay out of the way of the tourist-laden centre. Service was fantastic. I was on my own, and my waiter, Ljubisa, saw to it that he would be my companion. Very friendly and accommodating, providing me with excellent recommendations.
Because of Ljubisa’s advice, I thought the food was excellent - and he wasn’t only choosing the most expensive thing on the menu like some places.
For a customer from Britain/France/Germany etc, you’ll find the prices VERY reasonable, despite its upmarket feel. I paid approx 23 euros for 2 starters a main and 4 beers.
Finally the atmosphere was excellent. It felt busy but not loud. Between 8 and 9pm (just when your food is settling), a live band started playing a mixture of traditional music and covers.
It was perfect.

We went to Skopski Merak for our last dinner in Macedonia. Definitely one of the best dinners we have had on the trip! The food was delicious and was very well priced. It was quite busy compared to all the other restaurants we have been to (it's winter so not peak season). So in summer, it will probably be even busier!
The pork ribs we ordered were cooked in the oven for 8 hours and it tasted amazing! We also really enjoyed the stuffed eggplant and the garlic bread. For dessert, we got the grandmothers cake and tri lecce cake. Definitely recommend trying their homemade grandmothers cake!
Overall, the food was delicious and the staff there were also great!

We rather avoided traditional offerings in Skopje after some previous underwhelming experiences but rather regretted doing so after eating here.
This is a really popular place in "restaurant street" which is a few minutes away from the main square. We had Zucchini Fritters & Baked Feta with Peppers to start and Pork Stew in Bread & Stuffed Pork Fillet for main with a bottle of wine (glug!). All of the food was excellent, well cooked and really tasty but the portions were just insane so beware what you order!
The final bill came to 3130MKD or around £45 at the time which is very reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food and drink we ordered. Recommended!

This restaurant is probably most popular traditional Macedonian restaurant in Skopje with good reason food is excellent, menu offers a great variety of dishes (also for vegetarians); spirits, wine and beer selection is impressive, service is very professional and quick. It is located in the very popular neighborhood (Debar Mala) where many other restaurants compete, but Merak is always full, so reservation is practically a must for dinner any time of the year. For the first course I had stuffed breaded pepper (excellent, you should try), "gurman pleskavica" (very tasty) served with baked potatoes and a serving of Macedonian salat (huge portion, sufficient of 3 people), and two glasses of white wine with a small bottle of mineral water. The cost was 25 € which is expensive for Skopje.

Highly rated here, and bartenders at our hotel said the same. Showed to be a 20 min walk from our hotel in the city center, but was less and actually ver pleasant as we stopped for a drink along the way. Definitely book a table, the food was excellent as was the service. Salads were fresh, the cheesy bread was addicting, the meat platter was incredible…I cannot figure how the chicken on the kabob remained so juicy and tender!! One skewer would feed two people if you order a salad and starter, we over ordered as usual but there was nothing that we’d ordered that I would not reorder when I go back. Sit outside, the street scene is a show by itself as it seems the young people in their cars driving slowly down the street are showing off more than the young people walking around or sitting in the bars/restaurants. A great neighborhood to be in for the evening, highly recommend!

My husband and I sat at an outdoor table for dinner (had the whole outdoor area to ourselves). I wasn't very hungry, so I split the Triple Mix app with my husband (3 cold spreads served with breadsticks). I liked all three (large serving, even though it doesn't look like that much). My husband ordered the chicken filled with cheese, which was rather strange. It had a different texture (a little rubbery), although the potatoes were good. Service was prompt and our server was very nice. The food was very inexpensive.

It cost us 2,5 € to get to this place from Skopje Bus Station by taxi. Make sure you book a table on a Saturday nite for a good place! Live music starts around 9 and takes place at the lower level where you can smoke too! Many choices of delicious local food with affordable prices.put your make up on wear your heels and have a lovely night at Skopje Merak!

If Skopje than you must to visit Skopski Merak. I advise you to reserve a table, because during the weekend is usually full.
Our waiter was polite and helpful. The meals were very delicious. At the end we received a small shot of a local alcohol as a gift of the restaurant.
I can truly recommend this place.

I'm not quite sure what all the fuss is about this restaurant. While it serves simple and traditional food, I found the prices to be higher than most traditional restaurants I visited in Skopje. I opted for a selection of recommendations from the waiter, and while some were good, others were just average. Maybe it wasn't one of their best days, but overall, it didn't quite live up to the hype for me!
