The restaurant is by the lake, in the middle of Cismigiu Gardens, a beautiful historical place in Bucharest. I have no complaint about the service or ambiance... However, such a traditional venue should probably shy away from vegetal whipped cream and opt for top ingredients....It's a shame that all cooked food is so delicious when the desert variety is somewhat limited.More

Every Bucharest-raised person remembers the Monte Carlo Restaurant. It is a very well known spot right on the lake side, which still has amazing views if one sits inside. Unfortunatelly, likely to shelter guests from moskitoes, the terrace has been been isolated from the water,...loosing some of its charm. Howeevr, food is still very good and I did enjoy my visit.More

Greeting customers is definitely not common among the staff of this restaurant! I visited this place with my mother and would have liked to have the nice view of the lake from the window because the terrace was full but after seating we were told...by one of the waiters "that is reserved" although there was nothing mentioned on it and there were other tables free but he did not have the courtesy to offer us another oneand just continued with "only (the ones) up"; at this point I wanted to leave but stayed because my mother insisted and told me it used to be a nice place when she was young. After choosing another table by our own we waited about 15 minutes for a waiter to come although all of them could see us waiting for the menu but pretended to be busy because they saw me annoyed; again, without any greeting we were handed over the menu by Gabi, whose name I have to get from him, he did not introduce himself. Tried to order sarmale because I love the dish but got a blunt reply "we don't have" without a further recommendation, just a straight bored face so I order whatever came to my mind. While waiting for the food I have asked once if it is going to take longer and Gabi replied while walking and without even making eye contact. Food was not great and the attitude of the waiters was more than dissappointing. I would not reccommend this place nor will I ever go there again!More

Every now and then when I stroll through Cișmigiu Park, I decide short notice to eat there. Monte Carlo is not top of the class but has never disappointed me. Can be recommended not only for its food but also for its atmosphere by the...water.More

An old school restaurant in the best sense of the word. Impeccable service, courtesy, speed and quality. There was no need for a long wait to serve food, drinks were served quickly and correctly. A place where you can have a cold beer in the...summer, no matter how hot it is outside.More

No omelettes available for lunch so had chicken schnitzel but chips were awful, greasy and not cooked through. When asked if we wanted bread said no but it came anyway and was on the bill so we complained and the bill was altered. Not impressed.

The place is old and they are still having some of the old staff working here. The food is tasty and the prices are average.

Food was OK, portion sizes were good. Disappointed that soup was ‘finished’ at 6.30pm. Didn’t have the beer that I wanted from the menu so had to settle for an inferior one (in my opinion). Nice seat by the window overlooking the boating lake. Not...cheap by Romanian standards, but good value by English ones.More

Get a table next to the windows so you can see the nice water, unless it's winter. The food itself is fine.

In the middle of Cismigiu Garden, nice location, terrace, views on the lake. Great choice of traditional Romanian food. Friendly, old-fashioned service. Slightly expensive.

Hidden restaurant jem in Cismigiu Park overlooking lake. Modern Bucharest is reducing its establishments with quality traditional Romanian cuisine - opting for burgers and other modern dishes. Ambiance is a bit archaic. Overview of Cismigiu lake is not spectacular, but soothing for those seeking a...lake view. Food is delicious. Service is excellent. Prices are very reasonable.More

Good range of local dishes and European selections, good prompt service, English spoken, limited choice if wine by the glass. This is a lovely setting overlooking one if the lakes, good spot for lunch I had a tasty vegetable soup, and satisfying salad. I would...recommend the restaurant fir a middle price range meal, lunch or dinner.More

Very nice place on the island in the lake and in a middle of a nice park. The service was fast, the food served tasty in a good quantity and for a fair price. I especially enjoyed spike fish, which is not very often served...in resstaurants. A menu card was very rich, so it was difficult to decide what to order - I hope all other dishes taste the same as those we ordered.More
