Went here for breakfast because of the great reviews, and they didn't disappoint. The staff was super friendly, and food and fresh juices were just amazing. Came back in the evening, only to find out their cocktails and finger food they serve at night were even better. Highly recommended.

Favorite Place in Town

I have been frequenting Roots for about six months and decided it was high time for a review. They have, by far, the best cocktails in town. They also have delicious and healthy food and juice options for breakfast, lunch, or a midday snack. The owners and staff are welcoming and fun and the atmosphere is very chill and relaxing. Best breakfast in town!

The bar is very cozy and in the center of the city. In the morning they have a variety of healthy choices for your breakfast and in the evening a ton of cocktails for you to enjoy. I have tried several juices and cocktails, as well as some platters in the evening and everything was delicious!

Nice atmosphere, attentive service, tasty food. Can’t call the choice extensive however everything was cooked well, using fresh ingredients. Good coffee, good tea(which was a surprise), good juices. Recommend for a break!

Not Just Smoothie and Cocktails

I love going there after the gym and having their After Gym smoothie, I love going there for the Negroni and the Jungle Bird, but it's more than that. It's a heck of a place to sit and people-watch, do a bit of reading, work on your laptop if it's slow. The funicular's right behind you, the tunnel Gric's around the corner, the main street's just down the hill nearly out of earshot. It's nice. Tom and Dagmar are pros at this. You can place your taste buds and your sense of calm in their capable hands. :) Go see 'em. Tell them the Kenyan sent you.

Great spot for a break!!!

Very good. What a gem we found in this place. We were walking to visit museums and needed a “pick me up”. A cappuccino and a restart smoothie with a snack of avocado toast hit the spot. I hope we can come back and check it out in the evening for a cocktail. Thank You!!

Best bar for hangout

I was here with friends on various accessions. They have everything, from excellent cocktails to really good tapas, finger food, or if you are there in the morning's smoothie bowls. New items are vaccine cocktails which are really good. And staff are great I really liked the cool the waitress! 😁

Unfortunately, a bad experience considering the asking price

The location itself is pleasant and excellent, the only problem is that it is impossible to get there by car and the parking lot is also far away. The food is overpriced and tasteless, the offer of healthy juices is good, but the main thing about the breakfast, which is the food, is extremely bad for the far too high price that simply nothing else can improve the impression. Toast with avocado which is of rather poor quality and if you are used to organic food or generally better quality of ingredients, you will be disappointed, all this would not be such a problem worth commenting on if the price was not so high for which we expect top quality food and a larger portion. Also as a good idea tip, taste the food before you send it to the guest.

Delicious healthy food!

Healthy and tasty food with a great seating area outside perfect for the sunny days. They have a wide variety of healthy juices, sandwiches and smoothie bowls which were all super delicious and fuelled with vitamins. The smoothie bowl and the avocado toast we had were super delicious! Great place for vegetarians and vegans as there are lots of nice options!

Didn’t experience it to the fullest

I was outside on the terrace which is sweet especially when the weather is nice and I came to try their famous smoothies around 5pm, then the waiter told me they serve smoothies till 4pm and after cocktails so that could be mentioned there cuz at the end I didn’t thy what I wanted and I didn’t want to drink cocktails so I ended up drinking some soft drink. Despite that, the service was nice, but as I said, they could just mention somewhere for people to see at what time they serve what. Next time I will come at a correct time.

Hi there, thank you for your visit. We are sorry to hear that you didn't have the opportunity to try what you came here for. Since we are a juice & cocktail bar - we change the setting of our bar at 4 pm, and some things we cannot make after that time. We do have that information in ABOUT section here on Tripadvisor, and on our website we have separate menus for juice bar (until 4pm) and cocktail bar (after 4pm). Great place

There is a wonderful view of Uspinjača from the terrace of this bar. Cocktails are served in beautiful glasses, and are pretty tasty. The prices are affordable considering this bar is located in the very center of the city. The employees are friendly, we got our drinks fairly quickly, so no complaints from our end.

My wife and I just spent 2 days in Zagreb to start our honeymoon trip, and we are very glad we stumbled across this; almost; hidden gem. The juices & smoothies were incredibly fresh and delicious. The real star for me was the smoothie bowl though. It's not the type of food I usually eat, but I've never been so happy to branch out and try something new. It was so good that we came back for breakfast the very next day amidst rushing to catch our bus to the coast, which we almost missed! Absolutely worth a visit. We didn't check out the night time scene here, but the morning/afternoon is 10/10. Our server was incredibly welcoming and friendly, we only speak English (Canadian), and she helped us with every step. She even remembered our orders the next day. Cheers to the perfect start to our trip. ✌🏼

Funky, Sunshiny Day

Booked a table at 5pm after reading reviews and noticing it switched to a cocktail bar from 4pm. Centrally located next to the funicular and close to our hotel. It was a great way to round off a day exploring the city. The staff were really friendly and gave us information about the cocktails on the menu (which changes through the seasons). We were a party of 8 and stayed for two rounds of cocktails, which were excellent. We also shared nachos. Relaxed ambience, the 80s music was just the ticket. Would definitely go back to our Roots, if we returned to Zagreb.

Cocktails are brilliant!

This bar was absolutely lovely. Plenty of seating and the staff really attentive - even coming back once you’re half way through your cocktail to check if you are enjoying it. Good value, and the music playlist in the background was a welcome bonus. This won’t be the last time we visit here on our trip. Perfect for a couple of drink after a busy day!
