Biutiful By The Lake is located on the shore of Herastrau Lake and is designed as a hanging garden over the water, which harmonizes with its surroundings. It has 250 sitting spots and plenty of more space around the bar. Project signed by designers Nadia & Mihai Popescu, Biutiful By The Lake was awarded by Restaurant & Bar Design Awards, in 2015, at UK & International Category, the only competition in the world dedicated to the design of spaces, exclusively for restaurants and bars.

Could have been easily 3 star rating instead of 4. It depends on your aim and expectations.
If you want to get there without the walking part and view ... It requires walking ... So forget about high heels at night. But its nice to be there after a stroll.
Very good view, great location. Just book a table in advance to be on the lake.
Good vibe, good music for a cool night with friends. Can be loud during weekend when its packed.
Nice decor.
The cocktails are fine (nothing too complicated or sophisticated). This with finger food should be perfect. So for spending the evening with good music , simple food , maybe wine or light drinks thats perfect.
When it comes to being a restaurant thats another story. Dishes are cooked and prepared to the right degree, but dishes are simple, like you have seen and tasted a thousand times, for a lot less money.
Casual food for a high price.
But its a nice place ...

One of the most beautiful terraces / lounges in Bucharest. Located on the lake, in Herastrau, it has a very beautiful view and is excellently designed in terms of interior decoration. Very good food and cocktails. The music is a bit loud, but it's part of the lounge experience. Friendly and attentive staff. The only downside is the difficulty of booking a meal, especially if you do not fit in the proposed maximum of 2 hours.

Very good food and an incredible location at a very high price point. This place is worth a destination visit on a sunny, warm afternoon just for its amazing decor and beautiful waterfront location. We were somewhat tired of the standard street side tables and happened upon this place. It's somewhat of an oasis in the park. The food was quite good and the drinks fancy and delicious. A really fun place to visit if money is not a big concern. We spent about 150 lei per person for a modest lunch with one drink each.

We went for dinner and we had one of the most disappointing experience. While the ambiance was great...the food was really bad. We started with humus which was ok, then for dinner we had adana kebab, a caesar salad, and an "argentinian sirloin steak" which was suggested by the server. most likely was suggested because was the most expensive item in the menu and the worst one. The meat was tough like a shoe sole and my husband tasted only and left it in the plate as was not edible. When we've told the server he took the plate and he said "Why you didn't say anything as i could have tell the chef to cook another one"...we explained him that the dish is still almost intact as the beef was chewy and full of rubber but he didn't said anything anymore and we paid it anyway 135 Ron ($30 USD) and was left in the plate.
We will never go back for sure

Even though this location has a great view over the lake and the interior design it’s pretty cool, this place has one of the worst menus that I’ve ever seen at very spicy prices and very poor, poor quality of food.
I tried the seafood salad which tasted very bad, had no other dressing than the half lemon that I squeezed over the salad.. and was made after a very economical receipt.. the worst is that the next day I had a small food intoxication manifested on my skin.. the stuff is not the friendliest and the seats and tables are quite uncomfortable, also they are keeping their “best tables” reserved for “celebrities” even though you call and reserve the table 2 weeks prior, which is a lot for a restaurant in Bucharest.. My advice is to lower your expectation when coming here!

Grab a drink and skip the food. Extremely overpriced food that lacks taste. I would recommend who ever created that menu, to remove that pepper dish and goat chesse appetizer and throw it directly in the garbage. The steak was even more disappointing and highly advise no one orders it. Had better quality food at local neighborhood places.

It was one of my favorites in Bucharest and used to come here every time i visit, but lately the reservation system/person is so bad.
Year 2019
I'll start with last year, i wanted to invite a large number of friends visiting Romania (15 people), so i called two weeks ahead of time (spoke in Romanian language) and they told me that i need to send an official email because they dont take such a large number of reservations over the phone, so i directly sent an email, but guess what "NO REPLY". Anyway, i call after two days and i spoke in "English" and they did accept my reservation which kind of annoyed me. Overall service and food was good.
Year 2020
This year 2020 (3rd week of september), i decided to give the restaurant another chance as i said it was my all time favorite, we call one day to reserve for lunch next day, we were told to call starting 12:00pm the next day, which we did and we were told that its fully booked. after a couple of days, we had a business dinner and we thought we'd give it one last try for the sake of old days, we called two days before dinner and nobody picked up, so we booked through IALOC app and specified that we need a table next to the lake for 4 people. when we got there, the table was booked completed on the opposite side, right next to the sub-woofer!! we told the waiter that we specified we need a table there and their reply was "unfortunately, those tables are for bigger groups", we were 4 people and i personally went to check and majority of those tables were with 4 seats. again service and food was good but throughout the night, we couldnt hear each other well because of subwoofer and i personally kept on monitoring those empty 4 seat tables which were empty (2 tables at minimum) through the whole night, from 8:00pm to 11:00pm.
Unfortunately, the reservation system or criteria which they use, is very bad, and as i said i used to visit it everytime i came to Romania and recommend it to everyone visiting Bucharest but never again.

This place is complete amature hour. Laughibly surly, apathetic service, mediocre (at best), overpriced food and suddenly blasting DJ music designed soley to amuse the obviously bored waiter staff. Yes, it looks pretty and is wonderfully located right on the lake at Herastrau Park. But it's straight downhill from there. Attitude for days and not even good food. We are easy going, well heeled travelers who have eaten in fine restaurants all over the world. We adapt to local behavior and do not have undue expectations. Romanians are normally very kind and gracious. So honestly, I have no idea where the propriator of this restaurant has found his staff. This was the first time in my life that I have left no gratituity for wait staff. There are plenty of other options in the immediate vacinity with lovely lake views. Avoid this joint at all costs.

