This is a small local establishment with daily specials and a limited stable menu of sandwiches, soups, and salads. You order at the counter and they serve you at your table. If you are looking to support fresh, local restaurants, this is the place. Anything...you choose is going to be delicious. And don’t forget to get the amazing bread pudding!More
My. 1st & LAST visit!! I thought i was getting a $9.99 special!! When i went to pay for my meal for 1 it was $17.98😳..... OMG!!🙄 I ask what am I being charged for. The cashier/chef i assumed said chicken salad (small scoop I...must add) on a bed of LOTS of mixed greens and a few diced tomatoes & walnuts w/a few chips garnish on the edges $8.95, a Small CUP of mixed corn, pot, & shrimp soup $3.95 and small small serving of strawberry bread pudding ( it was just OK 1 thing it needed was some more sauce) $3.95. I guess he must have threw in the glass of unsweetened tea for FREE!!!🤨Thank goodness or my meal would have been $20 for 1 person!!! I'm sure he saw the shock in my eyes when he told me my total!! He said is that OK with you??? I said i thought i was getting the $9.99 special. Then he preceded to tell me that i got all the good stuff and it was extra!! 😂😂😂 My advice to anyone going to eat there be careful what you are ordering!!! I did tell the young girl before placing my order that i wanted the special!! She said everything is a special!!🤑 Let me add the menu for the day is wrote on a chalkboard and you order from that *the specials*!! It was really confusing to understand!! The lady that was directly behind me had been there once before and she was even confused!! Also, i must add the food is nothing to bragged about!!! But the chef was patting himself on the back as if it was the best in central Louisiana!!More
Don’t miss this place if you are in downtown Alex. Small Quaint place in an older house but it’s AMAZING food Bread Pudding options daily! Daily specials! Daily offerings! Regular staple items on the menu! ALWAYS Delicious!
we had the loaded baked potato soup but it was really jus cream of potato soup as there was not a piece of potato within a block of this place. the side salad was small but it was tasty. the bread pudding, which came with...this combo lunch was nothing more than slices of white bread soaked in some sugar sauce. not hardly anything that could be billed a bread puddingMore
Fresh and clean Quaint and cozy. Excellent food. Nice place for lunch. Friendly service. John goes out of his way to provide customer satisfaction.
Say yes to the fish tacos... Perfect tangy spice, texture, flavor filled... Great cup of soup & blueberry bread pudding... Thanks Word Of Mouth cafe for another great lunch... Loved it!
So we didn't find the Word of Mouth by word of mouth. We found it on the the internet and it is a great find. The pork tacos are out of this world, poppy seed salad and blueberry bread pudding. I may have died and...gone to heaven. If you are in Alexandria, you need to give this place try. Daily lunch specials and everything from scratch.More
We have been trying to go to more local Spots to eat and were in town on business and saw this place to try. There was a line to order before noon which sounded promising and the staff was friendly, but lunch for 2 was...$24. I got the blackened chicken pasta with garlic bread, Caesar salad and bread pudding. The bread was ok, the Caesar salad was a bit dry, the chicken looked and tasted like it was just boiled or broiled, no flavor, not blackened. Pasta with sauce was bland and bread pudding tasted like it wasn’t done, very doughy and inedible. Hubby got chicken pot pie with no crust on it. Maybe what we ordered was the problem and their sandwiches are great but I wouldn’t return.More
GREAT lunch spot with the owner prepping amazing food to order. And saying ‘great food’ In Louisiana is sayin’ something!
