We walk to the barking dog every once in awhile to meet up with friends. The food is ok, but a bit outdated. They offer a huge menu but they need some newer ideas. The drinks are amazing !!!

I tried this place based in the good reviews and I'm glad I did. The panini's were excellent, loaded with turkey and the other with pastrami. It had lots of parking, very convenient, pub atmosphere. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive.

Barking Dog is about 10 minutes from the interstate, in the downtown center with off street parking. I agree with the 4 star rating: food & service were both very good. Half bar & half restaurant, on 2 levels. Excellent crisp salads, very good salmon wrap & burger, good children's meals, and good variety of appetizers & sandwiches, including pot... More

Always a good meal - love everything on the menu except the buffalo chicken egg roll appetizer thing... the Cinnamon bun sundae is dangerously good - big enough to share with a few friends! Best gimlet in town as well. Need more vegan options.

Anyway I promise that this will be the last time I donate my hard earned money to this sham of an "eating spot" in Amesbury. Case in point you still cannot get Onion Rings instead of the same old fries substituted on your plate when you order an $11 burger at this joint. BUT you can order a side of... More

Arrived here for dinner after getting turned off at Crave, no ability to eat in restaurant and pub atmosphere , nothing like the Old Crave. Barking Dog delivered two fine fish dinners, great cocktails, reasonably priced and excellent service on a friday eve, seated right away, service so very attentive, a great dinner all in all, we will be back... A varied menu and a great chef make this a spot in Amesbury not to miss. We usually stop for weekend lunch and it is not too crowded. Service is a bit slow, but definitely worth the wait when the food arrives and you begin! I can recommend the Sloppy Joe!!

The food is perfect if you just want to grab a quick bite and not spend a fortune. It's by no means bad, but it is what it is.

Go for the phenominal food......it's older, comfy, great brew, wine martinis... Needs a little update here and there but it's like Cheers... Homey. And did I mention the food is great... The best chicken salad sandwich ever.... Go.