Worst customer service experience EVER!
Failed attempt to have lunch @ Biutiful by the Lake ( terrace in Herastrau Park) …
The “ highly trained “ hostess refused our request to have lunch due to the fact that my husband ( performance athlete ) was dressed in his sports gear! …
Not only is this unacceptable and unprofessional on so many levels but also the way she turned customers away amidst pandemics, as if they were never closed and money is not needed, is just mind blowing!
Not to mention that this so called “ host “ was dressed herself sporty wearing sneakers and jeans!
Clearly a place to avoid!
After all you are just a terrace in the park….your required “ dress code “ is none sense!
You lost valuable paying customers!
….Also as a word of advice…from a world traveler….people with money will always go for sporty casual looks ….the once who dress to impress are the ones who will be spending peanuts!
Avoid this place at all costs and save yourself the rudeness of their highly skilled staff

DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Tourists should be aware that the dress code is required at any time of the day, especially if the host doesn't like your style!
I had an awful experience at this restaurant. My husband and I didn't manage to eat there, as a rude hostess refused us because we apparently didn't have the correct dress code.
We were tourists in Bucharest and went for a walk to Herastrau Park, which surrounds the lake. After two hours of walking, we decided to stop for lunch in one of the restaurants around the lake. The hostess gave us a look like were homeless people. I had shorts and a top with sleeves. She scanned me from top to bottom and back, which made me really uncomfortable, and said there was a dress code. There was no notice on the website or at the restaurant that there is a dress code needed.
Both my husband and I are passionate about food. I bring with me 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, while my husband has honed his culinary skills as a chef for over a decade.
I was utterly taken aback by the hostess's insistence on a dress code, a practice I hadn't encountered in the past decade, especially in an empty restaurant in a park setting.
We went to the restaurant just opposite this place and saw a lady with ripped jeans and a T-shirt with Mickey Mouse on it who could get a table without any issues. That leaves me wondering if the hostess decides who can come to eat or not just based on her feelings or whether she likes someone's clothes.
However, after reading the review, we discovered that this lady wasn't rude to us, and the food could have been better. We were happy to spend our money elsewhere because, clearly, this restaurant is choosing its customers based on some strange criteria.
For non-local people. In Bucharest, it is still normal to require a dress code to be able to eat at restaurants around Herastrau, so please be aware when you go for a walk to the park, you might need to be lucky enough to get food around there.
Dear manager, We have visited many Michelin stars, Rossets stars, and fine-dining restaurants in our lives in many countries, and I have to say you are the only one stuck on the dress code for no reason. You could make the criteria visible on your website and at the restaurant. This habit of dress code for lunch is outdated and takes business from you.

I called for a reservation on August 5th for Friday, August 14. They told me they can't take reservations that early and that I should call on August 12, starting with 12 PM. Called again on the 11, as a precaution, they told me the same. Called on August 12 starting with 12 PM, my call was rejected for 2 hours until someone picked up and told me there are no tables left. I called ahead! Way ahead. If you're so afraid that someone will bail on the reservation if made ahead, then call to confirm, or ask the customer to confirm by a certain date, or, if you're so popular, you'll have no problem filling in the spot in no time. Most likely your staff is prioritizing requests from personal friends, so nobody else can get a legitimate reservation. I love your restaurant, but this way of handling things is ridiculous.

I needed to review this restaurant as my experience was in total contrast to a review posted by someone who was there around the same time as me.
We were a large group in Bucharest for a wedding. We had a friendly welcome and excellent service throughout. My food was wonderful and all the food was well presented. There were no complaints from anyone in our party.
We were sat right in front of the DJ and yes the music got a little loud, but it was all part of the vibe. My 87 year old father enjoyed it, although it did get a bit much for him toward the end.
All in all a wonderful time was had by all.

Loved the lunch at Biutiful. The lake view from the restaurant is amazing & refreshing! The service is very good, servers speak good English & very helpful. The food was delicious, we had sea bass, Adana Kebab, Mitzu(dessert), enjoyed all dishes. The decoration is very nice & vibe of the restaurant is very lively, plenty of good sittings. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Low quality food . Served cold and very late . Waiting so long for a drink . Bad attitude . Good view … Nuba is just across 😅. At 2 o’clock they said stop dancing were closing . It was a problem because if you want to move to another location everything is full and you need reservation ( that was on Saturday night )
Bad bad experience . Mean bodyguard : he said that we are lucky that he didnt kicked us out … 😅. He was funny , thou .

A very pleasant restaurant with a wonderful location. Also the staff were nice and helpful. But sadly enough the food does not at all equal the price level. Innovative dishes, and most of it was quite okay if I had ordered it at a fast food outlet for a third (or less) of the price. However, the french fries were really bad, soggy and unappetizing.
It is a nice place to spend some time, but stick to the beverages, and eat somewhere else.
Wine list is good, but even the cheapest wines are expensive. But the wine we chose was worth its price, and tasted good. Sorry to say that that does not go for the food.
It is obvious that focus is on interior decoration (very nice!) and the location (top!). But really, you get better french fries at any hamburger restaurant!
