Used to be really great, but this summer the quality is suffering. The last 3 times we have asked for extra, extra well-done burgers but all three times they were rare. Also, the fries were only little bits and pieces and looked and tasted like...the frozen crinkle cut fries from the grocery store. So disappointing to see what was a local institution go down like this.More

Little burgers with slimy rolls at a very expensive price. Sadly I believe the is because they have let kids who don't care take over running the place. I like french fries and theirs used to be GREAT, now overcooked and look like they were...cooked in advance and reheated.More

Great place to hit a bucket of balls and enjoy and old fashioned burger and good fries. This is takeout only with picnic tables to sit at both undercover and in the open.

Handmade burgers and fries cooked to border on the flattop. Conveniently located off of rt. 4 it has become a staple of any trip (or return trip) from Northern Maine. If looking for a quick burger and passing by this is a great option. Be...aware, they are cash only but they do have an ATM.More

So good that we time our trips north, so that we can stop here for lunch. Extensive menu, but go for the burger - they grind steak daily to make these juicy sandwiches. Add the hand-cut fries and you'll be happily full, but sad that...you can't enjoy one of their many flavors of soft-serve ice cream. Surprisingly inexpensive! Clean bathrooms behind the restaurant. Nice picnic tables where you can enjoy your meal and watch the mini-golfers. Just wish they served onion rings...More

We stopped in need of a quick bite to eat and what a find. Cash only, the prices are remarkably low & I was not expecting much - terrific burger, good hot dogs, unusual but excellent lobster roll and fantastic french fries. I would highly...recommend this place for families and anyone looking for good, cooked on the spot food at a remarkable price.More

Love this place they grind their beef daily and you can tell the difference. Fries are very good. And of course dessert, ice cream. Prices are very reasonable. After eating you can play their miniature golf and work off the food. Summer they have car...rallies fun for everyone.More

Our day out with our Grandkids, now almost teenagers. We chose this location due to the fact there's mini golf, batting cages, driving range and burgers and ice cream. We chose mini golf today and got our colored golf balls and off we go. None...of the holes are marked with a sign but not too difficult to figure out. The "greens" are in rough shape but it's the same for all of us and the price is right at $4 each. Interesting configurations and challenging. We laughed a lot and had fun then we decided a drink would be all we needed by the time we were finished. The burger stand was busy but moving right along. I went to the ice cream window where there's a LOT of choices so be prepared to have a hard time deciding! While waiting for a black raspberry shake, I was checking out the other window fare. Lots of juicy burgers and piles of fries and onion rings moving out to hungry customers. Next time we'll bring our appetites for lunch!More

Roy's mini golf is alright, its nothing spectacular but fun to do on a nice day. The food is quick, and good. They have the best steak and cheese subs.

Hubby and I brought our 4 year old daughter here to plan an afternoon of mini golf and for a yummy treat. I had compared the price of Roy's to another local mini golf location, and Roy's was quite a bit cheaper. At $4 a...person I couldn't complain. The mini golf course is older and looks a little tired, but it was extremely clean, and the young lady who we had to pay was friendly. 18 holes was a little too long for my daughter, and she grew bored half way through. It was busy, which I think added to the boredom factor. All in all we had a good time. We made our way over to the food area. Food was reasonably priced, quickly cooked and SOO yummy. The fries are delicious! For my picky 4 year old to eat them, I knew they were good! My husband had a burger, which he enjoyed, and I had the clam cakes. We sat at a table under a tree in the shade, and people watched while people were on the driving range. We had a great inexpensive family afternoon!More

We were traveling as a large group and stopped for a quick lunch. My husband observed through a window a cook grinding the meat. No pink sludge in these burgers.

Decent food and consistent. Burgers are good but the fries are great. Lots of outside eating space. We really appreciate the low prices and knowing what to expect every time. We come here regularly in the summer months.

We like to stop at Roy's on our way to camp every summer. I find the hamburgers to be delicious they usually have caramelized onions but you can also get sliced non-cooked onions. They are the perfect size for me because I like them nice...and thin. My husband likes a thicker hamburger so he usually orders two of them. When we were there it happened to be old car night so it was very fun after eating to go walk around and look at the old cars. As we were leaving we had to get a frappe or an ice cream to go. They have 24 flavors of softserve ice cream which is very fun I had coffee. You can also get had ice cream.More

They serve Gifford's ice cream which you can buy in the store but they do offer more flavors and the price is okay for an ice cream stand, the burgers are mediocre but the locals love it, so maybe it is me. I do not...eat fast food, I prefer fresh food places. It is better than other fast food places so I will give it that. The folks that work there are all very friendly, it is almost always busy and the locals rely on Spring's arrival by Roy's picnic tables being set out, and fall coming by the picnic tables being stacked away. Very much a local establishment that people in the area all suggest going to, so I may be the picky one on this one.More

I heard from many people that Roy's was known for it's cheese steaks and hamburgers, so on a recent drive through Auburn, I thought I'd check it out. I was extremely disappointed and certainly don't think this place lived up to its expectations. The cheesesteak...was rubbery, bland and no better quality than an average sub shop. The counter staff were curt and rather impolite...like they just wanted to take your order and get you out of there. Beware: It is cash or check only so be prepared. Otherwise, you will have to pay a lofty ATM fee inside. Wouldn't recommend this place unless you're really hungry. The breakfast is cheap and pretty good.More
