Good traditional (for tourists) bulgarian food. The menu is chaotic. A little high prices. Beautiful interior. A big minus, the fact that when we paid by card they "forced" for a tip.

Authentic and outstanding Bulgarian food (best suggested Forgotten Boat) - please take time to peruse the menu as offers a lot of details on the plate and fun facts! (Might seem confusing at the beginning as the menu is quite long) The place is well...decorated and offers the typical Bulgarian vibe. Prepare to tip the occasional singer and musician offering quite a repertoire (but they do offer quite a show!) On a side note: long waiting times for food to come and apparently do not stand to pay the bill at the till as this might be perceived as there was some problem with food/service. Quite expensive but you get what you pay!More

I found this gem of a restaurant about 5 years ago and I was extremely impressed by the set up and the menu. The restaurant is somewhat hidden in the downtown of Sofia. It occupies a historical house where the well known Bulgarian public figure...nd literary critic Dr. Krastyo Kotev Krastev (Bulgarian: Кръстьо Котев Кръстев) used to live. This time (December 2019) we came back for a birthday anniversary event. The service was great and we experienced the Bulgarian hospitality throughout the entire dining. Let me now focus on the wild game section of their menu. I love the opportunity to enjoy wild game culinary offerings while in Europe. Manastirska Magernitsa had rabbit, wild boar, venison, and pheasant meat. There were a couple of dishes from each one. I had one of the rabbit dishes and it was delicious. The house wine (draft) was perfect. I hope all my TripAdvisor fellows go there and enjoy!More

Staying in a hotel nearby, we were able to see that this restaurant was quite busy every night, it was also recommended by the reception so we decided to book for New Year’s Eve, we were lucky to get a table which was quite encouraging...although the price was four times the cost of the meals we had been having but we were told there were many courses and plenty of drink! We were told 9 o clock and were seated in what was already a busy room, one of many, unfortunately we were seated on a table of four with two strangers, we noticed a table for two empty and asked if we could move but was told it was reserved. The company was fortunately pleasant but our Spanish and their English wasn’t particularly good which led to some awkward moments, we had pre ordered our meals bur were asked twice what our choices were, we had a fairly bland starter and had difficulty getting water to accompany our meals and the drinks were quite small and inappropriate with the food (raki with pitta bread and vegetables!) When our mains arrived our starters hadn’t been cleared and the waiter nudged me to pick up the plate so he could serve!! He was obviously under pressure but you would have thought that could be remedied taking account of the date and pre ordering. The meals were very bland and obviously pre pre cooked, we asked for a beer and were later charged for them, we didn’t have the brandy or whiskey as promised and come the end of our meal the table of two was still empty, our friends had eaten here earlier in the week and they also were very disappointed, we had fireworks and champagne at twelve outside but this ended very suddenly and what champagne was left was quickly collected and the door shut! As far as we know this place is very popular, just don’t book on New Year’s Eve!!!More

Excellent dishes with Bulgarian food. The prices are great also for the quality and quantity that you receive at this place.

Warm atmosphere! Very kind waiters and you didn’t had a reservation to find a seat. Perfect place at the food was delicious. A little negative point was that the lamb meat was not good (only muscles and fat, nearly no good piece). But all with...all highly recommended!More

We stopped here for lunch, it's a really lovely homely and traditional restaurant. We ate starters and a main course of a pork stew with some lovely home made bread. We were satisfied with the service and the food was very good, a great eatery!

We were two addults, oredered cold appetizers for two, and main dish for two, met from the grill. With that we ordered a bottle of red vine. They have selection between 25 lev/bottle up to 90lev/bottle. We ordered a bottle for 40lev, the waiter came...back, that they don't have this vine in the house. So we ordered another one for the same price. He brought the wine, which was good. In the hotel, we saw that he charged us the most expensive vine for 90lev! He didn't say anything when he brought the vine that it wasn't the vine we ordered. It was a scam. Look at the bill before You pay it!More

Design of the restaurant is very nice but staff is very awful! We ordered an appetizer with 4 types of cheese, walnuts and honey. They bought us only cheese without walnuts and honey. When we asked for walnuts, they told us: "This is what you...ordered!" Then they brought walnuts separately without any appologize!More
