I have frequented this place rich with history quite often since it was relaunched several years ago. It used to be the hottest spot in Belgrade decades ago during the socialist Yugoslavia under the legendary master Ivo. Actors, artists, politicians, who is who of Belgrade...used to pack the place. Now it is a very pleasant upscale restaurant offering very solid cuisine (not haute, but certainly innovative by Belgrade standards) with nice twists on the local Balkan food. Ingredients like the lamb, veggies, etc. are very well sourced, fresh and tasty. I love the pleasantly hushed atmosphere under the expansive glass dome, where even in winter one feels like sitting outside. My only disappointment came very recently when the service was quite neglectful. Although the place was not full, it took the waiter 15min to arrive, and then there was struggle to summon him again when needed (among other things to remind him of bringing something that we had already asked for).More

The restaurant has great location and history. Food is excellent. I did not like waiter's attitude. Too familial. When I paid, he was asking me: oh, there's no tip? I would have left the tip, bit hate being blackmailed into it...

After two delightful work lunch experiences in this restaurant, I decided to take my husband our for dinner there on Saturday evening. Booking the place over email was super easy; I told them I wanted a seat with good light and ventilation; and I was...delighted to find out that they actually had reserved two different spots for me, so I could choose to be either at the edge of the garden or at the center. Of course we choose the center. On a summer evening, with all the doors of the glass dome open, the place was magical and felt as if it was smoke free! Bliss! Sergei, our waiter for the evening was sweet, well-informed, attentive, and was making the right recommendations with wine and food. The usher was kind enough to call us a taxi, and every staff we met was very pleasant and in great spirits. You can't go wrong with any of their food items. Try their lamb pie for starters and krempita for dessert. Everything in between is just as good!More

Please do not go to the Klub Knjizevika. The food is desperately bad (and very overpriced), the service slow and unresponsive, the live music lacking any cultural relevance to Belgrade/Serbia, and the entire place so noisy that you and your guests will struggle to have...any kind of reasonable conversation. This is written from the perspective of having visited and eaten at the Klub for several decades, and with a clear memory of when it was good. It is now a parody of itself, despite a great location and potentially lovely ambience - although when we there, the garden room was like a furnace, with no attempt made to ventilate the space. The dishes we ordered were all exceptionally dry and lacking flavour, with the entrees unimaginative and likely to be significantly bettered by any Belgrade café serving local cuisine. Pork neck and duck breast are naturally flavoursome and juicy – but not at the Klub Knjizevika; we mentioned all this to the waiter, who seemed indifferent to our concerns, and certainly unprepared to escalate the situation to the maître d’ or chef. Drinks were similarly tragic; poor imported beers in bottles so tiny they could have been from airline catering, rakija lacking fruitiness and depth, and even mineral water far from adequately chilled. To top all this, the service was almost comically bad; silly and pretentious opinions were offered about aspects of the food and drinks menu - but alongside this was a basic inability to take our order and serve the food properly, or to clear the table when appropriate. To repeat, do not make the mistake of going to the Klub Knjizevika and having a disappointing time there; this place does not deserve your custom.More

Exceptional quality of food! Really exceptional.. don't spend so much time writing reviews, but this place really has to be properly highlighted, as there may be one in the million... Chapeux bas pour Le Chef! Great atmosphere, great place, great service and, once again, fantastic...food... At least what i've tried, see the snapshot below...More

So, food was OK at best, but portions were very small. Extremely overpriced, at least double compared to normal prices in Belgrade. Service was the worst part. The waitress (who is anyways not good at her job), at the end of the evening, after I...asked if there is possibility to tip her using credit card, told me that they dont have option but asked me to transfer money to her acount via mBanking... Unbelievable, that was a first for me!More

This place, with its classic atmosphere, impeccable service and fantastic food is our favourite restaurant in Belgrade now. We actually even went there twice in 4 days of our stay in town. Stepping into the restaurant from the street immediately puts you into the calm...classic atmosphere and relaxes you. The dining area makes you think of early 20th century modernism. And a lot of traditional local dishes on the menu and the finest Serbian wines at the reasonable prices make you think you went to the restaurant paradise. Visiting the place can easily be the only reason to come to Belgrade!More

We went for a dinner on a warm summer evening in August. The garden is beatiful, stylish, tables with white crisp cloths and napkins and waiting staff nice and helpful. There was lovely live music in the background. And the food… Serbian base with modern...and innovative twists. Veal chops and mangulica that we had were superb and desserts were divine. Wine list is good too. Expensive, but well worth the money. This place is a must when you are in Belgrade.More

I went there as a part of an academic celebration (25 people), waiters were extremely swift and knowledgeable of the offer, both wine and food-wise, treating every guest with due diligence. The selection of appetizers and cold cuts was abundant, steak tartare with homemade butter...left special impressions. As the main course, I had a beefsteak in green pepper sauce which was prepared exactly according to my requirements and very appealing. Among the best experiences in Belgrade, highly recommended!!!More

Step back in time to an era of exquisite fine dining with Parisian vibes. This beautiful restaurant exudes class and is tucked away in a quiet tree-lined street in the heart of Belgrade. The restaurant is housed in a beautiful home built in the mid-19th...century, with stunning decor and a wonderful ambience. Exceptional service, you are greeted with smiles and positive energy from the entire team. Our waiter was an absolute delight and understood our dining preferences instantly, slow and steady to enjoy our lazy long lunch. A menu that tempts your tastebuds with bursts of flavours as the chef takes you on a journey, traditional Serbian cuisine, all ingredients sourced locally. We dined our way through the afternoon and were incredibly impressed by each and every choice. We can't wait to return and continue the journey and sample more of the delicious dishes. Well-selected wine choices complement the cuisine. The menu is very extensive, with a wonderful variety of local wines to satisfy everyone's palate. All your favourite cocktails are available too. We absolutely loved our dining experience, especially outdoors under the leafy glass-enclosed atrium. We cannot recommend Klub književnika highly enough.More

It would not be an exaggeration to say this was perhaps my most enjoyable evening spent dining at a fine restaurant. Impeccable service, delicious food (the warm lamb pie starter is one of the best tastes I’ve ever experienced), beautiful ambiance with French music to...complement a lively conversation, and fortifying plum and blueberry rakija. I am certain to return next time I come to Belgrade. Read no further and just trust me.More
