Everything was above average while tastes and design was excellent. Waiter was speaking english very well and he worked really fast. Every one should come here while they are in sofia. It is not cheap of course but it does not matter while conditions are...like this.More

I have been coming to the Restaurant Izbata for quite a while, enjoying lunch or dinner with business partners during the week and late brunch with family in the weekends. This place is a hidden gem, offering authentic scrumptious traditional Bulgarian dishes with a twist...of international fusion. I have tried almost all of the great choices of fresh salads and the wide variety of appetizers. Grilled meat options are lip-smacking and the main dishes are masterfully prepared, reminding of my mom’s home cooking. A well-selected list of Bulgarian wines is a complement. The wait staff would be happy to recommend you the perfect pair to your meal. Sometimes in weekends I have to make a sacrifice and skip the appetizer in order to leave some space for a dessert… The best part, however is that the main park Borisova Gradina is right across the street from the Restaurant Izbata, so I love to take a nice stroll in the park after a great meal. Izbata is a combination of a cozy atmosphere, delicious food and pleasant wait staff service which makes me feel delighted and at-home away from home every single time. I strongly recommend it to all business or pleasure travelers as well as to locals and their families.More

This restaurant is not easy to find. It is away from the heart of Sofia and it takes some effort to get there. It was recommended to us by Free Sofiatours, a great non- profit organization that showed us around in Sofia (free of charge)...and thar gave us the oppirtunity to doscover several interesting places. The restaurant is typical and not tourist oriented. The food is local but very tasty. The wine list of predominantly Bulgarian wines is very interesting. The Midalidare Merlot, Malbec & Shiraz os one of the best we tasted during our stay. A place worth looking for!!!More

I visited the restaurant last month and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff and tasty meals. Everything was delisious from the salad to the dessert. The meals are big enough and the prices are reasonable. Will definitely visit it again, when in Bulgaria. Highly recommended!

I would highly recommend this cosy restaurant in Sofia! As a location - it is situated close to boulevard Dragan Tzankov ( Vasil Levski Stadium metro station - not more than 10 min walk from the city centre), close to park on small street with...no car access from the boulevard, what makes the place quiet and suitable for pleasant afternoon' chat with friends or dinner. Good list of bulgarian wines. Try roasted goat cheese (starter) or grilled scallops (main)...Friendly staff :)More

The pork file sauce was excellent. The chicken sauce was not good. Our waitress has been very polite lady. Warm decoration. Stone and wood prevail in the space. Heating is good, very comfortable during winter. Fix the chicken sauce and you are perfect.

I went to this place on 23 January because of the recommendation from the Free Sofia Tour- there's a 5% discount if you show the leaflet. It was excellent. I started with some fine rakia and had the kavarmer stew and a schopska salad with...Melnik wine and the Gorna Banja mineral water from Sofia. It was all really tasty, warmed me up on a cold evening and was a lovely way to spend my last evening in Bulgaria. The staff are very friendly and helpful.More

This lovely restaurant has a delightful walled garden which is open in Spring , Summer & early Autumn - & is well worth a 10 minute taxi ride from the centre of Sofia. The food was cooked with care & attractively presented - with wine to...die for ( and extremely reasonable in price)!! Service was pleasant and attentive throughout - a great 'find'. There is also a 'sister 'establishment IZBATA TAVERN situated downtown with authentic Bulgarian folk style decor - which, if it is of the same standard, I am sure would also be well worth a visitMore

Vinarna Izbata is a very cozy small restaurant with a perfect location, near Borisova gradina in Lozenets district (the "lower " part with beautiful old houses and lots of trees). Food quality and variety are very good. It's slightly expensive but worth a visit, especially...in a warm day... Sitting in the garden with flowers, grapes and trees around you is a real pleasure! Staff is friendly, booking in advance is recommended!More
