We had a fantastic dinner here. The food was fresh with local flavors, and our server, George, was very attentive despite also managing another large party. There were traditional musicians the night we were there, but I have to say the best part was the...wine produced by the owner's vineyard. It was here we were introduced to the Feteasca Neagra grape, native to Romania. Go ahead and get the bottle...it's worth it! This restaurant is a definite must for first-time visitors to Bucharest.More

Last time I was in this restaurant it was in 2018. It was a good experience then. This time it was a group of foreigners that wanted to experience traditional food and music. The appetizers came in very small portions and, with the exception of...the meatballs (chiftele), had nothing to do with the original dishes. The cheese platter - very expensive, that the waiter insisted we got, was just a couple of feta slices and a bit of fermented cheese. The house wine was quite bad. He main dishes were ok. The “band” is a couple of musicians that were ok, nothing special, and were not moving until we gave them some money. All in all, too expensive and not worth it. Cringy experience. I will never come back again.More

Food is good but not great. Duck is tender but not so tasty, starters are just ok, absolutely nothing special. The bad thing about all this is that there are 2 waiters - apparently ok guy and a very impolite girl. The girl never responded...to any of our calls and was never in time despite the thing that there were not so many full tables. The guy was ok but added 15% service to the bill despite the thing that I asked for 10%. When I asked him if this is 10% he said yes - never again! THERE ARE SO MANY BETTER PLACES AROUNDMore

If you stay in Bucharest for a while, you’ll inevitably hear about Lacrimi și Sfinți. At times controversial because of it’s famous poet-chef, this resto is quite a culinary gem! I’ve never thought salads could be so yummy and inventive, while also totally work as...a main dish, as I always get full from the ones with cheese. Their soups are also amazing! But over the years, “Brigada de Moravuri” or “The Vice Squad”, has become my go-to dish: chewy, salty, fatty, all part of the experience of eating testes and sweetbreads, exquisitly cooked with earthy mushrooms, textured by the different wine-cooked-meats, with stringent capers. If you’re not familiar but you’re visting Bucharest, give a try! You’ll love it! And you’ll become part of the local culture:)More

Pleasant restaurant that is sadly starting to show its age in some respects. My menu was heavily stained and falling to pieces, while that of one of my companions was completely missing the middle pages setting out the main courses. Also, we couldn't get the...WiFi to work. The dishes on that menu are quite bold with several offerings you won't find in many places - the "Vice Squad" option is definitely not for the faint-hearted! Service was attentive and the soups were excellent, as was the fish and the schnitzel. . Sadly, my lamb chops were overcooked to the point of being borderline inedible.More

This small restaurant has excellent food so we came back after the first time. You will not go wrong. The plates have very generous portions. If you are in Bucharest you must not miss this restaurant.

A hidden gem in the rather touristic area of the old town, The restaurant is rather unpretentious but scores with the food. The menu sports lots of classical Romanian dishes but many with a little twist distinguish them from the classical touristic restaurants. The service...is very attentive and friendly. You have a live band playing (pan-flute, accordion and stringbass) from time to time playing very nicely, conversation still possible. Nice place aside from the tourist-traps in the old townMore

My expectation was high based on what I read about this location, and what I knew about the owner and his hobby , so kitchen. The place decoration is close to kitch , trying to sell an idea of authentic. This didn’t work with the...service and the food. Service nice, without attention to details. Together with my friend we got some tripe soup. We asked also for some drinks to have with the soup. The soup came without drinks and without options to add cream or oil inside. Generally the food was correct , portions Ok , not very big , not small. Nothing special on this restaurant kitchen, nothing making the place special. Personally, I believe my expectation was too high and this impacted the experience. Overall - too pricey compared with the offer .More

Located in the Old Town section of Bucharest, I visited this restaurant on the recommendation of several guide books and my hotel. It’s a bit discrete but not hidden; Tokyo this is not! The first thing that impressed me was the simple rusticity of the...interior. The waitress then explained that most of the main dining room was recreated with recycled wood, windows, chairs, doors, etc. from various areas of the country. Very cool. My first visit set the stage for the other two. Clearly proud of the Romanian culinary tradition, the manager suggested tripe soup for an appetizer and sarmale for an entrée. Both of these were absolutely fantastic and were followed by a slice of apple/quince/rasisin pie. A bottle of Romanian red wine kept me company throughout. I explored the menu in depth during my next two visits with trout, simple sausages, duck, fish soup, and even macaroni and cheese proving to be standout dishes. Service was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. The price was as expected a little higher than the countryside but very reasonable for Bucharest, and downright cheap in the context of big city international travel. Even more impressive was that the head chef was present during two of my three visits. In summary, this was an excellent eatery that I would highly recommend to anyone coming to Romania. When Michelin makes their way to Bucharest I would imagine this would easily get a Bib Gourmand award. A fantastic experience and a restaurant that I will reflexively return to if ever in the country again.More

I am not even sure if I have anything good to say about this place... I have been here years ago and I find it quite changed, in a bad way. It could be that the pandemics made people forget how to cook? could be,...the food was not bad, just mediocre, and the service annoying.More
