I just can say great things about this humble restaurant a Panamanian house in a difficult place to find but it was worth the search be cause all the plates are tasty and wonderful i went twice, i needed repeat the experience.
This is a review that dreaded write but I am going to anyway...
It's been over 1 year since I have been to this Restaurant and I will never go back ever!
I ordered a lemonade, which was more sour than a lemon itself, and...it was half full in a wine glass...they could have said, 'we don't have it, we don't make it' instead of making it on the spot and not properly making it.
We were waited by a man who was in no 'waiter uniform' and brought is the Italian bread.
Then we ordered the clams and he brought us some more bread (without telling us that it was extra, at extra charge). I personally don't like this, I like being informed of what is 'extra and what is not'
I ordered some stuffed raviolis and my husband ordered something else. We were both happy with the food expect my lemonade.
I could not finish the ravioli, so I asked the waiter to pack the rest to go.
We got the bill and it has the extra bread charge, which we paid...even thought we did not ask.
I went to the car and then realized the waiter never brought me the to go box.
I go back in the restaurant and he says 'oh yes let me go get it', he comes back 'after a while' with my to go box.
I open my box to it the next day to eat the left overs he packed and it is full of hair!
Yes! He picked it up from the garbage and packed for it me!
Instead of telling me we will cook another dish for you because I made the mistake of throwing it away, no, he picks it up from the garbage and packs it for me to eat!
That is really disgusting!
I would never eat there ever again.More
The food in this restaurant is top top of the culinary quality range. Everything from their antipasto bar to their homemade pastas are truly an experience. I have been to lots of really good italian restaurants in major cities around the world and San Domenico...is really up to par when it comes to the food. Definitely a must if you are in Panama.
I hope that in the future they become really popular and find a better location. The locale is in a residential area and it seems to be a house that was turned into a restaurant. This is really a minor flaw when you get your food and get transported to a true italian flavor.
They do not open very late, 10:30pm on Saturdays, I recommend calling before going so they can reserve a table. The place is small.More
I travel to Panama frequently... there are many Italian Restaurants... however, San Domenico is a superior experience!
The place is tended by the chef/owner Paulo who is an artist in the kitchen.. as the previous reviewer said, it is not easy to find.. but i...urge you to try and go!
They make their own pasta, and it is amazing! you can get a duo or trio of pastas.. like a tasting, and the chef will indulge you in all your special requests! its like being invited to eat at the home of a pasta master.
He even makes his own Tiramisu, which is heavenly...

On my last visit to Panama City, I was able to share with some friend few visits to variety of restaurants in Panama City and I found once again how good you can eat in Panama. This is a house in a semingly residential area with nothing on the outside that would let you know you are at the right place. That being said, you must do everything that you can to find this hidden treasure to enjoy some of the...best Italian food that you have tasted. Trust me, you will love this place and thank me for the recommendation. The chief is a magician whose pasta's and sauces are among the best that I've ever had. He will make you anything... I would recommend that you try his offering of three or four different pastas to sample a number of his treats. The tuna or calamari carpaccio are both magnificent... in fact order a mix of both. Yum! I asked him to make me clams in garlic and olive oil pasta and he returned with a treat that had me wishing for more. The seafood in red sauce will have you asking for more bread to get every last morsel of sauce off of the plate. I haven't even gotten into the desserts, which are very good.. but, if I haven't convinced you to journey to this restaurant, you probably would like the desserts. This is a food lovers restaurant, where the chef loves to make you happy. The only suggestion that I have is for him to have a better wine list and bar... but the bar is more than adequate to compliment the food. You are missing a real treat if you don't try this place.More
