Don't leave "old town Panama City" without lunch here. Very reasonable prices, a nice slice of Panamanian food. Friendly staff. Cafe to the right of Cathedral. Never feel rushed. Don't eat outside until cathedral reconstruction is complete.

Wondering around on a Monday night looking for dinner, we'd read about this place but thought it wouldn't be open! Turns out it was and we had the place completely to ourselves - everywhere seemed pretty quiet on a Monday in Casco Viejo! The restaurant has quite a Parisian feel to it, walls covered in paintings, lovely tables, exposed and... More

We dropped in for a lunch. Busy but not too full. You get a complete meal with salad an rice and a choice of Pork chicken or fish. Great meal. Very very reasonable. Wonderful ambiance. Great introduction to the old city.

Very gracious servers, food cooked pretty much in front of you. It was like coming into their home as part of the family. The food was great and there was plenty of it.

This small, quaint, lovely restaurant was absolutely the best - food wonderful, service outstanding and prices beyond reasonable. It is a must when you are visiting this area.

Rene Cafe is a gem for budget travelers but a disappointment for discerning travelers looking for fine dining. At $25, the 6 starters and the main dish including thin slices of breaded fish filet, chicken, and pork is an awful lot of food and the sequence of many different flavors keeps the palate entertained. The taste, however, was just ok.... More

Loved everything about this place. Friendly waiter, interesting decor, fabulous food at a great price. Had the lunchtime set menu. You choose your main ingredient from chicken, beef, pork or fish which is served with a large bowl of rice. Bread with garlic butter, a large bowl of salad and a surprise starter, in our case frittata. A small but... More

This was our first group meal on our first day going about Panama. It's a charming restaurant with a responsive and friendly staff. We chose our protein of the day and the staff did the rest. It WAS ALL GOOD! a nice way to start out 12 day trip in Panama. We were well taken care of and the food... More

Had lunch here on our last afternoon in Casco Viejo and what a great end to a great trip. We received a really warm welcome, beautiful fresh pineapple smoothie and loved the concept of the menu - choose your protein and they take care of the rest. Fab food, we couldn't decide which of the many courses we loved best,... More

Great stop for lunch. Pick a protein or veg and they will take care of the rest. Yummy quiche like starter with a large salad, followed by a large bowl of rice and my choice of fish followed by chocolate cake. It was good and may be the best deal in town for $10. Excellent service.
