Eat here! Authentic and excellent! I had the sampler plate and loved it. Staff is friendly, drinks are cold and food is good.

We had the sancocho which was really good as part of the Panamanian sampler. The food was pretty good. Nothing special with the service. All in all decent and I'd come back. I'm glad I tried local food.

My husband & I wanted to try a local spot and found El Trapiche on Tripadvisor. We knew we must have chosen the right spot when we mentioned it to our hotel + cab drivers and they all agreed. El Trapiche is outside the Albrook Mall (around some other restaurants like Applebees or Hooters) but don't let it disguise you!... More

What a blessing that this great little restaurant was walking distance from our hotel. We stopped in for breakfast and had a truly delicious meal. Be careful, very little English is spoken here so brush up on your Spanish and enjoy the authentic food and culture. They serve the most amazing fry bread!!

I bought the sampler platter and enjoyed being able to taste so many different items. My favorites were the sancocho and liquid tamales.

Ate at this place twice and really really liked their "pork hojaldre" sandwich. Also tried the octopus cerviche. I both each time I went there. If you want authentic Panamanian food, this place is a place for you to go to. I was told that the one in the main part of the city is much better then the one... More

We came here on the suggestion of a local and were not disappointed, we had the Fiesta Panamena a little taste of all things panamian and the surf and turf. Both were delicious. This restaurant has been around since 1983 and they seemed very popular. We noticed a woman who had ordered a salad. That did not look that good... More

I came here on my first night as the restaurant was right near my hotel. I was happy to be able to try an authentic Panamanian meal. We sat outside which was great. The food is pretty good, we ordered Fiesta panama so we got to sample a few different Panamanian dishes on one plate. I would definitely recommend coming... More

As a tour guide, I VERY often get folks who haven't had proper typical Panamanian food making El Trapiche quite the go-to place to sort them out. I'll speak for my own food, for one it IS authentic Panamanian without any strange "fusion" tweaks. Ingredient quality and preparation are good (if you're not having beer with the food, DO get... If you want to find out what the local dishes are like, this is the restaurant to go to. The food was good, and the prices very reasonable. The wait staff was efficient and food was delivered promptly. Although the waiters didn't smile a heck of a lot, I think that's more of a cultural trait. We had a great... More
