You have to go to this iconic and inexpensive place....you don't go for the food but rather to say you were there! Almost everything is inexpensive Panama fare - which usually means fried.

We visited Cafe Coca Cola with a friend who is a local. He recommended we (two ladies) not go alone, simply because it can be a little difficult to navigate the area. We walked in and found a table, and we were very comfortable, even...though there appeared to be no other tourists visiting. A server came over immediately and took our drink orders. I ordered the arroz frito con pollo (chicken fried rice). My cousin who was traveling with me ordered the shrimp cocktail, and our friend (the local) had a seafood dish. We all had Coca Cola to accompany our meals. We all enjoyed everything we ordered! My arroz frito con pollo was the best! We felt like we were actually among locals here, and it was awesome. I highly recommend, but if you have a local contact who can go with you, it might be more comfortable. Also, I speak enough Spanish to get by, but the server did not speak any English. It wasn't a problem for us, but it could be a little difficult if you speak no Spanish. Highly recommend! Enjoy!More

This place is historic! Find out why when you visit. It is a simple típico restaurant that isn’t trying to reinvent the culinary experience.

After researching the top local spots to go to in Panama City the Cafe Coca Cola was always highly recommended. I looked forward to a local spot with rich history and even richer food. My first step into the place was met by a peculiar...odor. I ignored it assuming maybe that was part of the local vibe. When looking at the menu it was extensive…. Maybe too extensive. After reading some Trip Advisor recommendations I order the Coca Cola special sandwich and my wife ordered the breaded sea bass. The waitress unfriendly, which I don’t mind at all but the service was lacking. We waited 45 minutes for our meal even though 3people who came in after us got their meal. My wife’s sea bass squishy and her sides were cold. My sandwich was also like warm and the bread was soggy. The only thing I liked was the rice and beans. The waitress never refilled our drinks and after asking for the check she did several other things before bringing it to the table. At least the food was inexpensive. I think this café only caters to locals. I usually give a restaurant a second chance, but unfortunately this won’t be the case.More

This spot is amazing for cheap eats at a good portion size. I enjoyed coming here after Spanish classes and dining with the locals. The locals eat here. Hence it is popular and cheap. The café has been opened since 1875 and shows no sign...of closing. It still has the old coca cola advertisements inside, if I was ever to return to Panama city, I would dine here again.More

I got the Coca Cola Special sandwich and it was great! This is a low-frills place, and I appreciated how the menu provides a bit of an explanation of the cafe's history. Service was fast. The bathroom was pretty gross, but the cafe itself is...worth the visit.More

Cafe Coca Cola has some excellent Panamanian food. The food is rich in flavor and most enjoyable. The establishment claims to be the oldest restaurant in Panama. I would highly recommend that anyone visiting Panama City to eat at Cafe Coca Cola.

Solid breakfast. Inexpensive and definitely Panamanian menu. Nice place in an area of Casio Viejo were more locals hang out and shops. Less touristy. I recommend highly. Living like a Panamanian is a good life.

One of the oldest restaurants in Ciudad de Panamá at the edge of Casco Viejo. Not fancy food but very well prepared and good portions. The prices beat nearly anything else you can find in Casco Viejo. Popular with locals and not just tourists. Good...service too.More

We paid a visit to this great little restaurant on the recommendation of friends who have been here before, and we weren't disappointed. This resto has been in operation at this location since 1875 and according to the menu, many famous people from all walks...of life have entered these doors over the past many years. We enjoyed a most ample lunch of corvina, fries, patecones, and salad and the whole bill came to just $10.00. The food was delicious, service was good and friendly, despite the fact we can't speak much of the language ourselves. Our waitress was very patient and always smiling. This resto is located just on the edge of Casco Viejo and some of the surroundings are seedy and run-down looking, but don't let that stop you from searching this place out and giving it a try. The streets around here are very narrow and typical of Panama, very poorly-signed, if signed at all. Parking of any kind can be a challenge but don't let that stop you from seeking out this place and giving it a try. You'll be glad you did!More
