Love at first sight

Ended up coming here by change and fell in love instantly. Great collection of wines and the bottles they had on the tasting menu were all fantastic. Got to taste wonderful local grapes from 3 regions in the country. Nicu and Mihai were more than accommodating and knowledgeable. Came here 4 times and would come again if i had the time. Thank you for the hospitality

Suspect we were cheated

We tried this wine bar late at night because it was the only one still open nearby. The person working there seemed friendly enough, we had three glasses of open wine, and paid 225 lei when we left. It was our first night in Chisinau so we were still not used to the prices or the currency, but on the way home we realised this was very expensive for three glasses of wine because there were entire bottles being sold there for less than 200 lei! We went to some other wine bars and restaurants over the next few days, and never saw a glass of wine even come close to 70 lei, and bought several bottles of excellent wine for less than 200 lei…. So Im afraid I have to suspect Carpe Diem took advantage of us… But I give them benefit of the doubt, maybe they were being honest - but then they are really expensive compared to other wine bars in the city! So either way, dishonest or expensive, I still would not recommend them!! There are other more affordable and / or more honest places you can go…

Very Disappointed...

We were so excited to go to Carpe Diem, as the reviews and high ranking made it a very attractive place for one evening. We had already been to 3 wineries, and a few restaurants in the city before going, so kinda had an idea on pricing, and service. We walked in around 8pm on Saturday night, and we're kinda happy to see only a table of 4 there. The sommelier/server Alex, promptly greeted us, and sat us at a table. We definitely liked the vibe, as it was very cozy and personal. Alex was super knowledgeable, and very friendly, that being said, he gave 90% of his attention to the table of four next to us. We had to constantly ask for the next tasting, as we didn't seem to matter at all to him. It was very frustrating, constantly catering to the other table, and only when they went out smoking did Alex engaged us about wine tasting. We were there for 1h40, and only were able to sample 4 wines, before our patience wore off, and asked for our check. The wines we tried were good, but nothing blew us away. The charcuterie board was pretty good, but $65 for 4 small tastings, some pieces of cheese and meats, was an outrageous amount in comparison to 95% of restaurants or wine shops in the city. I do not recommend going there, go spend less money somewhere else where the staff will make you feel at home!

Reliable, Friendly and Nice Staff

Based in London, I needed to order two bottles of wine as a corporate gift for my client in Chisinau, Alex was very friendly and helped me out with this including with delivery. My client was very delighted with the surprise and gift packaging, they did a great job and even managed to deliver it same day.

Celebration of wine day in Moldova 3-4th of October

Visited this amazing place during the Wine day festival of Republic of Moldova, that is held yearly in the first week of October , the 3rd to 4th of October. Can absolutely, highly recommend the place. The staff is super knowledgeable of the local culture of the wine, and will introduce you lots of tips about what you should do and what should you visit during your stay in Moldova. They will advise you, what to visit in the country, and will emphasize to go do some country side trips, and DO NOT LIMIT your visit, to Chișinău. This is just the capital. The real culture of wines ( and moldovian tourism) is the countryside of Moldova . The place,Karpe Diem, is a great selection of New and Old World Wines!!! You will find local the moldovian Sauvignon Blank for the greatest dry white wine lovers...( That is just marvelous 🥰 And for the lover's of great reds,Bordeaux and Merlot, you will taste here the local spectacular red moldovan, Feteasca and Rara Neagra variety of grapes. I just had an amazing wine night tasting with greatest sommeliers selections offered to us. Now I know why Moldova have such a strong wine culture back in the history. Highly highly recommend the place, during your visit of Chisinau, or stopover in KIV. Especially after a long tiring meeting day at work!!! The place is cozy and comfortable 🏠❤️🤗🍇👍

I'm not a wine lover, but Mihail convinced me that tasting wine is not the same as drinking. It is a small, chic place where you have wine tastings but also stories about the history of wine, about wine varieties, about Moldova.

The place is small and difficult to find, although navigation works. One can taste here large selection of domestic wines, preferebly with cold cuts. We were offended by very impolite and ignorant waiter, so I hardly recommend this bar.

Great wine bar with a friendly atmosphere and knowledgeable waiter.

We were a group of 12, which dropped into Carpe Diem, since we had hour to kill. Our waiter offered us to taste really good wine from indigenous grape varieties from their own production and from other small wine producers. He was very knowledgeable and was a well of information, both of the wines and of Moldovan society. We would have liked to stay longer, but had already made other plans. Highly recommended.

We came to the Carpe Diem Wine Shop & Bar for a late glass of wine and we received a great selection of wines, which matched our taste and expectations very well. We had a friendly and professional service. There was a cute cat walking around and cheering up the guests as well

If you like unique experiences for wine in the space and in a place you can stop the time and spend many days to explore different labels on stories this is the one you should try and Mikhail and more than a expert a wine lover..... Saluuuud!!!! From Moldova....

Great wine!

We visited one evening as a large group and had 6 wine tastings plus food. Everything was very good - the food, the owner's descriptions and of course the tastings. We were very impressed with Moldovan wines and came away with a couple of bottles.

Wine tasting yes...food no.

I visited Carpe Diem as part of a tour group (Explore), there were 16 of us in the group plus our tour leader and some other guy who was writing a travel blog on vegetarian food in Chisinau. The room is far too small to accommodate this many people and we were squashed in like sardines. You are pretty much sitting in a shop. The food provided was good but it would have been good to find out beforehand what food to expect as we would finish and then some time later more food of a different variety would be served so you didn't really know how much to eat of each course not wanting to be left hungry but not wanting to be too full for some further random course that was later served. The wine is OK, it's not my thing so I can't really comment on that but the other people in group seemed to think it was very good. Moldova is a massive wine producing country which very few people have ever heard of, pity because they are really very proud of their wine industry.
