Our friend took us here as it is now one of the few places left that serve authentic Panamanian food. We tried their sample dish, similar to Tapas. Pulled Pork , Chicken rice, plantains and fried Yucca filled with meat. Filling, tasty and not too expensive.

El Trapiche has a lock on all Panamanian foodstuffs. It"s a modest place and the prices are reasonable. No plate costs more than $7.50 And the food is delicious. We have been there repeatedly, but the best plate on the menu is tamal en cazuela, which has chicken in a hearty corn chowder.

How authentic is it? This is where the locals eat! My wife and daughter and I stopped by Trapiche for lunch with a tour guide and what a pleasant surprise it was. I had the Fiesta Panamanian which is a sampler plate of Ropa Vieja, Plantains, Chicken Soup, Arroz con Pollo (or beef), Tamale Casserole, plus more. My wife had... More

We had both breakfast and dinner at Trapiche. The traditional Panama dishes are great at both meals. At breakfast, my wife's eggs were not cooked enough for her tastes but my breakfast was great. We will definitely visit Trapiche again!

Well, this was quite the experience. Located in the heart of El Cangrejo (I believe they have another location in or near Albrook Mall), they have a nice patio and indoor seating as well. The staff was friendly and attentive and the menu has some English as well, for those that don't speak any Español. I tried the Panamanian Fiesta,... More

Went here with some family in panama city. the food is great - typical Panamanian cuisine. We had the panama platter which had some samples of typical foods - all of which I'd had before but it was great and there was a lot of it. The Ropa Vieja and the Tamal de Olla were really good. They even have... More

This place came highly recommended and it was good, but it wasn't anything amazing. The food was delicious and authentic. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here as there are lots of good Panamanian restaurants in the city, but if you are in the neighbourhood definitely check it out.

Went here to try and experience some Panamanian food and atmosphere. The food was ok, nothing too special, as were the prices. All in all a nice place, but don't expect high cuisine!

Thank you for your review! As you correctly pointed out, we are not "haute cuisine." We are merely an outlet in which to sample the authentic taste of Panamanian folklore in the most casual and straightforward setting possible, just as someone would in our panamanian countryside. It is honest cooking, from family recipes my brother and sister, as well as... More
