About
MAIZE looks like a LEGO statue that has been built by grown-ups. Through their team work, they have found a strategic resolution step-by-step to its completion. They have deconstructed, investigated and reconstructed it; inspired by NATURE, of which have not seen for too long. Those who have created the MAIZE concept since 2017, have turned both their interest and sight to draw inspiration from sounds, tastes, smells and colors that have all been generously given to us by our earth. And the earth answered to them. That is where it all started... first "farm to table" restaurant in Bucharest opened in a November day. Join us for an aMAIZEing, Romanian experience! Farm to table. An expensive experience for a Sunday brunch! Leaving the restaurant this is the impression that I have remained with that the experience was expensive for me. The food does have a good “marketing”, being very nice displayed and put on dishes, but the taste is...not at the same level too. The diversity is limited for a brunch but the team is doing a great job in terms of profitabilityMore

"Maize" is one of the best restaurants we ever went to, and we like fine dining a lot. The whole experience was perfect from the beginning till the end. The Service is friendly, very attentive and you recognize that they stand behind their products. Now...to the food: amazing quality - regular items like potatos or pumpkin prepared in such an artistic way. Wine was very good too! My Personal highlight was the Dessert chocolate Pattern. Just imagine: the snowflake formed chocolate Chip just sounds like crackling Ice, so thats how in love they are with Detail in this place. I recommend this place a lot! Thank you for the perfect eveningMore

When a restaurant is not just about huge amounts of food 3 days ago my husband made me a surprise. Or better said, he offered me an experience: Maize. The first thing that’s strikes you when you get there is the intimacy of this place...and the welcoming atmosphere: you’re welcomed with lots of smiles, warm and polite staff and everything is so discrete. As soon as we got to our table, we were allowed to think about what we wanted and then, when asking details about certain dishes, we have received information in a form of a story telling. Something that happened also when our food started to come: each dish had a story, 3-4-5 techniques behind each plate. We started with this homemade bread and butter, with some parsley oil. Seeing then separated maybe doesn’t seem much, but when put together, it’s amazing: the smoothness of the butter, the consistency of the bread and the flavor of the parsley oil makes this combination heavenly. Then, we ordered 2 small balls and an amazing plate with celery- i am sorry i don’t have the name of the plates like in the menu. Of course, we shared :)))! I think this is something that all couples do! While i liked the different textures of the small rice balls i LOVED the celery. A disk of celery, which has an amazing smoked flavor, along with some goat yoghurt and Romanian cheese. God, it was like having a festival in my mouth! So, so amazingly good! I have to say- I don’t eat a lot, and after these, i needed a break :)))) And this is something nice; you are not forced to eat fast- the nice waiter asks you-like he knew- “ do you want us to prepare your next plate or you want a break!?” Amazing :) After our break, here came our main course: duck for him; fish for me. My fish came with 2 garnishes: apple salad and pickled peppers in mustard sauce. Who knew fish goes so well with apples!? And the “amazeing” continues: the fish had a distinctive flavor given by this lovage oil it was gently put on it. The duck: came in 3 versions: an amazing chest, a duck leg and a brioche with duck. With side sauce of porto wine and a piurée. As i said: a can’t eat too much so, no matter how hard I struggled I couldn’t finish my fish. But it was so tasty. We ended with a desert. Very light for me: some nut icecream- homemade, fresh, authentic- and a... special apple pie- which i dare you to order it: you will love it! My husband had ordered a different desert, Chocolate patterns- tasted it, loved, but too much for me after such a rich meal. Conclusion: maybe the portions are small, but so full of flavors that you eat with your nose and eyes as well; enough to enjoy it and feel full. Recommendations: listen to their specialist in wines when pairing your food with wine. You won’t regret it! Furthermore, if you yourself are a wine aficionado- you will even understand the recommendations and feel spoiled and respected. For the moment, i think my bar in Romanian restaurant it’s quite high set and i think it will take a while until i will be more indulgent. But... we are in a good path.More

We chose this restaurant according to the comments left here and were terribly disappointed. 1. At first, the restaurant is expensive. All dishes cost a lot. And such high cost is not for people who are ready to pay a lot for great food. I...think it's for people who are already satisfied with food and want to spend their money. 2. The menu is short. Around six kinds of apperetives, same amount of main dishes and a couple of desserts. That's all. By our visit the half (!) of main dishes was absent. So, the choice was poor. 3. The size of dishes is very little (a shame!). I've ordered a chicken. For such price I expected to get a whole chicken, at least a half of chicken. Instead of this I've got just a light chicken nagget. On the plate there were also: little polenta "nagget" (instead of normal portion of polenta - it should be side dish), mushroom sprinkles (insread of mushrooms) and a drop of sour cream (insread of normal sour cream). 4. The taste is neither excellent, not amazing. It has usual taste. It doesn't cost such money. The wine was very good, but it doesn't excuse the absence of good meal. 5. In the restaurant there is own bakery and during the evening we're watching a man backing bread. However, there were not fresh bread in the menu. The waiter brought us only three thin slices of bread. Also, he brought a drop homemade butter and three crackers with a drop of paste. I would like to say that these apperetives were pleasant compliment, but they were so small (a shame). They arose your appetite and then you get small main dish and then you go away hungry. 6. We've spent more than 80 euro for three persons (one child) just to go afterwards to eat in another restaurant. SadMore

The cook is amazing and the place is full of excellence with various details. All the staff did great work, perfectly friendly and professional. Nowhere else you will find excellence at these reasonable prices. But ! Please change the Nespressomachine, it does not fit to...your concept of excellence.More

The service was flawless and the athmosphere was unique and cosy. Well-thought menu, we tried various dishes and they were good. Also the sauces were very interesting. However, there was no dish that completly blew me away. It’s interesting how you can see the chefs...doing their magic as you walk by to reach your table and all in all it was a great experience.More
