Great small dishes,

Great small dishes, very tasty and they don’t stop coming when you take the all you can eat menu. We asked Johanna our waitress who was great, to stop bringing them out probably after the 20th dish. All of them nicely decorated and served in different dishes. The price for 2 meals, 4 beers and a large bottle of water was under 50€.

Delicious food and amazing staff

One of the best meals I had. We had "unlimited dinner". As the name suggests courses are unlimited and each is few bites small, and what is more, the waiter chooses them for you, so each course is a surprise. Our waiter Zarija made our dining extra special by presenting each course in a most interesting manner. He was extrimely nice and friendly(we shared more than few laughs), and even explained the idea behind interior design and the whole concept of the restaurant. Not to exclude all the other staff, that were really polite.

The best place in Belgrade

The best place in Belgrade !!! We spent one evening and then our new year’s evening at ambar. Everything is perfect the food the place the drinks and the waiters ! We had so much fun for new year. We were a big group of 9 French people, we felt as we were at home, thanks to the waiters who made the best new year that we could have hoped for. The food is also amazing from A to Z. Everything is really really good. You can not go in Belgrade without visiting this place !

Disappointing

My expectations for this restaurant were pretty high. Based on my research it looked like a modern high-end restaurant that is pretty creative. Perhaps I shouldn’t have had such high expectations but this is a fairly average restaurant, regardless. My wife and I ordered their “Train” option of unlimited tapas. We had about 3 rounds of tapas. The portions were a lot larger than I had anticipated so I’m not sure anyone ever gets through the whole list. A few were pretty good but most were average or marginal. After being served two different versions of chicken tenders, we gave up and threw in the towel. Service was average at best. We waited for about 15-20 minutes before any food came out. After that it came out pretty quickly. No one checked on us until the end when we asked for the bill. Ambience was horrible. We arrived around 7:00 and sat outside. Disco music was playing in the background. (Pretty typical of the restaurants in this area, none of which looked very good.) Most people were drinking coffee or tea. No one was eating. You definitely didn’t get the feeling that you were in a ice restaurant. At 7:30 a wedding reception started next door and the music was so ungodly loud and horrible (Donna Summer, more disco) that you couldn’t talk. I felt like we were eating next door to a strip club. Overall, a very average meal and a bad experience. If you visit, I recommend ordering a la crate and crossing your fingers that there isn’t a wedding reception nearby.

Child menu for adults

One of the worst dining experiences ever. I took friends to dinner to Ambar, and we were unpleasantly surprised to find that food portions equals the child menu - the waiter told us that at least three menus equals one “normal” menu. We ordered three menus per person, and everybody stayed hungry, shocked, and not happy with the food.

Excellent domestic food prepared on modern way. I suggest you take unlimited menu where you can try so many dishes for great price. I've tried meals by recomandation of the chef and every meal was better than the one before. Definitly try their ambar salad 👌 This really is one of the best restaurants I've visited. Great food!!!

This was dinner with business partners and we had a great time together. The waiter helped us to make a great selection of small plates and it was delicious. At the end he brought us pork ribs and few other meet dishes, it was almost like deserts to us. Cheers!!!

Bad experience, not recommended

Bad experience. It was recommended to us by a friend who told us to try the "train", where they would bring us everything on the menu at a fixed price and if there was anything we liked we could order again. The food they brought was not what was advertised to us and they did not bring everything on the menu as promised. At the end, when they supposedly brought everything, we asked "where is the octopus?? that we read on some reviews" and the waiter then said "ok I will bring octopus". Why should I have to ask for the octopus? Why did they not bring all the items on the menu as promised? We had paid for that. So it was basically a very expensive scam with hidden costs. And above that the food was just basic and nothing exciting. Not recommended, sorry. Next time you should respect all customers.

Amazing experience

Restaurant is located on Sava river with great view. We have busy schedule, and only 1 hour for Ambar. Milos the Great (6ft8 tall waiter) served seven delicious dishes (my favorite cevapi, pork and lamb) and local wine. Next time we will go for unlimited menu, bottle od Serbian wine and more free time. Best wishes to Milos's asistent Jovana and Milos

Good food, Helpful staff.

Had dinner with friends. Their portions are small compared to other similar restaurants, but the food was tasty. Their pulled pork is excellent. Do not expect a big choice of sea food in their menu, although the restaurant is on the river front. They have an option to order everything (something like that) from their menu for a price of 3000 Dinars or so (did'nt opt for that)

Best restaurant experience

I went to Ambar for dinner on a busy Saturday night without a reservation and the hostess was quick to find me and my date a table. The atmosphere was phenomenal and our server, Drayan, was very hospitable and provided amazing recommendations. I had the lamb, Serbian sausages (I forgot the name) and a few spreads (try the ajvar, it's delicious!, pork pate and spicy cheese spread were also very good). My date told me she's never had such a nice dining experience before, so if you want to impress someone, don't think twice and check this place out. I was a little concerned about the dress code as I was in Beograd for only one day and only had casual clothes (jeans, sneakers and a hoodie). People there dress really nice but there was an interesting mix of people so I ended up feeling comfortable. If I find myself in Beograd i will definitely return.

Wonderful service and food

I had a wonderful solo experience at Ambar. The food was delicious, and my server, Yovana, was exceptional! I asked if she could bring a sampling of the menu and she brought a wide variety of delightful Balkan dishes. It was more food than I could eat, and the experience was made better by Yovana’s suggestions and exemplary service. I will return and am very satisfied with this establishment.

Go for Unlimited Lunch

I found the restaurant on the internet and when I saw a menu for Unlimited Lunch I put it on the top of my list when visit Belgrade. It was the best desition regarding the food. It's really worth of visit. I enjoyed with my wife in Unlimited Lunch for 3 hours in the restaurant and stopped eating after 25 dishes. Well, it takes 3 hours mostly because of the too-long pauses between the dishes so next time I will ask to serve more quickly next dish. My wife wasn't planning to have Unlimited Lunch menu but the restaurant policy is that Unlimited Lunch can be ordered only if everyone at the table will order the Unlimited Lunch. Otherwise, it's not possible. But at the end wife didn't regret the decision.

Stunning food, amazing service, wonderful location

Everything about our lunch at Ambar put it in the top 10 dining experiences I have ever had. We took the option of the taster menu, with which you try most things on the menu in smaller portions- although the portions are very generous and they bring you repeats of any dish you particularly like. Both members of staff who dealt with us could not have been more charismatic or knowledgable and the location , on the Sava river, close to where it meets the Danube was so relaxing an beautiful. I cannot recommend Ambar enough. I feel like some of the negative reviews here may be from rival restaurants in this competitive location. The wine selection is wide and we had a very delicious local white wine. I have not tried the other restaurants on the riverside but they would need to be good to come closer to Ambar.

Wonderful restaurant, interesting and delicious food.. recommend for their deal food - amazing journey of the high level chef vision - small dishes, you can taste from all the menu and you can order without stop ! But the most incredible thing that because of him we will go back there, is the waiter Alexander. High level man with wonderful attitude, understanding, extensive knowledge of the menu.. he just done everything to make our feeling perfect. Thank you dear Alexander 🙏
