We love taking a Fall ride up to the Notre Dame Bakery. The bread is baked right there and you can smell it for miles. The only drawback is that they close at 4:30 so get there early.

I love visiting this place and getting pastries and fresh baked bread and the money goes to helping others.

This place is awesome. The smell of fresh baked breads and pies takes me back. Prices are fair. Its out of the way some but worth the trip.

We have been enjoying both the bakery and the Friday night spaghetti supper when we visit the area annually. It is served cafeteria style with a choice of 3 sauces or pizza with salad bread and finished with those delicious pies.(pies available at the bakery to take home). It is all you can eat. The staff is friendly and helpful.... More

Located in an old Shaker Village amidst apple orchards and religious statues is a nice bakery. Breads and desert items are the standbys and are very good. The work of the bakery helps support a program in York County that helps people in need with a food pantry, job training and a shelter. In season apples are sold in a... More

The Bakery at Notre Dame is on the grounds of a former Shaker complex now owned by the Brothers of Christian Instruction and operated by the York County Shelter Programs which uses original equipment and many original recipes from the days when the brothers operated it. I’ve been coming here for years for the bakery and adjacent attractions. The brothers... More

My family has been coming to Maine since the early 1920's and anytime that I am in the area we always stop at the Notre Dame Bakery. The lemon and fig bars are outstanding and if you happen to be there when the outdoor cart is open I highlly recommend the home made french fries!! Notre Dame is definitely a... More

I grew up in Alfred and am lucky to have family still living there. Whenever I visit home, one of my first stops is always The Bakery at Notre Dame. I always get the dinner rolls and a few other of their fresh breads or pastries. Everything baked here is of the highest quality - clearly made with love and... More

There is serious talent producing these products!!! Try the garlic and basil focaccia. This bread must be award winning!! Or, in the early Spring, the maple nut bars. The best part of visiting this wonderful bakery is that the proceeds go to an absolutely wonderful cause!!!
