Food was bland and a long wait even though it was empty. Nice view and location if you have the time to wait.
Very cozy place for breakfast! Tried curd fritters (sirniki), cappucino and kompot. Everything was very delicious, especially kompot. Service is good and the restaurant is very nice and has a good view outside.
My twin brother Stephen and I headed from Metro Bridge along the Dnieper River Promenade towards the Podil District, a bracing walk on a bitterly cold Wednesday morning and after visiting the stunning St Nicholas On The Water Church we were in need of a...coffee to warm us up and this cafe fitted the bill perfectly. Walking up to this cafe offers great views of the Dnieper River on their terrace but we were to cold to sit out here,we descended into the cafe ,a light and airy interior, great decor and furnishings including a cool looking serving bar and plenty of seating options, a very relaxing cafe indeed. We had a study of the menu and ordered a coffee each, coffee's were served in excellent condition, steaming hot, from the first sip you can tell they use quality ingredients in their coffee and take great pride in the coffee they serve. After we finished our coffee's we indicated we wanted to pay,no problem there as we were paying in cash ,a humourless waitress took our money and we waited for our change and waited and waited and waited ,she passed our table at least four times without blinking ,eventually after 10 minutes I asked were we receiving our change and a tray with our change was thrown on our table ,very amusing we thought as it was only about the equivalent of £2 but there was a principle here, dont think you can just keep the change to ensure a tip by " forgetting " to bring change ,as a rule I always tip staff especially so when I've enjoyed a pub, bar, restaurant or cafe I've visited and enjoyed as the staff as a rule work incredibly hard and put in some long shifts but I never tipped this young lady ,makes me think how many times she's done this and got away with it ,a shame really as it's a very cool cafe which I enjoyed ,my brother and I thought it hilarious before moving on and despite our wait for our money we really enjoyed our visit here . Kompot is easy to locate on Pochtovaja Square looking out onto the Dnieper River. Well worth checking out if your in the area but try giving the correct change .More
If you want a place to go for either coffee and a sweet or a good meal this should be on your agenda. The selection is broad, the quality is very good and the prices are very reasonable! The atmosphere is very casual so it...is a good place to relax, or sit and enjoy a conversation The only possible negative is that the service is a little slow however life is too short and fast anyway so just relax and enjoyMore
This is a wonderful restaurant with a beautiful location right on the Dnepr River. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. The food was very tasty and reminded me of when my mother-in-law cooks for meyou bringing food was just like my mother-in-law...cooksMore
Having dashed around Kiev/Kyiv we needed a brew, a couple of coffees and and cakes, the cherry strudel and nepoleon cake both great. Nice view and service.
Lovely place to sit by the river. Great tea, cake was a bit sweet but I enjoyed sitting there and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area. English menu available but isnt full of tourists.
I am from Lithuania, in my mid 30s and I have no nostalgy for any of food that's served there. Nor it's exotic to me. Serving is boring, lacking fresh herbs, sauces, vegetables. Mashes potatoes were full of lumps. Similar dishes are served in Lithianian...schools and that's nothing to brag about. Though service was great, and Kompot is suited in a beautiful location. Nice place to grab a beer and chill for a while, before moving on to good restaurant (there are plenty of those in Kiev)More
We tried a lot of dishes and none of them were that great. Varenyky, stroganoff, sandwich, etc. Service was good, though.
- Great location, but terrible service. We had been sitting on the summer terrace and waiting for the menu for about 15 minutes. The waiter didn't come, so we went for the menu ourselves. The waiter didn’t come for the order to be taken, so we went to order to the bar ourselves. We also asked to replace one product (not to add honey to the cheesecake, because one person is allergic to honey). As a result, the cheesecake was brought with honey and were not even offered to replace the dish. Cocoa served in a breakfast set is tasteless. There are no blankets on the terrace.More
The place is oriented for one day tourists, the service is not just slow it’s not exist. I have been sitting in a half empty cafe, waiting to make my order for 30!!! minutes. In a few steps were standing 5 people of the staff...chatting and completely ignoring my table. Just when they saw groups of guests in 3 or 4 they where somehow reacting. I had nothing to do but to leave with a spoiled mood(More
I've red that the staff was not good, but in our case it was amazing. Dont stop yourself and order all four kompot. All tastes very differently and amazingly. We ate golubcy. 10/10. It disappeared in my mouth. Place has its own cozy environment.
After reading the other reviews and experiencing the other Kompot at Olympiska..... Don't get your hopes up. A coffee, a beer they can muster but never in a hurry. Take your time, enjoy the view on the Dnjepr and don't, no really don't order anything...else than coffee or beer. It's only a small step up from the McDonald's across the square.More
This restaurant became a favourite place of mine on my several visits to Kiev. It had the winning formula for me, stunning views of the Dnieper River, good food and a nice atmosphere with traditional French music on a constant loop. The music can be...quite intrusive to some but I personally liked it. I found the service to be attentive at all times. The menu was vast and varied and reasonably priced, it got busy at certain times but it was never a problem finding a table. It is a restaurant that i will be returning to when i am next in the city.More
