Once the waiters decided who was going to serve me, it slowly progressed into a very memorable evening. I was in no hurry and once Alexander understood that he made dining alone more enjoyable. I love small portions of food. The 3 appetizers I had were to die for. I have never had scampi virtually melt in my mouth with a couple of bites. Absolutely amazing food.

The location is refined to walk into the staff are first class and the presentation of the setting is high quality, yet still warm and comfortable.
The details are always important and the service was attentive and well conducted.
The soups came promptly, adequately seasoned and well presented. Slice of toast on the side. Bread basket also a tasty mix of herb infused doughy delights and more plain whites and brown. Butter and or oil available!
The two mains of fish and lasagna were a little late in coming, not a detracting factor - although notable. The disappointment was apparent on the presentation of both dishes. No practical garnish. Like a light salad for the crunch to accompany the lasagna. Or a dew to accompany the fish to add a bit more depth to the taste and presentation.
The first mounthfuls of each were delicious, but the minimalist approach to the presentation left the taste being rather basic and none deserving of the rest of the restauranting experience. Details matter also on the plate!
A lovely a hugely redeeming factor were the staff and offering a slice of cake for the birthday girl in our group was very warming. It was a delightful tiramisu with a smooth lingering taste of coffee and cream.
There is definitely theatre in the eating experience, as the table next to us had a cheese dish served from a giant cheese... In our case we expected more from the food, but still enjoyed the service and the overall experience.

I am half italian and I had to go all the way to Kiev to eat one of the best pasta dishes in my life. Black taglionini with squid. Then I had a dish I will always remember: Octopus. It is very expensive for Ukrainin stadards (approx 30 euro with the side of asparagus) but for the best octopus I have ever eaten I think it's worth it.
Service and wine was also outstanding. Big Thank you.

For starter I had brushettas and really loved them. Then I had half a portion of piccolino pasta as the waiter said the big portion would be too large (about 550 grams) and two Italian beers (superb) and some bread. I am an active 80kg man and still felt hungry after.
The waiter brought two different invoices (kitchen and bar) and tried to explain why there were 2 bills. I paid the first one with bank card and was expecting that I had to put a code in and was hesitant/surprised to see a second invoice in the machine. I had worked extensively and traveled and thus my head was not thinking quickly. The waiter got angry and said something like ”I told you! It´s two bills!”
So yeah, one star definetely gone there and no tip.
The second is lost because in my opinion the prices are very high in comparison to places I have lived before in NYC, Finland, France.
The interior is lovely and the wine selection superb (but again very expensive even in comparison to Finland) and the firts waiter we had was great, so perhaps our last waiter just had a bad evening. I told him ”thank you, good night” to which he replied ”thank”.

Polite and very service oriented team only doubles impression of delicious cuisine.
And extra star goes to the general manager of the restaurant. She pays attention to each client.

Fabulous as always. Prompt professional service. Excellent food and good wine. What else the man or a woman wants ? It’s romantic and very cosy place with extensive Italian wines and genetic esoteric food choices. Definitely Top 10 in Kyiv.
Enjoy but always book in advance.

Piccolino is clearly one of our favorite places in kiev. A long-standing beacon of quality, service and attention. Alas, recently it seems that either covid or the disease of all good restaurants in kiev has gotten the better of it, with a slow but steady downtrend. Gone seems the excellent quality/price ratio, the chef’s imagination and flawless execution. One more chance will be given.

This is my favorite restaurant in Kiev, from the service to the food it is truly outstanding, I have the seafood spaghetti and it is just so delicious and this dish is made better then in the US or Italy my wife had the carbonara which was just delicious as well, we are now regulars to this restaurant, the restaurant is small but so nice just everything about this place is perfect, I have had Italian food all over the world and I am telling you this is the best anywhere, we live in the US and it out performs the many Italian restaurants. If you truly love Italian food you much go here and enjoy.

I have been visiting the Piccolino every time when returning to Kiev. They are living up to 100% what you can expect from Italian quality gastronomy over several years. A warm welcome, an excellent selection of Italian wines, homemade pasta...and a very attentive service guarantee a fine dining experience independent of whether this is for business or private.

When we came in there was a power outage so we were informed that we will have to wait about 40 minutes before we could order any hot foods. That did not bother us much as we were in no rush. We ordered starters from cold menu and everything was fantastic. Staff were very accommodating and to be honest the whole candle lit thing made the experience somehow more romantic and special. It is a little bit on a more expensive side but I think it was worth it regardless. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys Italian food (not pizza!)

We visited this restaurant with our Ukrainian colleagues. We sat out on the terrace as it was a warm night. The food and service was very good, I would definitely recommend the pasta!

A beautiful meal here, I am vegetarian and thoroughly enjoyed my meal, all the meals looked high quality. I eat out at home at some really nice restaurants every weekend and this was easily at the same high standard. The staff were lovely. I was on my own and sometimes when asking for a table for one the staff look a bit unimpressed however at Picollino they were very welcoming and friendly throughout my meal. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal which was very well presented and full of flavour. I really recommend this lovely restaurant.

A true gem at Gonchara Street.
We enjoyed two lovely dinners there - the last one a birthday celebration for my wife.
First of all - the classy touch from both the waiters and the wine sommelier, pairing wine with your food, gives the place another dimension.
Quality of food is also fantastic - I had the salmon carpaccio two days in a row - it was fresh and fabolous.
All in all a restaurant we will remember a lot and definlity revisit when we come back to Kiev the next time!
