We have been there many times over the years and always enjoy it. It is a bit on the pricier side but a great place for date night.

I was part of a group of 25 who met here as part of a financial planning meeting. The crusted clam chowder- with bacon- was out of this world and my filet mignon was done perfectly. There were a variety of hors d'oeuvres, each presented creatively, and desserts, judging by the reactions of my fellow diners were outstanding as well.

The Federal is the best of what the greater Springfield area has to offer, as far as upscale dining. The risotto balls are fantastic. The specials are always spot on. The restaurant setting is quintessential New England. It's our go to place and has been for years.

Went with GF's parents and grandmother in August. The waiter was a saint as the parents and grandmother are very picky eaters. But solely judging my meal and dining experience, i found it to be overpriced and overrated. I had the steak with topped with crab (forget what the exact name was) but the strip steak was a slight overcook... More

My wife and went to the Federal to celebrate our 28th!!! The Federal has been a special place to go celebrate. Ordered an eggplant app special. Very disappointed. My wife ordered a fig app that she had last time there. Not as good as she remembered. For our meals my wife had the cod special...she was not happy. I had... More

I must admit my wife and I dine out a lot and at a variety of restaurants of varying prices. The Federal is not inexpensive but I believe worth it. Granted, it is a bit daunting at first when arriving to a full bar with a mediocre musician playing at a volume too loud for the room, but those feelings... More

This is an upscale restaurant that does it right. Service is suburb, Atmosphere is elegant and the Food is so flavorful. I would go there over and over again. The management staff, bartenders and the Waitress Staff are so professional. Worth every penny spent.

The bar at the federal is a fun place to get together. The drinks are great and on select nights they offer free appetizers on silver spoons accompanied by live entertainment, usually an acoustic guitarist playing our favorites. If your in the mood for a more upscale evening I recommend the dining room and their 7 course tasting menu, it's... More

People rave about this place but I think it is entirely overrated. The dinner prices rival NYC restaurants but the quality is all small town Massachusetts, NOT even close to NY quality. Chopped salad came in tiny canning glass. Seafood smelled old, hamburger was greasy and pizza mediocre. Have family member with gluten allergy and they had nothing to offer... More

Built by Samuel Converse in 1862, the impressive Greek revival structure at 135 cooper street in Agawam, Massachusetts became home to the Federal Hill Club in 1936. Under the management of its owners, the Moretti family, that establishment remained a premiere restaurant for over fifty years. The Federal’s current owners Michael Presnal and Ralph Santaniello easily integrate the white linen elegance of that bygone era with a fresh and innovative “new American” cuisine that is perfectly prepared and impeccably served. Strong Italian and French influences inspire the contemporary culinary style of chef Presnal in dishes such as his red beet risotto, burnt tangerine glazed cod, and white-chocolate panna cotta. The Federal is dressed up as a special occasion restaurant, but is sociable and affordable enough for every occasion. The restaurant enjoys a dedicated following of appreciative diners from New York to Boston.
