After many years of hearing the praises of this restaurant, we finally gave it a try. I guess we waited too long. While it may have lived up to the reputation back in the day, we felt is was definitely past its prime, a surprising and costly disappointment. Nothing was good, bouillabaisse soup had strong salmon in it, and the... More

We had dinner at Le Lyonnais in the Boston suburb of Acton. The food was classic French prepared in the traditional way. If you are looking for onion soup, escargot, coq au vin, etc. Le Lyonnais is the place to go. The restaurant is in a converted house and the several dining rooms give the feeling of dining in someone's... More

Set in an old home and run by the chef and owners Gerard and Joan, this restaurant is a gem. It has small cozy dining rooms, which in my opinion are best suited to couples and groups of 4 adults. The food is fabulous with trout, quail, crepes and duck specialties and daily fresh fish, you can expect a wonderful... More

back in the day i'm sure this place was "the cat's meow!" the food is seriously OLD school french. think early julia child, america just learning about fine french cuisine. atmosphere is quaint (it's in an old house) and chef gerard is adorable. the food is just kind of meh.

This was such a disappointment. Expected much better from beginning to end. The bread was not "hot and just out of the oven" as advertised by the waitress. Same old restaurant rolls you get anywhere. Onion soup was bland with very little taste. The mushroom crepe was better but still so plain as to be boring. The Cassoulet was NOT... More

Four of us went to Le Lyonnais on Sat. night, and everyone loved the food. We had escargots, onion soup, roast duck a l'orange, roast duck with olives, chicken livers and seafood paella. Everything without exception was delicious. The service was excellent and leisurely. I don't know what some of these reviewers are talking about. I had the duck a... More

Chef/owner Gerard has been running this amazing small restaurant for 44 years and shows no signs of retiring on his laurels -- and a grateful nation thanks Heaven! The ambience at Le Lyonnais is warm and inviting. One of the three dining rooms looks out at a little pond at the edge of a wood, and all three are small.... More

We selected this restaurant based on positive reviews on another site. It was absolutely the worst French food we have ever had! The $9 bowl of onion soup was watery and flavorless and topped with a pathetic gratinee. It was more like a consommé with a little chopped onion thrown in. Classic french onion should should be made with a... More

Our second visit to Le Lyonnais seemed like we went to a different, expensive, and not very good restaurant. The escargot appetizer and the onion soup were good. The ‘seared’ scallops appetizer at $13.95 was two scallops poorly cooked. Ouch! Rack of lamb was very good. That was the only entrée that was not very far below our expectations. The... More

We have been going to this restaurant for 15 years. And 15 years ago, it was a great experience. Now, it is almost unrecognizable, as there is very little operational efficiency and the quality of some of the traditional meals has declined. When I say operational efficiency, I am mainly talking about the front of the house, especially the wait... More
