Recommended wine bar in Zagreb

Really good wine bar with wide range of products. Hospitability of the personal was excellent as well as offered wines. I would recommend you to take a degustation where you can discover nice wines from Croatia. Nice place for those who love wine.

The place is one of the most attractive wine caves I've ever been in. Cool and comfortable with great wine in every direction. The owners are passionate about wine, and happy to share their extensive knowledge and create directed tastings for you.

We had an amazing time at Bornstein's! Ivan was a wonderful host! We loved the Tour of Croatia wine tastings! I highly recommend visiting this place! It's a beautiful place with lots of amazing wines!

Bornstein’s Wine Bar is a great experience

The hosts are knowledgeable and friendly, the ambience is chill, the wine is excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We’d recommend it and would definitely go back.

My wife and I really enjoyed Wine Bar Bornstein. We wandered in on a rainy Sunday and enjoyed the tour of Croatia wine tasting and meat cheese platter. It's a pretty cool room, lot's of brick and wood and wine! Doris did a great job showing us Croatian wines from across Croatia and the meats and cheeses were excellent. She also did a great job juggling the needs of a group of 10 or so who were in the room when we arrived with serving my wife and I. Completely enjoyed!

What an incredible nice place this winebar! Together with the wines we had a meat platter and it was all divine! Very customer based and superfriendly service. We do not know a lot about wine and we were happy that we dropped by, thank you!

We had a private tasting here and the people were so knowledgeable and friendly! the space itself is such a beautiful bar - lots of brick! Loved the wines as well.

Wonderful room

The wine bar is in a brick lined, barrel vaulted room. It is very comfortable. It is an excellent location to enjoy the excellent wine and cheese they offered. Well worth looking for.

A Must Visit Wine Bar in Zagreb City Centre!

I have to say this is one of the most charming and unpretentious wine bars I've been to! In fact, since moving to Zagreb over a year ago I have come on many different occasions and have always found the staff and owners to be so friendly, professional, warm, and knowledgable. The atmosphere inside is very special as the wine bar (with an extension to a wine shop) is in a 200 year old wine cellar!!! How many wine bars in the world actually offer that?? The wine menu is extensive and there are so many extraordinary wines (from Croatia and around the world) to choose from and the staff will always offer a recommendation depending on your preference and mood :) I enjoy talking to the owners, Ivan and Doris, about different wines as they have a ton of wine knowledge and know the stories behind different wines. Bornstein is the type of wine bar I go to for a mid week catch up with a friend (they have delicious cheese & charcuterie plates for sharing), a birthday party or group get together, or for wine+ jazz (live music) night on Fri/Sat! For anyone that says there isn't a wine + music/movie scene in Zagreb, Bornstein has it (just check out their Facebook page for events). Plus the big advantage is that it is only a few minutes by foot from the Zagreb cathedral so I don't need to worry about driving and parking (if you want to, Kaptol parking is just nearby). Whether you live in Zagreb or are simply visiting for a few days, Bornstein Wine Bar should definitely be on your list of places to go to.

I am an experienced wine drinker, having visited many wine regions of the world, and tasted many wines over the past 40 years. I was excited by the description and looking forward to the tasting flights. When I arrived, I was seated at a table. The place was not very busy. I was ignored for a while and when they came over. I asked if I could see the wine list and what the tasting flights were. The person who waited on me said that the wine list would be too overwhelming and asked what type of wine. I said I enjoy reading the list. I told them I wanted a white wine and interested in the tasting menu so I could I sample a wide variety. She ignored me and asked again what type of white wine do you want? I described my favorite types of whites. She poured a glass for me. As more people started to arrive, I noticed that they let them read the wine list and were handed a menu. Why did she not give me the menu and the wine list? Did you judge me to someone who would not know about wine? I will won't be going back here.

Amazing “tour” of all croatia’s wine regions

I found Ivan’s wine bar through a travel wine blog, and I can’t recommend a visit enough! I did the 6 wine + cheese tasting. During the two+ hours that I sat in the bar, I learned about the region, the changing national wine scene, and the unique qualities of the land that led to the flavors in each of the wines I tried. The wines Ivan has selected are amazing, and very different from anything I’ve tried in other countries. (If you’ve traveled to other regions of Croatia for wine tastings, this is a great opportunity to compare and contrast the wines from each of the 4 wine regions.) The tasting I selected was 225kn, which felt more that fair given the generous pours and ample attention. A great spot for wine buffs who want to chat with a master and for novices who want to learn!
